While everyone seemed to be scrabbling around for shelter, for a piece of property to call their own in Wonderland, Rehema had found his safety in a cool cave deep in the woods. He had lived in a house for a few days and something seemed off about the confinement. He felt restless and would often pace the building in a circular motion, grinding his teeth. He could barely stand it. In the cave he felt secure despite the lack of a true barrier.
Now he was outside his cave, lounging in the grass that lay outside. The sun was beating down on his body, making him feel sleepy and lazy. It would not be long before night descended on the forest and he could get to work. Or more importantly, he could enlist people to work. He was not an action man, he was an idea man. His role was to delegate, not to be there in the trenches of the world. The world did not deserve his attention in that manner. That much was certain as he watched the inhabitants of Wonderland scurry around in their ignorance and self centered, little ways of thinking.
Rehema finally sat up on the grass, his mind a bit more alert. He looked out into the trees, watching as the odd little animals scattered around. He got to his feet, taking one last look at his cave before deciding to go out into the forest.
His movements were sly, his steps soundless. He could sense the movement of other people walking about in their homes and in out on the forest floor. He wondered if he could find someone tonight, someone young and impressionable. He needed to build his gang and actually fill it with useful members that he could lead.

| In the small amount of time Kovu lived in this wonderland he had curiously snooped around the edges of the woods. Quickly the edge of the woods began to recede deeper and deeper with each day. With new homes came more people different than the next. Then there was Kovu. A curious young man that had found himself a temporary home in the attic of a not yet moved into home. Although dull and boring, the attic was plenty of room for him with a nice large window to allow light inside. From the window he could see far into the corners of the village, quite the perch for such an aberrant.
From above he could see the village was readying for another night fall, the perfect time for the lad to slip out and explore once again. It wouldn't be long before the village was dark but Kovu wasn't going to venture in while light still touched its walls. Instead, he made his way out of the empty home and deeper into the woods. It was comfortable, well more comfortable than that attic he was living in, and gave him a feeling similar to belonging. The deeper you moved from the village into the woods, the darker it became. It was quite exciting, really! Kovu's foot steps were anything but silent as he jumped over logs and kicked up leaves playfully. He chuckled as he nearly tripped over a large vine but effortlessly avoided such a clumsy fate.
Kovu swung his head to the side, trying to decide which direction he should take, when he saw him- a man with such dark features. Was it odd that the amount of fear in Kovu's heart was, well, calming? He came to a halt, unsure of who this man really was. "I'm not.." Kovu started, "Trespassing, am I?" he spoke softly.

He heard the clumsy, loud footsteps. It was someone who did not truly care whether they were heard or not. No, there was a new sort of creature waltzing around in the wood. Rehema saw the young man before he saw him. How could he not notice him? He was attracting attention as he made the wood his personal playground. Rehema stalked behind the trees, watching as he stumbled over the thick vine that was going along the ground. He held back a biting chuckle of his own at the site. Inept but he looked like he could learn from his mistakes. He decided to reveal himself, his curiosity getting the better of him. He was out to make new acquaintances of course. "No more than everyone else. We seem to be all squatters in these woods..." He looked the man up and down, seeing his youth and naivety in his eyes. Eager, fresh, malleable. He stepped forward, taking his place under the tree. He leaned his back against the trunk, stretching out against it. He settled, leaning his weight before he crossed his arms. "Still, you're awfully young to be scattering about in these places. Who knows what lurks here at night?" Things like me. Rehema was no thug. While he could easily overpower this boy before him and steal his meager belongings, he knew that there were other options. But was he over thinking too far into the future? He could not jump to conclusions and make assumptions. "If you do not mind, I would like to keep an eye on you." He knew a prime investment when he saw one. His memories may have more holes than Swiss cheese, but something in him knew the procedures. There was a drive in him that was not explained by any outside forces. Whispers of entitlement pushed him through each and every day in this world. KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

| Adventure was something Kovu sought out often and seeing as how the wood was large and vacant, Kovu didn't see any reason he couldn't jump over logs and swing on branches. He was much too busy making leaves rustle than to notice the vine nor the man watching him. This man had already found him by the time Kovu's eyes fell upon him. By now he had seen enough of Kovu to decide if he was even worth his time. As he looked him up and down, Kovu cocked his head up. If there was reason for this man to size him up than it was logical for him to do the same.
The man then mentioned he was rather young and that these woods were, for a lack of a better word shady. Kovu simply scoffed and shrugged the thought of danger off. "I'm not scared." He proudly called out, after all he had yet to come face to face with anything in the wood until this very moment. Although he wanted to keep from showing any emotion that might speculate anything other than his bravery, Kovu had a few signs that said otherwise. For instance, his jaw remained tight when he did not speak, his words filled with more emphasis, and his brows dropped as if to intimidate those around him.
Clearly this man could take Kovu down, Kovu knew it and so did he. As he kept his sight on him it became clearer and clearer that he was truly in no harm. "Maybe I mind." Kovu lowered his brows and looked at the man with skepticism. "Why would you want too?" The young man wasn't use to being watched in this world and he wasn't entirely sure he liked it in the past either. "Who are you?"

There was amusement in Rehema’s chartreuse eyes as the boy attempted to return the favor and size him up in turn. He was a small fish in a giant pond. But the boy had moxy and that was something to be respected and to take into consideration. Since the boy had not attempted to run away or to fight him, Rehema saw something to groom. It would take time, but he was a patient man. He could wait. “Then you’re foolish if you aren’t scared,” He said simply. “No one had fully explored these woods much less the world around them. Who knows what sort of creepy thing that could come, hunt you down and tear you limb from limb…” There was a sneer, his lips curling up to bare his white teeth. He pictured such a sight in his mind, excitement showing at the violence that could occur. Something dark was on the cusp of occurring. He could feel it deep in his soul. And if anyone wanted to hang on his coattails as they had to go ahead and grab on. Then he was being bombarded with questions, as though he was on trial for a crime that he did not commit. He chuckled before saying, “My name is Rehema but you can call me Scar.” His nickname made sense as he put his index finger to the scar that ran along his left eye. He did not remember how he had gotten it but he knew that there was a history behind it. He would like to know the story but that seemed to be for another day, if he were ever to get his memories back. “And why would I need a reason to look out for you? I have nothing more to do than allow curiosity to lead the way.” KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

| Kovu was living freely in this world, he was very much a lone wolf who ventured out on his own. He was almost completely comfortable in the darkest of places. Kovu had wandered through a good chunk of the woods since he arrived in Wonderland and he had yet to find anything that would scare him. He was confident in his answer to the man but he certainly didn't think Kovu's attitude towards danger was a correct one. With each word the man said about the dark woods made Kovu's stomach uneasy. He cocked his head back and raised his brows, maybe this man knew more than Kovu did about this place. Rehema, on the other hand, was quite frightening in his response, it was as if he was hoping to see such a horrid sight.
"I can handle myself."
Kovu straightened his posture, he tried to reassure himself that this man was not very intimidating. If he allowed a sliver of fear into his mind than this stranger would have won over Kovu without trying. Rehema brought Kovu's attention to the scar along his eye that gave him the nickname Scar and Kovu was back to square one. This man was intimidating and Kovu would not dare asked how he got such a scar. His response as to why he would want to follow the young man simply made Kovu more uncomfortable.
"I'm Kovu." He spoke out, feeling the need to say something. "If you're going to follow me," Kovu swallowed hard, "then you should know who you're following."

“You can say that you can handle yourself. Anyone can handle themselves when they aren’t in the face of danger. Even you and your youth should realize that,” Rehema said. He could smell the fear wafting off the young man before him. He wasn’t as brave as he put on. Most people weren’t. Bravery was foolishness. It seemed to be entwined with one another. He had to nip that awful personality trait right in the bud with Kovu. “Kovu,” He let the name slide off his tongue, committing it to memory. There was an amused smile on his face as he took another step forward. “Did you know that Kovu…is a different name for Scar?” He asked before he moved to walk past him. “On the contrary, you are going to follow me now.” He didn’t have time to waste watching Kovu traipse about the woods like he was some sort of forest fairy. What good did that do anyone? He didn’t turn back to see if Kovu would follow him, because he knew he would. He had piqued the man’s curiosity. He would bet all the meager possessions he had that it would take no more than three days to have him as a conscript. Optimistically, Rehema estimated that Kovu would be on his side by the end of the day. However, he always left a bit of wiggle room. KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

| In any other circumstance Kovu was positive that he could hold his own but as he stood before Rehema he was positive he would be the prey. Kovu didn't get the impression he was being threatened by this man nor his words but it did give him a glimpse of who he was. He seemed powerful, witty, and even debonair. What struck Kovu was that although he struck fear into him, he was still so curious about it.
Did you know that Kovu is a different name for Scar? Kovu's eyes stayed on him as he approached him. His eyes searched the man's face in disbelief. He remained still as Scar passed him by, Kovu's mind was still searching for the truth in his words. You are going to follow me now. His words echoed through Kovu's mind as he stared at the tree trunk Scar had been leaning against earlier.
"Follow you?" Kovu's words were low and soft. He turned 90 degrees to the left as he swung his head to see Scar who was still walking away. Something was telling him to follow but another side of him was telling him he was better off on his own. But was he? Was it better for him to continue living in an attic of isolation and spending his days running around the forest like a child? It couldn't hurt to see what this man had to offer, could it?
Kovu completed the turn and followed some distance behind Scar. It was if he was meant to follow this man. "Where are we going?" He called out.

Rehema did not turn around to make sure that Kovu was following him and was still expressing interest. He listened to the sound of footsteps following him. They were so uneasy and yet wanting Rehema had him right where he wanted him. “East,” Rehema said simply as he continued walking, going into the direction of the more populated area of the woods. “Have you noticed that our forms of government are a little lax? That we must put our faith into women that know far more than what they are letting on?” He asked him. There was opportunity around every corner. There was chaos rippling under the façade of peace in Wonderland. And when everything would come to a head, he would be there to pick up the pieces and form his own role in Wonderland. He stopped in front of a visibly empty house. It was dark from the inside out and whoever lived there was out for the day. Rehema moved to the door and found that it was unlocked. “People are too trusting, aren’t they?” he asked as he opened the door and made the move inside the house, gesturing Kovu to follow him. “Be useful and keep your eyes on the window and let me know if someone is coming,” Rehema said as he started to rummage through the rooms of the house, shoving anything that was shiny or useful into his jacket’s pockets. Hopefully this would be one of the last times he would be doing this on his own. He could spend his time delegating and focusing on bigger things… KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

| Kovu couldn't even begin to describe the feeling he felt as he began to follow this man. Was he suppose to be drawn to the world this man lived? He saw no reason to not give this man a chance but he had a feeling that once he was in he would be in for life. But was that a bad thing? Kovu wasn't sure yet how to feel, after all, he wasn't sure exactly what he was signing up for by following him. He asked where they were going and the simple response wasn't enough for the curious young man but he was not going to dare ask for more. The man took them to dark, yet more populated, place where he stopped them in front of an empty home.
Scar was right, though, in a sense. It was strange how the residences of Wonderland were so calm about taking commands from a woman they hardly knew. Immediately since the wakening of the citizen they had been governed by her. Kovu's brow caved downwards as he thought over how she reigned. To be honest, the young man had never really thought about it but then again he never really followed anyone.
"Do you think she knows what happened to us?" He questioned, looking up at Scar with a slight look of shock.
The man went inside the empty home and Kovu followed without even questioning his motives to be there even as he sifted through the home. People were too trusting in this Wonderland- for goodness sakes, Kovu was living an a home's attic. That wouldn't be the case had someone bothered to lock the home down. He thought very little of keeping watch when Scar asked him too nor did he hesitate. As a matter a fact, he stood beside the window and surveyed the area like he did when he was at home.
"You think she's hiding something from us?" Kovu asked, keeping his eyes on the area outside.

Scar did not like to get his hands dirty with this work. He had watched as the community in Wonderland had been slowly getting themselves together. He was loosing his window of opportunity to take advantage of the chaos and confusion. He had been unsuccessful in trying to get an audience with the queen in an effort to weasel his way into a position of power. He knew that this lifestyle of sulking about in the dark, stealing just enough to keep himself fed and sheltered was not enough. He was so much better than that. He knew it, deep in his soul, that this was far below him. “I don’t think, child. I know,” Scar said as he rummaged through the dressers, pulling out the scraps of silver and gold jewelry. In such an obvious position as well. Some people were just terribly stupid. He placed the jewelry in his coat pocket before shutting the drawers. He went to the kitchen area, opening up the cabinets to reveal the food that was hidden. He hadn’t seen meat since he had arrived here and something told him that he may die soon if he didn’t have a proper source of protein. He grabbed a loaf of bread and closed the cabinets. He walked to the door where Kovu stood and went to tear off half of the bread for him. “If I don’t eat something rare and bloody within the next few days, I may just start cannibalizing people…” Rehema remarked as he took a bite out of his bread, visibly displeased at the dry taste of the grain. “I haven’t seen an animal in these woods. Except the mad dodo bird and I could never catch one of those…” He said as he left the house, leading Kovu through the woods once more as darkness fell over Wonderland. KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ
