Another day, another job, another handful of money. That was Megara's life. True she had made a few friends here and there, but she hadn't really hung out with them all that much. It seemed like her heart kept stopping herself from doing so. It was like she couldn't really trust anyone. And she couldn't figure out why. She was tired and needed a drink. She was drawn to the tavern, again not knowing why. This was especially confusing because the place was so crowded at night... and she hated crowds! It was probably the booze that drew her. It made her forget the garbage in her head driving her up the wall. She stepped in and made her way to the end of the bar and ordered a beer. And right away, some big ugly goof named Stanley walked over to chat. Meg rolled her eyes and chugged her beer. "Hey pretty lady, you need some..." he began. "No," said Meg. "Well I thought you might like to..." "No.""You don't understand. I just wanted to buy you a..." "No."Stanley turned and walked away, finally giving up. That was good because Meg didn't really feel like decking someone tonight. DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE

Dag was not normally a bar fly. He drank of course, but not often. And rarely ever got drunk. He did not want to risk making a fool of himself or lose control. He wanted to appear in control and collected, that was Damian...well the way he appeared anyway. However, a friend he was trying to bring to his side, basically a minion had wanted to go to the bar and pick up girls or something along that line so he brought the man out.
He was disgusted with this particular minion, but he needed him so he brought him to the bar. It wasn't long before the minion was leaving with a girl he picked up and Dag was left alone. As he sat at the bar he overheard an exchange between a detestable bar fly sort and a pretty lady who was having none of his advances.
He raised his hand to the bartender and when the bartender came back he handed him the two beers dag had just ordered. Dag walked over to the girl. "This is not a pick up, it's an apology to you from the scum of the earth that my gender produces." he said setting the beer in front of her. "If that is not sufficient enough of an apology I'll trade it out for whatever you would actually like." he said.

Meg was just forming a bit of joy for getting rid of the first guy when another one approached her. She sighed and was geared up to use her favorite two-letter word again. However, before she could use said word, she found what he said to be interesting. He was apologizing for the other guy? And he was willing to... apologize differently if she wasn't satisfied with his first apology? She turned to get a good look at him. He... well he looked different from a lot of the other guys in the village. He wasn't the overly handsome type like some of the guys she had seen. However, he wasn't brutish and ugly either. He was kind of cute... in a really odd way. Cute enough for Meg to respond with something other than a "no". "Nah, I guess your apology will do," she said. "But I don't see why you need to waste your time apologizing for every guy that's ever hit on me in this tavern. That would be quite a list." She then smirked. "Tell you want, if you really want to make that apology stick, you could buy me another beer." What the heck, right? She kind of wanted to talk to this one, which was a shocker. Plus... free beer. Dag smiled at the girl when she said it would do, but if he was going to apologize for all the guys that hit on her it would be a lot of drinks. "Maybe I should try picking you up after all." He said jokingly. "Kidding, but you've got spunk, and I like that." He said chuckling.
"In all honesty, desperate bar fly sort of men disgust me, so it's all i can do to apologize for their ridiculousness." He said. Originally, he had approached ber to genuinely apologize for the fool who had desperately approached her with bad pick up lines. Now she had captured his attention and he was getting the feeling like his annoying night was about to be looking up. "I'll do you one better, I'll buy you beers until you feel it's enough of an apology. How's that sound?" He said raising an eyebrow. "All I ask is you not tell anyone about this because I wouldn't want everyone to start thinking I'm a nice guy." He joked.

Meg shot the guy a look when the guy said he would try to pick her up after all, but then smiled and rolled her eyes when he said he was kidding. She then shrugged about the spunk. "I've got something alright," she said. "Still trying to figure that out. And glad you're not trying to pick me up because well... as far as I can remember I'm not the dating type. Don't ask me why because, frankly, I don't know. I'm just not."
Oddly enough, she felt a strange connection to this guy. She wasn't sure how. Did she know him? That couldn't be it. She really didn't know a lot of people. Meg liked the sound of his bargain. Free beers all night and then she would tell him his apology was good enough. Though she was pretty sure the guy wanted to buy them for her anyway. "Alright, deal," she said. "And pffft, I'm no saint, but you don't need to worry about me spreading this around. Besides... nice guys are boring. Sometimes they're worse than the bar flies." She then realized something as she finished her beer. "You know, this conversation would be a little better if I knew your name. I'm Meg, local Jill Of All Trades."DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE

Dag smiled when Meg said she had something. "Well, you've got whatever it is." He said. She went on to say that nice guys were worse sometimes than the sleazy bar fly guys. "Again we agree. The saying is that nice guys finish last, which is why I'm not a nice guy. I prefer to capture the prize." He said. For some reason Meg had just become one of those prizes. He wasn't sure why, but he felt like he knew her. He also thought she might be useful to his plans to try and take over wonderland.
"Pardon me" he said as he sat on the stool next to her. He figured if he was going ti buy her drinks until she was satisfied he might as well take a seat, besides he wanted to get to know her more. Just then she remarked about knowing his name and introduced herself. "Meg, lovely name. You can call me Dag." He said introducing himself before taking a drink of his beer.

Meg laughed when the guy said that she had a lot of whatever it was. If only she really knew. And frankly, she kind of wanted to get rid of some of whatever she had. She really didn't like it. "Well... thanks... I guess," she said. The man then went on about how he wasn't a nice guy and nice guys finished last. The thing was... Meg didn't mind being around a nice guy. The guy in her dream was a nice guy, but he had an edge too. Maybe this guy was a little nicer than he claimed, but had that edge as well. "Well you're buying me drinks, so you can't be all bad," she chuckled. "Well as long as you're not trying to get me drunk... though you seem like you have a bit more class than that." Meg smiled at him again. Was she really enjoying this guy's company? It certainly seemed so. Meg then raised an eyebrow at his name. "Dag, huh? Dag and Meg... almost seems like we were destined to meet or something." She cracked open another beer and sipped it, her eyes not seeming to want to leave Dag. "So Dag, I told you what I did. What do you do?"DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE

He chuckled when she said thanks, clearly what he said was not clear whether it was a compliment or not. "Rest assured it's meant to be a compliment. I have never meant a woman like you before. I could actually see us becoming good friends, and that is the kind of person I very rarely ever come across." he said with a smile.
Dag smiled when Meg said that he can't be all that bad if he is buying her drinks and specifying that as long as he wasn't just trying to get her drunk that was true. "Well I do try to have more class than that at least." he said. "Really though, drunk people are fun for awhile but messy to deal with at the end of it, so no need to worry about me getting you drunk." he said.
"Yeah, it's short for Damian Argus Greene. I much prefer the shortened version as it is easier to say and also easier to keep people from knowing my whole name. But I get the feeling I don't have to worry about you spreading it out to everyone." he said mostly joking as he did not actually want his 'real' full name used while dealing with the shady things he often dealt with. Then she asked him what he did. "Well, that depends on who you ask." he said with a smile. "I trade goods for the most part. A dealer." he said being as vague as he could, not sure just yet if she could be trusted with the full details. Underground/underworld sort of deals weren't exactly something you went around telling everyone about. Especially when you ran a large market for such things.

Wait a minute? A guy... a guy just wanted to be friends with her? This guy really wasn't just trying to pick her up. Well wonders never ceased in Wonderland. So friends, huh? Sure, why the heck not? "I could kind of see that too," she said. "I don't really have a lot of friends around here anyway, so I guess adding one of two more wouldn't hurt. Tell you what, friend, I'll buy us a round of shots. You like tequila?"Meg then laughed about Dag promising not to get her drunk. "Well that's nice of you," she said. "Now I just need to worry about myself getting me drunk. Tomorrow's Sunday and I don't work that day, so no fear of working with a hangover and all."She then chuckled about his name. "Well, I like Dag," she said. "So we'll stick with that." She then listened as he spoke of his profession. He was a dealer in goods. That seemed odd as Meg did tend to shop about the various places in Wonderland to relieve boredom at times. She had never seen Dag anywhere trying to sell something. She shrugged it off though. Maybe he worked outside the Village. "I'll have to pop by your shop some time then."DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE

Dag smiled when she seemed interested in becoming friends with him as well. "I won't turn down a free drink." he said with a chuckle, agreeing to the round of shots.
Meg told him that since she didn't have to worry about him getting her drunk all that was left was to make sure that SHE didn't get her drunk. He chuckled. "I'm sorry, I promised not to get you drunk myself, but I'm not going to help you keep yourself from getting drunk." he joked. "You're on your own with that." he added. "I also didn't promise that I wouldn't get drunk myself. But don't worry I'm not that much of a handful." he said with a smile.
He was glad to hear her say she liked his nickname and would stick with it. "Thank you, I much much prefer that name to the full name, easier to remember and less hassle." he said. Meg expressed interest in visiting his shop. "It's being fixed up at the moment, but I'll give you directions to my home address for now, so you can get a hold of me, and once it is back in running order I'll take you there." he suggested.

Meg smiled when Dag agreed to the round of shots. Meg was sort of glad she wasn't really buzzed yet since they were switching from beer to whiskey. She ordered the shots and offered Dag a toast when they arrive. "To meeting somewhat decent guys in a tavern full of creeps," she said before she drank. Meg laughed when he told her he wasn't going to stop her from getting herself drunk. She then sighed though. "Well... it won't be the first time," she said. "Alcohol can work wonders sometimes. It can clean some pretty crappy stuff out of your head." She then took another shot. She then listened as Dag spoke of his place of work. Maybe that's why she hadn't seen it. It was shut down at the moment. "Ah, I see," she said. "Well that's one good thing about being a Jill of all Trades. My work never really shuts down. My work is wherever someone needs me to go." She then toasted him again. "Here's to your job re-opening soon." She drank and then saw the house band began to play. People went to the floor to dance. Meg groaned. "Oh no... not this again. Ugh, they all look so goofy over there." DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE

Meg raised a toast and Dag couldn't help but chuckle at the toast. "I will toast to that for you!" he said tapping his glass to hers before drinking. It had been awhile since Dag enjoyed the company of anyone, and here he was laughing and drinking. This Meg was an interesting sort, and he had decided he wanted to keep her close.
He was taking another drink when she began telling him how alcohol could help clean pretty crappy stuff out of your head aand Dag wondered if that were true. He had mostly just witnessed people getting themselves into trouble while drinking, and though he enjoyed drinking he rarely ever found himself drunk enough to do something stupid. "Well, tonight is as good a time as any to find out if that's true." he said mostly joking.
"Well, my business is still running, it's just the base of operations that is down right now." he explained. Black market deals could go down anywhere and everywhere really, but he needed a more legit looking base of operations to keep prying eyes from catching him. "A jill of all trades huh? What sort of trades?" he asked, an idea of how to keep her close forming in his mind.
She proposed another toast and he smiled, "To my business being at it's full power." he said with a wink as he amended her toast to fit the situation of his business a bit better. He drank his shot and heard Meg groan and complain about the people on the dance floor looking goofy. "Well." he said standing up and holding out a hand to her. "Shall we show them how dancing is supposed to look?" he asked raising an eyebrow.

Meg tapped his glass with hers and drank. She was beginning to feel a bit buzzed now that the whiskey had entered her system. Oh well, at least she had Dag with her. She had found she was beginning to trust him. That was definitely a first... or she thought it was anyway. There was that guy from her dreams after all. That had a bit to do with what she meant about cleaning the crap out of her head. Alcohol usually kept her from having the dreams about the handsome guy, as well as the wicked man in the creepy underground place. "Trust me, it will," she said. "Booze equals no bad dreams... no dreams at all."Meg nodded when he spoke about his business. She followed said nod with a smirk. "Angry customer I'm guessing," she said. "And by trades, I mean odd jobs. I'm a handywoman, Ms. Fixit and all that. Nothing special."Meg drank her shot. She hoped Dag would agree with her about the dancing. Instead, he insisted they show everyone how to dance. She rolled her eyes, and then thought it over. "Ah the heck with it," she said. "Let's go look as stupid as them." She grabbed his hand and headed to the floor. DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE

Dag had had strange dreams for as long as he could remember. They all seemed to be him in some sort of hell. Which made the concept of being drunk and not dreaming sound amazing. He was tired of the dreams and he loathed the hell that he dreamt of. "Well, here's to dreams and particularly not having them then." he said lifting his glass up and then drinking from his glass.
"Odd jobs, handwoman eh?" he said. "I could use a handywoman. You see in my line of business there is a spot for everyone and anyone. Well not anyone, just anyone I could get along with. And it gives us an excuse to hang out more. But we can talk more about that when we are sober again. Perhaps when my new place is open and you come visit." he said. "and you're wrong about the customer being the reason that I had to redesign, it was a disgruntled employee actually. And I of course took care of business." he said.
He spun her around when she agreed to dance with him, albeit slightly against the idea. He followed her to the dance floor. "I don't think we could look as stupid as them if we tried to." he said with a smile as he began to dance.

Meg toasted him and sipped. She was definitely not having bad dreams after all she was drinking. She was going to be dead to the world once she hit the bed that night. She pointed to the bartender to get her a refill. Meg raised an eyebrow as Dag said he was interested in a handywoman. Just what did he do in this business of his? Meg was kind of curious now. And it might be nice to have her work settled in one place... if the guy paid well enough. "I'll check your place out, but we'll have to do some serious negotiating if you want me to be your full time handywoman," she said. "I'm not too proud to say that I go where the money is when it comes to my job." Meg nodded when Dag said a disgruntled employee was the source of his trouble. "Fired him, huh? Hard for me to do that... since I'm pretty much my boss and sole employee." Meg laughed a bit. Meg grinned at Dag's comment before going out on the floor with him. Yeah, she couldn't help herself. She had grown fond of the guy. On the floor, she attempted her best moves and failed miserably. "Hey, you want to blow this place and go somewhere less crowded?" she asked. "I have booze back at my place."DAMIAN ARGUS GREENE
