It was a bright, warm day as Dash run through the trees with excitement. Today was an interaction day. Meaning they would go into the forest, and look for certain specimen and take note of whatever Mr. Bernie wanted. Well that was what other students did anyway. Dash took the time to explore, he found rivers and caves, and all sorts of things. It was great. His sister never let him go too far out of town, apparently he'd get himself hurt. As if. Dash rarely messed up, and if he did, it wasn't his fault, someone else usually screwed it up for him. So she had nothing to worry about really. Jumping over a pair of rocks, Dash came to a stop to see himself at a cliff. Resting a few feet below him was a miniature waterfall. The water was a bright blue, and the various fish and things swam under it. Dash watched in wonder as big and small fish came and went out of his few. Some disappearing underneath him.
Dash laid himself down onto his stomach, put his head over the edge to get a closer look. See? You couldn't get this kind of experience in class, reading some books. You have to go out and look for it, or else you'd never find it. Dash hummed happily to himself as his blue eyes glowed from the reflection of the water. As he reached out with his fingers tips, attempting to touch the water, he felt hands grab onto the back of his neck and pull him up. It was Mr. Bernie. Dash and Mr. Bernie had an awful relationship. The older man thought Dash should calm down and focus on his studies, that he should get a job, and learn to respect his elders more. Dash only respected those who deserved to be respected. Those who earned it. Not boring, old men who thought they knew better.
"Where are your notes, Mr. Parr?" Mr. Bernie asked annoyingly, crossing his arms. Dash rolled his eyes and pointed behind him. "See, right there." Mr. Bernie cocked up an eyebrow and turned to look behind him. With that Dash ran off in the opposite direction in the woods. Dash laughed loudly as he bounded through trees and bushes, seeing the waterfall disappear farther and farther into the distance before it was gone altogether. Due to not looking the right way, Dash ran straight into a clearing, or more importantly a person.

the weakest but the brightest. For the last few months, Caddie had wondered why her parents had abandoned her in the little Orphanage in the Village. Why did they leave here there, why? Was it because she had a breathing problem? Was it because she was weak and needed help sometimes? But just because she was weak and couldn’t breathe like the rest of the people, though at least she could breathe on her own, didn’t mean that she didn’t deserve a family. Parents to love her for whom she is. She had to grow up under the guidance of a stranger, though the orphanage was her family now, and she would have it no other way. She loved the children in the orphanage and she loved the owner, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want to know her origins. Where she had come from.
That morning though was nice and warm, bright sun shining above her as she walked through the small forest path. Of course Mr. Bernie, the teacher for this assignment, had told her to stay close to him in case she needed help, but of course little Caddie Gilbert didn’t listen to him. She was fine on her own, she didn’t need help. And if she had a breathing problem while in this woody area, well then she had a problem, didn’t mean she would die then and there, plus she knew what to do if she couldn’t breathe. She was walking, her notes in her hand as she looked at different specimen and wrote down random notes. She plucked a flower from one of the stalks and brought it to her nose, the smell of it so wonderful that a smile appeared on her face, she spun around and that was when someone ran into her.
She fell to the ground with a thump, a breathless gasp leaving her lip. She panicked. She couldn’t catch her breath for a moment and that worried her. She took in a huge intake of air before finally letting a long breath out. Her eyes were watering from the lack of oxygen for a few moments, and she quickly wiped her eyes so that the person or thing wouldn’t notice the water building up in her eyes.
“Watch where you are going.” she breathed pulling herself to her feet. She had dropped her notebook and pen and quickly brushed off her butt, the dirt and grass most likely staining her favorite jeans. One of her only pair of jeans. She had yet to look up at the person that had ran into her.

Dash stumbled a bit as he came to a rough stop. He barely noticed that he almost rammed someone over under he heard small gasps behind him. Turning away, Dash came face to face with a slightly shorter brunette girl, who looked a bit flustered. Oh dear, he did this. "I'm so sorry about that. I totally didn't see you there." Dash apologized, with a small grimace, almost reaching out to check if she was okay but quickly retracted his hands with another grimace. Probably not a good idea.
Dash sent another apologetic look, while also glancing past the girl to make sure Mr. Bernie wasn't anywhere nearby. As sorry as he was about running her over, he'd be the one being run over if he got caught. Not to mention, Dash had a reputation of definitely not getting caught. And he intended to keep it that way. The blonde boy eyes narrowed as he spotted something in her hands, a notebook and a pen. She was working. And if she was working, school must mean something to her. And if school met something to her, if Mr. Bernie asked her where he went, she'd tell.
Okay, that whole theory was a little far fetched, but Dash wasn't taking any chances. "So, I'm Dashiell Parrs. Nice to meet you. Why don't we go for a little walk, yeah?" The boy asked quickly, taking her arm, as gently as he can and pulling them farther into the woods. "Actually, how about a run? You shouldn't focus on work so much, it's not good for you. Running in fact is, it pumps up your heart, and you look like you need a little bit of that. A lot of that, actually." Dash rambled rapidly, his eyes now darting into the trees behind him, before looking back into the awaiting brown eyes of the mystery girl.

the weakest but the brightest. ‘I’m sorry about that. I totally didn’t see you there.’
His words reached her ears and the young brunette looked up, a small upset frown upon her tan face. “I’m sure you didn’t.” she said through clenched teeth as she bent down to pick up her notebook and pen before standing once again to her full height and turned to the guy. “Now if you excuse me I have an assignment to do.” she said lowly. Sure she was timid, and you could tell because she had yet to look at the boy full on and talked lowly through her words. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and went to make a move around him but he was talking again.
‘So, I'm Dashiell Parr. Nice to meet you. Why don't we go for a little walk, yeah? Actually, how about a run? You shouldn't focus on work so much; it's not good for you. Running in fact is, it pumps up your heart, and you look like you need a little bit of that. A lot of that, actually.’
His hand snapped out and grabbed her arm gently, too gently and then she found herself walking through the forest. She glanced behind them, her escape before turning back to the front. “I’m Caddie. Caddie Gilbert.” she mused lowly but then she heard something about running. Her eyes widened “I---I don’t run.” she said, a panic attack building within her. She hadn’t run a lot, not since she learned of her breathing problem and the way that running took a toll on her heart and breathing to the point she became weak and could pass out from the overuse of her lungs and body. She was born weak, and that was why she was given up.

"You don't run? Really?" Dash thought she was kidding, she had to be. She was standing and walking perfectly fine, she didn't look to have any physical problems. Looks can be deceiving though. The young boy sighed, running through his hair roughly as he thought of a solution to the current problem. He could run, but she couldn't. Maybe he could carry her. Dash sized her a bit, before nodding. He could carry her.
"I don't usually rush this much intimacy, but I'm afraid we're in dire times." Sweeping Caddie off her feet, Dash piled the girls in his arm, bridal style, before looking around him to check for Mr. Kropp. The coast looked clear. Dash looked down at the girl, and sent a small smile. "I suppose this could of happened a different way, but none of that now, trust me, I run fast. Just tap me if you want me to stop somewhere."
With that said, Dash took off into the woods, staying on a clear path so that he wouldn't risk hitting Caddie against anything. Poor girl didn't even know what she was getting into. Caddie was surprisingly light. Or Dash was incredibly strong. Probably the latter. Dash did manage to stay in incredible shape. Making a sharp turn, Dash skidded to a stop as they had come to the exit of the woods, and the pair now stood in front of what seems an outside lounge area. Safe enough. Dash leaned down and put Caddie on the ground, briefly checking her to make sure she was okay before grinning triumphantly.
"I think we made it."

the weakest but the brightest. ‘You don’t run? Really?’
Caddie nodded her head slowly and hesitantly. Sure she did run, but she really didn’t want to be far away from a teacher if she had a little problem. By little, she meant not being able to breath properly and could possibly pass out from lack of oxygen. And she didn’t think this boy knew how to help someone in that situation, probably didn’t know how to help anyone in any situation. Before she could speak he was once again speaking, and his words made her frown but before she could even utter a single world she felt her legs leave the ground and then she was in his arms. She gasped eyes wide and before she could tell him to put her down he was running. Running while carrying her. Oh this was not going to be pretty if he fell. Not only would he get hurt, but she would as well. So all she did was quickly wrap her arms around his neck, fearful that she would fall from his arms.
‘I suppose this could of happened a different way. But none of that now, trust me. I trust fast. Just tap me if you want me to stop somewhere.’
All she did was nod, scared that if she opened her mouth she would scream for the teacher. Knowing this boy and his reason for running, he most likely did not want that to happen. So she just let him run and carry her, her arms wrapped around his neck. And then they were stopping, the woods behind them and before them was a lounging area. She frowned slowly unwrapping her hands from his neck before he sat her back down on the ground.
‘I think we made it.’
“Made it? What exactly where we running from?” she questioned, hands going on her hips, eyebrow raising. She wanted answers and she wanted them now.

Dash, who was still winded, held a hand up, gesturing for her to wait as he leaned against a tree, and caught his breath. Dash ran all the time, when he wasn't doing something for fun, he really shouldn't be so tired. Though technically, this was his first time carrying someone with him. Maybe he should practice that more, if allowed. Dash soon released the tree, and turned to face. "Now Caddie, me and Mr. Bit-Bernie Kropp don't have a very pleasant relationship. He would of sent me to the Head Master if he caught me, and I really can't have that."
Helen, Dash's oldest sister, who was very busy with her work that paid for the family, warned Dash that if he got in trouble again and sent to the headmaster, he was being grounded, like for life. If he got this threat from Violet he wouldn't care too much, but Helen was no woman to play with, and he didn't doubt her abilities. "So I had to run. He can't accuse me of 'not following instructions' if he has no proof of him being anywhere near me." Dash finished off, feeling slightly confident with his exceptional reasoning.
Just before Dash could say anything, the sound of branches broke from our them, and several school guards came from the trees behind him. They didn't look happy, like at all. "Oh man.." The boy groaned, as one of the guard walked up, and pulled Dash into a holding grip. Dash had to give credit to the guard, he must be one of the veterans of the 'Dash Guards'. Because he was the only one who thought to do that. The other guards got the idea, and grabbed Caddie as well, before pushing them towards a building. Headmaster's building.
An hour later, Dash and Caddie sat in the office of the headmaster. Thankfully the guards had left, and Dash was pretty sure Mr. Bernie's class was finished, but that didn't mean much since the headmaster wanted them to stay. Dash looked to his left, guilt filling him as he watched the headmaster talk to Caddie. Dash was pretty skilled in toning out the headmaster, it wasn't the first he was in here, but it might be Caddie's first time.
Dash felt horrible for getting her in trouble. That was a major jerk move, and Dash was no jerk. He had tried to say it was his fault in the woods, but the headmaster wasn't having it. And now Caddie was getting partial blame. God, he hoped this ended soon. "You two may go now. I will be calling home."
With a relieved sigh, Dash grabbed his bag from the back of the seat, and walked out of the room with Caddie, guilty blue eyes watching her as Dash stopped in the hallway, and turned to face her. "So..what now?"

the weakest but the brightest. Her arms were still on her hips as she watched the young boy, who looked rather winded, lean against the closest tree. She waited, wanted to know why they were running in the first place. If he was running from someone, she did not want to get pulled into the mess. She was an innocent bystander, and wanted nothing to do with the trouble the young boy before her was in. finally after what seemed like a few minutes, but was rather only a few seconds, the boy seemed to catch his breath, let go of the tree and turned to face her.
‘Now Caddie, me and Mr. Bit-Bernie Kropp don’t have a very pleasant relationship. He would have sent me to the Head Master if he caught me, and I really can’t have that.’
She flinched at the bad grammar he used, but brushed it off when anger pulsed through her. “You mean to tell me that all of this was because you didn’t want to get caught? You know, you could of just ran away and left me to my own devices.” she said through clenched teeth. Her anger was clear within her, annoyance pulsing through her as well. If they got caught, well if Dash got caught, she would take the blame as well, she was not ‘following instructions’ either now because of this boy. “You know what I am leaving.”
She went to leave, turned and then the sound of branches braking filled the void of silence. That was when she saw some of the school guards appear from behind trees, and they were not happy. One of the guards grabbed Dash, and she went to speak, went to tell them that she was just an innocent bystander, but the other guard grabbed Caddie as well and started pushing them towards one of the buildings. The Headmasters one at that.
An hour. That was how long they were getting scolded within the headmaster’s office. Caddie had come to her own defense, telling the headmaster that she didn’t have anything to do with this, that Dash had seemingly kidnapped her, but the headmaster wasn’t one to believe her. Because it was her first time within the headmaster’s office, he let her off with a warning, but he was going to call the orphanage could be done. And so they were allowed to leave, Caddie quickly grabbed her things, stood to her full height; her head held confidently before she slipped out of the room, she ignored Dash even though he was walking just a few feet behind her. That was until he stood before her.
‘So…what now?’
Caddie scoffed before going around him, “This is where we part ways and never talked to one another again.” she said, her shoes sounding against the floor. She agenda was to leave the building and get home. To explain to Perry what had happened and to find Pepper. Pepper could calm her down, would tell her everything was alright.

a falling star fell from your heart. Before the boy could say anything, Caddie was walking off and away from him. Dash sighed, his out reached hand falling to his side as he watched her walk away. He didn't mean to get her in trouble. Dash is a one man team, it was just that him running into the girl caused complications. The young boy leans against the wall in defeat, crossing his arms as he stared at the wall in thought. He was wondering why it mattered so much, and he couldn't figure it out. He just didn't want to end things on a bad note. Dash could be a nice guy, but now she probably thought he was the worst guy ever. Dash's eyes looked to the now empty hall. Before he knew it, he was running through the hallways to catch up to the girl. He was sure he could hear the headmaster telling him to stop running, but honestly he was already in trouble, what was stopping him? Pushing through the doors, Dash spotted the girl in the distance and ran to catch up to her. 200 WORDS FOR @cadpig ― notes go in here.

the weakest but the brightest. Caddie walked her way through the barren halls. Had she been too hard on the boy? It was just she had never been in trouble before, had always been the good girl. But with this rush of being in trouble, she had gotten upset, angry at him. She was innocent for goodness sake. She had been minding her own business when he had bumped into her, swept her off her feet, literally, and then ran off with her. It was his fault, why shouldn’t she be mad? But Caddie wasn’t really the angry type, sure she got annoyed easily as she got angry, but she was a little harsh. But she continued to walk away, pushing open the doors to the building and exiting into the warm air. Her feet padded against the ground as she walked for the orphanage and then she heard it.
Creak.
The doors to the building opened behind her, sure she was a fair distance away but she still heard it, it was rather loud. And then she heard footfall from behind her. Was it Dash that was following her? Hadn’t she just told him she wanted nothing to do with him? She continued to walk, the distance to the orphanage not that long, but finally she turned. “Why are you following me?” she questioned Dash, who seemed to have caught up with her.

a falling star fell from your heart. Dash skidded on his heels to a stop, making sure not to run the girl over for the second time in a day. "I wanted to apologize, and you kind of.." Dash rolls his hands, in a knowing manner. "Took off." The boy said, with a guilty grimace, as his hands landed on his hips as he took a deep breath. Yeah, he definitely wasn't out of shape. "But listen, anyway, I really am sorry. I didn't mean to get you in trouble, I usually don't. I should of let you go, you're right. I know your right, but headmaster here doesn't..." Dash bit his lip, in concentration, his blue eyes calculating the girl as he waited for her response. "Plus you really shouldn't listen to the old geezer, I don't think he'd spare anyone. He's bitter, and old." He added, pointing back to the building with his thumb, as an awkward laugh followed. Dropping his hands to the side, he fiddled with his fingers, as he thought of what else to say. Well there was one important thing, I guess. "Are you gonna be in trouble when you get home? I could like, talk to your parents or whatever." He suggested sheepishly, sticking his hands into his pockets. Dash was pretty good with his words, especially when it came to grown ups. You just needed to hit the right notes, and they were following to your every whim. Or maybe it was just his looks. Probably both. 265 WORDS FOR @cadpig ― notes go in here.

the weakest but the brightest. He skidded to a stop before her, and she took a step back just in case he couldn’t stop himself from ramming into her. Again. But he seemed to stop just in time, even with her little step backwards. He wanted to apologize, then changing the subject to her taking off. She crossed her arms over her chest, her white blouse bunching up. Her bag was carelessly over her shoulder, slapping into her leg as it tried to stop its swinging from her fast paced walk moments ago.
‘But listen, anyways, I really am sorry. I didn’t mean to get you in trouble. I usually don’t. I should of let you go, you’re right. I know your right, but headmaster here doesn’t. Plus you really shouldn’t listen to the old geezer. I don’t think he’d spare anyone. He’s bitter, and old.’
Caddie couldn’t help the smile that slowly fluttered onto her face when he emphases the ‘old’. There was no doubt in her mind that the headmaster was rather old and bitter, though she rarely saw him. He mostly kept to his office, calling people one by one to his office to be yelled and scolded. She was lucky enough to not have to deal with him…until now. Dash’s next words caught her attention. Would she be in trouble when she got home? Most likely not. Miss Perry was a nice woman, protective. Sure she would show her disappointment in Caddie, but once Caddie told her what happened she most likely would have a nice long talk with the headmaster. And most likely want to speak with Dash’s mother. She bit her lip, quickly shaking her head.
“I don’t think—.”
Her words stopped. Parents. He said parents. She took a deep breath; “I don’t have any parents.” she whispered quickly to him and spun around her on her heels to walk away. He hit a tough spot for her.

a falling star fell from your heart. The teen watched in confusion as the small brunette stormed off, angrier then before. She didn't have parents? Maybe they died. Dash's face fell with guilt, his lips curling into a grimace. He didn't know much about being an orphan or anything, his older sister Helen was the best mom he would ever need. But some people weren't as lucky as he to have a good guardian. Dash's eyes hardened as he looked back up to her retreating figure, as the sky turned into a dark gray, and the tiniest of rain drops began to mist the air. Having parents didn't mean that someone who was genetically related to you take care of you, having parents just meant having someone care for you. Someone older, wiser, but honestly, that wasn't an requirement. Parents were just another piece of your family, and family wasn't tied by blood, it was tied for..well, not to sound soft but family was tied by love. Okay, that sounded way too soft. Forget he said that. Tugging on his hood, Dash raced after her, small puddles following his tracks. "Caddie, listen to me, please. I'm sorry I said that, but parents don't mean the person tied to you by your blood, it's more like people that care. You know that." Dash yelled over the loud sound of the rain, pieces of hair falling over his blue eyes, as the water ran over his hood, and fell onto his face. "Caddie can we just talk? We can be friends, you know? Fresh start. Do you even care about getting in trouble? You know it won't happen again. In fact, I can promise that. And even if you get in trouble when you go home, I'll be there to talk it out. I'll take the blame. You'll be out of the dog house before you know it." 327 WORDS FOR @cadpig ― notes go in here.

the weakest but the brightest. She continued her face pace walk away from the guy. Anger and hurt was clear in her eyes and her persona. She was upset because she gave into her emotions and angry that he had struck a nerve within her. Her parents had given her up. That was that. Sure they could be dead, but all she knew is her life was in the orphanage. Always has and always will. Not that she minded. Perry was amazing, so were her “siblings” and she couldn’t ask for anyone better in her life. But it still hurt that she didn’t have her biological parents with her, raising her, taking care of her. she wondered who they were, what they looked like. Did she have biological siblings? So many questions ran through her head as she walked that she didn’t even notice the mist of rain drops. She didn’t have a jacket either. By the time Dash ran after her, it was pouring and she was soaked through. She pushed forward.
‘Caddie, listen to me, please. I'm sorry I said that, but parents don't mean the person tied to you by your blood, it's more like people that care. You know that. Caddie can we just talk? We can be friends, you know? Fresh start. Do you even care about getting in trouble? You know it won't happen again. In fact, I can promise that. And even if you get in trouble when you go home, I'll be there to talk it out. I'll take the blame. You'll be out of the dog house before you know it.’
Caddie laughed, shaking her wet head and spun around to face him. “Can you keep that promise Dash, truly? Because no offense but I don’t think you can.” she said “But you’re welcome to talk to Perry…explain everything. Do whatever you want, the little orphan girl doesn’t care.” she said, she was trying to hurt him. She was putting her guard up. Everything she usually care about, or could learn to care about, was always ripped away from her.

a falling star fell from your heart. Dash shook his head in disbelief, his hands roughly running through his hair as he attempted to keep cool. Dash wasn't one to get fed up, but my god, Caddie was just blowing away expectations wasn't she. "Listen, I don't care if you're an orphan. That doesn't change anything." Dash shot back, in an exasperated manner. "And you don't know me, you don't know what I can do. I keep my promises, no matter what. Maybe if you stopped and talked to me, you would figure that out." Dash added, his face turning into a light pink as frustration grew in his mind. "Caddie would you just-" Before he could stop himself, he was trying over a rock, and reaching out to block his fall. Thankfully he landed right in front of Caddie. "You can't run away from your problems, ma'am. Sorry to break it to ya.." The boy said, spitting something to the side as he pushed himself from the ground and stood in front of Caddie. "Are you even angry about getting in trouble? I don't understand why you're so pissed. Is it because of the running thing? What did I do?" Dash asked angrily, his eyebrows scrunching together, his lips forming a frown as he waited for her answer. "You act like you know me but you don't..you haven't even tried. And no matter what you say, where you're from, who you're from, it doesn't change who you are.
