[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] ERASE ME AND I'M PAINTED BLACK [attr="class","next"] They wanted that stupid crystal and they wanted the boy along with it. Helen rolled her eyes as she slipped on the fur coat that her brothers had had made for her. Hunters, the both of them — she was lucky to have such good hunters for brothers. She looked in the mirror as she let the fur slide down her arm, exposing the plunging neckline of the dress that she had chosen. It was good to be back, she thought. It had seemed like forever since the royal bitches had given her something to do. Under the cover of night, Helen had plans. Big plans for Milo. It wasn’t unlike her to go all out, in fact, it was rather characteristically expected of the beautiful blonde. She slipped on a pair of black gloves and made her way through the village. Getting into his house was the easy part — windows were hardly ever locked and they were low to the ground. Yes, Milo Thatch was certainly in for a treat this evening. As she slipped into his home, she closed the window behind her and looked around. Perching herself was the hard part. Helen knew her angles and she knew exactly how to work them. She walked around the apartment, dragging her fingertips across the dust on the mantlepiece and looking at it with a certain amount of discontentment. Men could be so strange — and she already knew a lot about this Milo fellow, just based on the way he kept his home and what she had observed. Helen made it her business to get to know a lot about people and she had been keeping a careful eye on Mr. Thatch for the past two days. Books, maps, everything was scattered everywhere. It was the telltale sign of a textbook genius, she thought. But someone who was misunderstood. He probably lacked common sense, she reasoned. On top of one of the larger armchairs lay a pile of books that Helen haphazardly moved to the ground as she perched in the chair. He would be home soon, she was certain of that. The boiler room couldn’t hold him for forever, could it? She ran her fingertips up her leg, drawing the skirt of her dress up her leg. Now it was a waiting game.

Milo really was sick and tired of the boiler room, he had other skills! So why did they stick in the one place that well, he wasn't suppose to do? He could teach something and yeah well, students hardly listen to anyone so it wouldn't really be his fault that the kids wouldn't learn. Bah who was he kidding? They'd never let him do anything different in that school and quitting wasn't a full option. What job would he get? Milo thought about looking into it but it just didn't seem like the right move. So he would suffer with the boiler room for now. Truthfully it had been a day or two since he even managed to be home, his research into his crystal had been keeping him away from it. So if the dust had gathered more that was why, he normally kept the place in good condition in that sense. Adjusting the brown trench coat, he picked up a few books and headed out of the boiler room and then the school. It was a long walk but one he was used to making. Besides he could let his thoughts just go by without anyone asking too much. Not many people were still awake. The crystal hung from his neck, there was no glow from it and it just seemed to be a long piece of rock. It couldn't be just a rock could it? For something not in the books it just had to mean something. The front door's, door knob twisted round after Milo put his key in and had unlocked it. Pushing it open, he entered and set his things down on the table closest to the door and shut it. Heading into the living room area where Helen had seated herself. He turned on the light and got quite a shocker. A woman, one he hadn't met before but still! His face took a very confused expression as he stood there. "H.....How did you get in here?" Milo asked. [googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] ERASE ME AND I'M PAINTED BLACK [attr="class","next"]Helen didn’t have to wait long for Milo to return — in fact, her calculations had nearly been on the dot. Thatch arrived home and performed his normal nightly rituals before he even realized that she was there, sitting in his living room awaiting his return. She turned immediately greeting him with a certain grin that she reserved for times such as these. He was practically gaping and she wanted to reach up and shut his mouth, but instead, she reveled in the moment. The surprise was part of the fun, wasn’t it? “Down the chimney. Ho, ho, ho,” Helen said as a soft bell of laughter escaped her lips. She was so clever she complimented herself as she leaned forward, taking a better look at him. There was something about men in glasses that had Helen smirking to herself. Milo was so incredibly awkward that she couldn’t help herself. It was like watching a small fish flounder around in the open air searching for water, “Surprised?” She slipped off her gloves, one by one and put them on the table next to her chair before slipping out of her fur coat as well, “You shouldn’t be. Leaving your windows unlocked calls for quite the break-in, doesn’t it?” She was, of course, teasing, but there was no way for Milo to know these things. In fact, there was no way for Milo to know the reason that she had shown up at his home in the first place. She would have to start at the very beginning. “Good evening, Mr. Thatch,” she said, situating herself as she continued to stare at him from across the room. There was a bit of a feeling of an impasse between them. Neither chose to move immediately. She wasn’t sure that he knew any sort of self defense that would be dangerous to her, “Don't worry, I'm not here to rob you.I trust your evening was most enjoyable.” Her bright eyes lit up with a certain amount of knowing. “Helen Savage,” She put her hand forward in a delicate sort of fashion. Her wrist was limp, as if she expected him to kiss it — that was the way she expected most people to treat her. After all, she considered herself to be like royalty some times.

Milo was still unsure on how to handle this. Why was she even in here? Before he could speak she did, saying that he should keep the windows locked. It's not like there was anything in here worth stealing, unless someone had a love for books and maps. Other than that there was nothing of value that would cause anyone to want them. "Oh....well it's just that there's nothing of value here at all and I'm hardly here as it is." Milo started though he didn't have any idea on how to word this any different. What was he even suppose to do though?! She was here in his house and really he had no clue of what she would want. When she got up, Milo just stayed put though her words caused him to be surprised. She...she knew his name too? Well it was a small village so everyone was bond to hear about one another. "I..I'm sorry but can we back up for a moment here?" Milo asked when she was done talking. "What are you doing in my house and since you clearly already know several things about me, why are you following me around?" [googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] ERASE ME AND I'M PAINTED BLACK [attr="class","next"] ”Careful there, Specs,” Helen said as she stood up, shifting ever so slightly in her heels as she looked at him. She was tall on her own and the extra lift only made her legs look miles long. She had decided to name him after his adorably dorky glasses that were perched on his nose. Endearing, ever so slightly, but mostly dorky. The smile was still playing on the corner of her lips, giving her rather the impression of being a cat on the prowl — perhaps not far from the truth. “You’ve got maps and books. Surely a man like you can’t underestimate the…appeal of such things,” the blonde countered as she picked up one of the books and flipped to a page in the middle. It was empty — a journal of sorts she reasoned before she placed it back onto the table and strolled forward so she was closer to him. She circled him like a hawk, taking him in from all angles as she tried to figure it out. What was it about him? He wanted to back up? Helen blew some of her hair away from her eyes as she sucked in a deep breath. For someone that was apparently so intelligent, he certainly was having a hard time wrapping his mind around the reason that she was here, “I’m in the information business, Thatch.” Her tone was harsher than she had intended and Helen managed to back up ever so slightly so she could explain, “I’ve made it my business to know everyone else’s business. That’s what happens when you work for the castle.” It sort of dawned on her that she should let her hand drop, because he wasn’t going to kiss it. She looked down, instead, admiring the hell of a manicure that she had given herself earlier in the week. It was nice to be her, “We live in a small town. Its a little hard to keep to yourself, don’t you think?” She leaned over and picked up one of the maps that was lying on the table and gave it a quick turn as she looked at the coordinates. Curious. She was smart, something that a lot of people underestimated. She had a certain amount of tactical and strategic knowledge that came from somewhere even she couldn’t describe.

"If there's something out there worth looking for, from what I've heard the kingdom isn't looking for anything specific." Milo answered. When she picked up one of the books, he didn't protest to it. Even if he had what good would it do? She was already following him around it seemed. So why would it matter if she looked at a few books? Wait...the castle?! But he wasn't anything of value or a threat really, why did the castle have Helen spying on him? "Well no you can't really expect that but why is it you're looking into me? All I do is work in a boiler room all day long." Milo replied. (Sorry struggled with it for some reason) HELEN KATRINA SAVAGE

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] ERASE ME AND I'M PAINTED BLACK [attr="class","next"] He seemed confused. Oh Specs she thought with a grin that barely reached her eyes. He was amusing, and she would never grow tired of the cat and mouse game, but she did have a deadline that she was supposed to adhere to. Get the crystal and return back to the castle. Bringing Milo along wasn’t really in the cards, so somehow she was going to have to get it off of his neck and into her possession. Perhaps she could trade him something for it. “Yes but there is something different about you, isn’t there Milo?” Helen walked forward, her fur jacket falling past her shoulders as she did. Her bright eyes were train on his, refusing to leave as she came into his personal space and reached out to touch the small crystal that was upon his neck. “This, for example.” She breathed, her excitement nearly getting the best of her. It wasn’t anything to write back to the castle about — just a simple crystal that looked like it could have been found anywhere. But that was just it. It hadn’t been found. Milo had woken up with in in Wonderland. It was a clue and the queen, she was sure, would want to take a look at it in person, “Where did it come from?” She held it in her hands as if she was holding something that was so precious to her that she needed to be delicate with it. Her eyes slowly moved up to meet his and she raised her perfectly manicured eyebrows in a sort of yes? mannerism.

Different? Other than his intelligence what was different about him? A eyebrow was raised to her statement as he watched her come closer. That's when she reached out and grabbed hold of the crystal. Milo felt his heart skip a few beats for some reason as she held it. Was it because he viewed the item so highly? Or was it just something else? Reaching out, he took the crystal back and held it in his hand while the chain/tie part stayed around his neck. "I don't know, I woke up with and I've been trying to figure out what it is. It's not in any of the books but I do feel like it's important to me, perhaps...if I figure out what it is exactly...I'll remember..." Milo replied, glancing down at the dull crystal as he opened his had. HELEN KATRINA SAVAGE

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] ERASE ME AND I'M PAINTED BLACK [attr="class","next"] Helen was interested to see his reaction — to see if her hunch had been correct. She had concocted a theory in her head that Milo knew exactly where the crystal had come from. But she found that she was entirely disappointed. Milo seemed to know no more than the rest of them did. The crystal had been a fluke. Helen narrowed her eyes as she watched him, looking down at the dull piece of rock that was now resting in his hand. Helen thought he was onto something and raised her eyebrows, but as soon as he started his train of thought, he tapered off. “How…unfortunate that you can’t remember it. Especially since it’s so important.” She mumbled as she reached over and picked up one of the books again, flipping through it precariously as she tried to reimagine her train of thought. Maybe he was not letting on what he actually knew? “Have you met anyone else who might know what it is? Anyone else who’s interested?” Her dark eyes suddenly lifted from the book as she locked onto him, much like a missile finding its target. She had reimagined her stride and now she was left to put together the details in order to have something to report. That was the part of being a spy she liked most — like a detective, she could piece together the information but there was no reason to be moralistic about it. She could be the seductress and enchantress she wanted to be without the fear of the law.

"Many people seemed to not be able to remember things, I guess it's just some strange event that has left us all with some lose." Milo answered. It was important, he just needed to figure it out. How it tied into his past what it was that this crystal would reveal to him. While he had little idea on this he hoped that it would lead to remembering his past fully. If there was anyone else in his life that he needed to recall and well...if he was actually meant to be trapped in the boiler room forever. "I've asked a few people, a few tried to help though I'm not too sure on one of them." Milo answered. "It's hard to say if there is anything I'll be able to uncover, the help I've been given is nice and I do appreciate it but....only dead ends like to show up." HELEN KATRINA SAVAGE(It's fine. ^^)

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] ERASE ME AND I'M PAINTED BLACK [attr="class","next"] A strange event. Helen contemplated the idea for a moment before brushing it off. Milo Thatch seemed like a rather intelligent man who knew nothing about what was actually going on in wonderland and she wondered why the Queen had even bothered sending her to him in the first place. If it weren’t for the damn crystal, she would have been out the door moments after she had come in. But alas, the Queen wanted the crystal and Helen had been instructed not to leave without it. “I’d venture to guess that I could prove a not-so-dead-end.” Helen suggested as she leaned forward and touched the crystal that was around his neck again. It was a job — she reminded herself — a job that she often found she enjoyed a little too much. “What do you say, Specs? Want to loan me the pretty thing around your neck? I think my employer would be most interested in it.”

Milo's eyes went wide with hope sparking em at her words of being able to provide not such a dead end. However her mentioning of loaning the precious item seemed to cause the spark to leave him. "I...I can't do that." Milo answered pulling away and taking the crystal with him. "It's too important to loan it like that. If I wasn't suppose to keep it then I don't understand why I'd feel so....convinced of it being important to my past." He couldn't sell it or loan it, the feeling that it could be of use to finding his past was a thought that was overpowering. He couldn't ignore that nor cast this item away. HELEN KATRINA SAVAGE
