the Parents[break]
Although Kovu has no idea who his father is he does know the closest thing to a father figure he had was a lion named Taka. Taka was heir to Pride Rock until his brother had a son of his own. Unable to take what he thought was his rightful place in charge, Taka planned the death of his brother and nephew. With his brother gone and his nephew fleeing the Pridelands, Taka took reign and inevitably drove the hyenas and lionesses to brink of starvation. When the Pridelands were all dried up and there seemed to be no hope for it, Simba returned and took the land back. After years of reign, the Pridelands regained its former glory while the Outlands crawled with banished felines. [break]

It was assumed Taka was dead but his legacy lived on by word of mouth. On the other hand his mother was the ruler of the Outsiders, a group that practically worshipped Taka and believed that not only he was better fit for king than Simba but Simba was at fault for his death. Zira was a clever lioness and vindictive to boot. Much like Taka she was blinded by hatred but that seemed to only make her quicker to take advantage of situations. She was closest to Kovu but it was only due to his new found title as the Chosen One. Zira desperately wanted to avenge Taka and she would do such through Kovu.

the Curse[break]
Before all this word of a curse, Kovu was living in the Outlands with Zira and his two siblings. He grew closer to his mother as the years progressed and farther from his siblings. After his cub years were almost through, Zira began training him to be a fit king to the Prideland. As Scar's chosen heir, Kovu was to one day take over the Pridelands, even if that meant by force. When Kovu was finally old enough Zira gives him the order to kill Simba and take the Pridelands, but after a failed attempt of doing so he came face to face with an old friend- and the love of his life. Things were very Romeo and Juliet from then on; both from enemy clans, both forbidden to see one another, and a young, hopeless love that would endanger those they loved. In the end, Kovu does not die but is welcomed into the Pridelands and the arms of his true love.
[break][break]
A spell fell over the lands and unfortunately separated them all from one another. Unable to remember who they are, Kovu is left without any memory of those he held dear- not even his dearest Kiara. Now resorting back to those resembling the pride and who he was before seeing Kiara once again, Kovu will be faced with the fight for leadership once again.

Kovu was crude and playful in a more aggressive manner as a cub and often wandered away from his brother. He was curious and yet ever so eager to prove he could take care of himself. As the young cub grew up under the arm of Zira, he began to hold many qualities resembling those of Scar's. Kovu was now a skilled hunter that was very full of himself and his abilities. He is also seen as harsh as the result of years of training. When it comes to his family, he is willing to put himself at risk to take over another for control. His arrogance overshadows the rare kindness he so selectively shows. In another world his hard shell was broken by a love but now he has reverted back to a colder, more vindictive personality. If he is to ever find his love, one would see the calmer side of Kovu. This calmer side is friendlier, kind, and compassionate.
