[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"] Drink me. Drink me. Drink me, drink me, drink me. Tania turned the bottle over in her hands as she looked toward the door. Teagan had brought it to her and said that she had found it in the middle of the woods near that door. Curious little thing. She held it up to the light, examining the light blue liquid with a certain amount of curiosity. Surely everyone that picked up the bottle hadn’t drank it. She briefly wondered what would happen if she did. “No,” She instructed herself, forcing her fingertips to let go as she placed it back on the kitchen table of their small home. She wasn’t going to touch it any more. She wasn’t. There was no reason for her to— Tania grabbed it again and turned it over in her hands before tossing it into the air and then grabbing it. She was going to take it back where it came from. Grabbing her sweater, she threw it around her shoulders, “I’ll be back Tea. I’ve gotta go put this back—” She wasn’t even sure her ‘sister’ was still in the house, but she didn’t want her to be confused if she was there. Tan slid out of the door and headed toward the woods. It was a familiar path; one that she traveled on a near daily basis. That was the thing about this new world, no matter what, she found that she couldn’t stay away from the things that drew her. Like the door…and this damn bottle. She looked down at it, still trying to fight the urge to drink it. It could only spell bad news like everything else in Wonderland. The bottle was such a temptation, though. Tania looked down at it, clutched in her hands. And then something in her pushed her ideas over the edge. What could it hurt? She would never know if she didn’t try. With a grin, she uncorked it and downed the whole thing. The liquid was delicious — like a cherry tart as it slid down her throat. There! See? She thought with a grin as she raised the empty bottle to the sun. It was all gone and she felt fine. She felt perfectly— Well, she had felt fine. Something started at the top of her head; a strange tingling feeling that suddenly spread through her body and Tania wondered what it was. It wasn’t until she looked down, seeing the world practically rocket toward her that she yelped — but it was quiet. Oh god. She held up her hand and it was tiny. She was tiny! Tania felt the panic seize her almost immediately and she took off in a sprint. Something clattered to the ground next to her and as she looked over, she saw the bottle that she had drunk from. Silently, she cursed her curiosity — it was unlike her to be so reckless! Then again, it was very like her to just jump the gun like that. For hours she wandered around the outskirts of the forest, trying to get someone’s attention. Teagan nearly crushed her a few times, running through the wood trying to play protector. It was impossible. Or at least, it had been until she stumbled upon a house in the woods. The recognition hadn’t hit her yet, as she realized the door was slightly ajar. Tania raced for the opportunity, surely there was someone inside who she could get to notice her. Dashing inside, she found that she had made a mistake. Pushing herself against the wall the dark haired tiny girl finally realized what was familiar. This was Buddy’s house.

The clouds were hanging low over the woods, casting a dark shadow over what could have been a warm, beautiful day. Buddy was on his way home from the village when he had noticed the particularly gloomy overcast sky. He was carrying back two paper bags of groceries down the path that led to the woods, his thoughts on anything but the people that he passed by. In this world they had been slowly developing an economy and a mode of currency. It was the beginnings of a civilization and Buddy had tried to ignore it for too long. He needed to settle down at least for the moment. He gave into the rules of this little town. He worked on the bioluminescent flowers he found out in the deepest, darkest parts of Wonderland. After many long days and nights of working, he had found that he could make the flowers shock upon touch. He had made quite the tiny fortune in selling the flowers as a means of self defense. Internally, he knew that he could do more and that there were other more complicated things that he was capable of. He opened the door to his house and walked inside, shifting the bags in his arms. He used his hip to shut the door, not noticing that it had not all the way closed. He walked to the kitchen to put up the groceries in his pantries. Nonpersihable items were the only things he was eating. He had no idea when he would go out into the village to buy food again, especially if he found a new thing to modify or invent. He emptied the bags, reaching to the very bottom of one to pull out the little treat he had gotten for himself. He took the chocolate tart and started eating it as he left the kitchen. It was then that he noticed the door that was ajar. He pushed it closed, satisfied at the click. He made a left turn down the hall and opened the door to his workspace. Buddy’s study held a system that only he seemed to understand. The walls were covered with several weapons designs, either frantically written or skillfully drawn. Papers and books were stacked all over the place as though he had never thought about buying a shelf or a bookcase. The desk was covered with pens, papers, rulers, half empty, stale cups of coffee and used candles. Buddy sat down at his desk, licking the crumbs of the tart off his fingers. “Lasers,” He said, saying the first word that came to his mind. He picked up a pen and pulled out a clean sheet of paper from his notebook. A long string of complicated words left his mouth as he muttered to himself. Numbers slowly filled up the page as the pen scratched along the paper. His teeth were worrying his lower lip as he found himself deep in concentration. TANIA ODESSA PAMYATNotes: You're fine! [googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"] It was strange being inside of his house — she couldn’t quite place it. For a moment, all Tania could do was look up at the vast ceilings and tables and decorations that he had chosen. From her vantage point, they looked huge. They stretched to the very peak of her view and then presumably reached even further. She wished she wasn’t ten inches tall. It was beginning to become an inconvenience. At that moment, she felt the buzz of the ground beneath her feet and immediately pushed heresefl even closer to the floorboards on the outskirts of the room. Buddy’s shoes came into view as he pushed the door to the house closed with a bang. She jumped, but she didn’t say anything. Not yet. Tania wasn’t in the mood to deal with another berating encounter from Buddy. He always acted like he knew so much better than her and with the simple fact that she was currently coming in at 10” tall, she didn’t want to be ridiculed. Perhaps it could be counted amongst her stubbornness. Buddy turned away from the door and began walking in the other direction. At first, she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do. Should she follow him? Leaving was out of the question now that he had closed the door and practically trapped her here. Sighing deeply, she tiptoed after him, staying particularly close to the wall, just in case there was some sort of surprise. She followed him all the way to what appeared to be his study and — judging by the vast amounts of papers and plans that cluttered the floor — it was where Buddy seemed to spend a good deal of his time. He sat down immediately and Tania wondered if she should say something. Would she even be heard? She assumed that her voice would be tiny along with the rest of her. Peering to her right, she saw what appeared to be an overly large lady bug and that was when she decided she was no longer safe on the floor. Scampering up the curtains, she used the little bit of upper body strength that she had left to finally get herself onto the edge of the desk. It was beyond where the light touched, leaving her slightly in the shadows and presumably still unseen to Buddy. She was exhausted — four feet had seemed like 200 with her small stature. Breathing a heavy sigh, she sat down quietly on the edge of the desk, trying to figure out when she should announce herself. The time never felt…right, though. She found that she wanted to watch him. The secret of her eyes on his work was almost delightful. His hand moved over the paper like Michelangelo crafting a statue made of marble and it all made sense. This was his domain — this was his art and his beauty. Tania bit down on her lip as she dared to move a bit closer. Now her eyes were drawn to his face, so caught up in the work that he was doing, he hardly even realized how adorable he was. Adorable? Come now, Tania, this is the same guy who practically verbally accosted you in the woods a couple days ago! She reminded herself. But she smiled, just the same. He seemed so different here in his own little world. He seemed so...intelligent and kind and different. "Lasers?!" She blurted, unaware that she had even said anything aloud at all.

He was so wrapped up in his work that he barely took notice of the little ladybug that was crawling along his desk. He had been having trouble with the red insects invading his home. He had been told by one of the nature loving silly girls that lived nearby that they were attracted to houses that faced the sun. It was a ridiculous idea. Most houses face north on one side. Barely skipping a beat, he flicked off the ladybug, taking no consideration for the living thing. The insect was flung off the desk with the force and it fell on the floor very dazed and confused.
Buddy was content with his concentration, not thinking there would be anything else to interrupt his work. But then he heard a noise. Someone repeated “lasers” back to him. It startled him, jumping up in the chair. The force of his weight hitting the back of his chair made it tilt back and it was only a matter of a second before the chair fell. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest as he fell back. A sharp pain ran through his head as it slammed against the wood floor. “Oh for fuck’s sake!” He yelled out as he rubbed the back of his head. This was going to give him a migraine, he knew it. He quickly moved to scramble up from the floor. He grabbed onto the edge of the desk to pull himself up. Who could have said it? There was no one here.
But then he saw it. He held his breath in wonder as he saw the miniature girl standing on his desk. It was the girl that he met only a few days ago except she was much shorter and in his house. She was only a few inches tall now. And what a pity that this was the first time he had seen her legs and he couldn’t appreciate the length. His very first words were a question, “How did you do that?” He asked in absolute awe and curiosity. He leaned in so he could take a better look at her. His next words were not so friendly, “And what the absolute hell are you doing in my house?” He snapped at her as he continued to move his hand along the back of his head.
He used both his hands to cup around her, picking her up off his desk. He opened his hands slightly to look down at the girl he had in the palm of his hand. “I bet this was you drinking something toxic or touching something magical or going somewhere you don’t belong, wasn’t it?” He didn’t wait for her to answer before he started walking out of his study. “Well what was it?” He prompted. He was no longer angry, now he was just excited. His eyes lit up as he kicked the door of his study shut. He walked to the living room who was less cluttered (though not by much) than his workspace. He sat down on the couch, propping his feet on the coffee table. “And where can I find it? Oh you can’t believe how useful this can be. I can probably extract the shrinking compound and….Please! You’ve got to tell me everything.” He was already making plans in his self-proclaimed genius brain to working out some sort of diabolical plan.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"] She realized too late that she had spoken aloud and the chain of event that followed were directly caused by her. Buddy jumped and went crashing into the floor. Tania winced as she rushed to the edge of the desk, “Shit. Shit shit shit.” She said waiting for him to get back up. He wasn’t dead, right? Surely she hadn’t killed him. A pang of guilt hit her as she fell onto her knees and leaned even a bit more forward, trying to get a better look. At that precise moment, the wind from his body rocketing back to his feet knocked her back. Things were rough being small.Tan exhaled as she let herself collapse even more, lying flat on the desk. She hadn’t killed him. She wasn’t sure she would want to be responsible for the death of Buddy…let alone anyone. She lay there for a few seconds, looking up at the drawing that were pinned to the ceiling. How had he even gotten up there, “Buddy—?” She began to point to the ceiling right as she realized there was a tussle of red hair peeking out from the edge of the desk. She propped herself up onto her elbows as she looked at him. From here, she could see the tiny flecks of gold in his eyes and every hair that seemed to be so out of place and yet so perfect at the same time. About to say hello, he started in on her — asking all the questions that he had in his head. He came forward at an alarming rate, causing Tania to push herself backwards on the desk to avoid colliding with his face, “Woah there. How did I do what?” She asked, reaching up to brush some of her dark hair away from her eyes as she watched him. It was only then that she remembered how tiny she was. About to explain, he cut her off again, “I’ll have you know you left the door open.” She muttered.Buddy grabbed her and it was surprisingly gentle the way that he cupped his hands around her tiny frame. He lifted her up, “Could you keep your hands to yourself?” She pouted as she plopped to the ground in his hands. It was much safer for her to travel sitting down, she reasoned. They walked through the door of the study and moved on to somewhere else, somewhere that Tania didn’t recognize, “A bottle of liquid.” She said quietly as he plopped down into the couch and threw his feet up upon the coffee table. It was very disorienting being small, she thought as she turned backwards to take a look around his house. She wasn’t sure what she had been expecting, but this certainly wasn’t it. Maybe there was a part of her that thought it would look like a dingy cave inside…but it didn’t.“Teagan brought it home. Said she found it near the door. I knew that for was bad news.” She was silently cursing herself again for being stupid enough to actually drink the liquid. Why did it matter? Suddenly she was feeling a sense of embarrassment about being around Buddy like this. She wished there was somewhere for her to hide, but she was quite literally trapped in the palm of his hands, “It was in a bottle that said ‘Drink me.’ That’s all I know.” She folded her arms across her chest as she raised her chin indignantly. She didn’t know how small animals did it. Being this small was terribly degrading. Squeezing her eyes closed she knew she would regret what she was about to do, “I don’t suppose you’ve got something that can make me big again, do you?” She opened one eye very slowly and watched for his reaction.

Buddy’s hands felt warm as he held Tania. There was a slight smirk on his lips as he realized that he had gotten away with touching her although it was not in the way he casually thought about. “I didn’t leave it wide open. You obviously snuck in. Though I wonder why you decided to come in here.” He said in amusement. Yes, why would she come in? Surely she had friends and associates that would be more than willing to rescue this damsel in distress. He had just met her and he knew that he did not leave her with a very good impression. Not that he cared, why should he care? Why should he alter himself for anyone?
“I could put you down so you can follow me. Though I can’t say that I have time for you to walk that far,” He said as he continued to carry her. He didn’t mind this method of travel and he figured that she couldn’t mind either. “A bottle of liquid? A random bottle of liquid that said “drink me” on it? And you thought that it was a good idea to drink it despite how sketchy it is?” He let out a snort at her foolishness, “You really are stupid aren’t you?” He said, chuckling. She should know that she should take better care of herself so she would not let this happen to her It could have been worst. She would have been killed and that wasn’t good. He wouldn’t be happy about that.
At her request, he let out a barking laugh, short and fierce, “You think that I can help you? Is that why you came here?” She seemed so nervous in his hands and he thought about how easy it would be to flick her aside like the ladybug he had before, her body hitting the wall and crushing her bones. Though he was attracted to power, there was something unsatisfying about that visualization in his mind.
He thought that perhaps he could get his hands on whatever she had used to make herself small. He was not trained in dealing with liquids or consumables, but how hard it could be. He wondered if he could find the potion again or the person that had made it. “I’m afraid that you’ll have to stay tiny until either the potion wears off, if it wears off, or until you find something. Why should I go out of my way to help you?” He asked her as he went to bend over to put his hands on the coffee table. He released his hold on her and gave a wave of his hand, shooing her away.
Even though it was not in his nature to care about others, there was something that was prompting him to at least see what he could do to help her out. But he couldn’t do these things out of charity. He didn’t have that generous part in his heart. “Unless there is something you can offer me,” He prompted her, a devious grin on his face, wondering what he could get out of her. His time would be better spent in his workshop, he knew that in the long run it would be the better venture. But he could risk this. If he found something that could increase or decrease the size of a person than this could change everything for him. His tiny business could really take off. And while he was hellbent on getting through the door and finding out what happened to everyone’s memories, he knew that he had to settle down. Buddy had to do something to make a living until he could find a breakthrough.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"] Tania wanted to argue with him. She hadn’t just stunk into his house for no reason. She had been frightened. Being out there only a few inches tall had her spooked and she went for the first house that she saw. It wasn’t entirely her fault that he had left the door ajar. There was something smug about what Buddy was saying, something that made her gulp as she tried to get her bearings and right herself. She wasn’t just going to let him treat her like that, was she? “It was open.” She countered, “And the only reason I came in was because it was the closest place I could get to. I’ve been out there all day.” She sounded sour and she knew it, but her feeling was that Buddy probably deserved it at this point. He was right, it had been foolish of her. But she just couldn’t resist. The allure of Wonderland had bested her multiple times over the past couple of months — she was curious, perhaps too curious for her own good. And maybe there had been a part of her that thought that it would restore her memory. What if it had? Then would he be laughing at her like that? “I thought maybe it had something to do with our memories. Tea found it near the door and the door—” She shook her head. Buddy released her and she immediately stood on the coffee table, looking up at him, her arms still folded. She should have known better than to ask for his help. Rude she thought with a growl, but she didn’t want to leave. She knew that he was her best chance, despite the fact that she practically hated him. Or at least, she thought she hated him. He shooed her with his hand and she resisted the urge to stick out her tongue at him. How absolutely pompous! “Unless there is something you can offer me.”Her eyes shot up immediately as she glared at him, “What kind of something?” She asked immediately, not liking his tone of voice. She folded her arms again. Tania just wanted to be normal sized — that was all that she wanted. She shouldn’t have ever drunk the potion. She looked down at her little miniature converse sneakers and bit down on her lip. She would have to play to get what she wanted and she knew it. His hands were still lingering on the coffee table and she sighed, “Buddy.” She looked up at him as she rested her tiny fingertips on his forefinger. She wasn’t above begging, was she? It felt so strange, “Please?” She asked as she looked down at his palm and saw the tiny scar that she had created with the rose thorn those days ago. She almost felt bad now and reached down to brush it with her hand, “I’ll do…whatever you want. Free nurse visits? You got it. A good word with the village? Yours.” She looked up hopefully.
NOTES my bbys. <3 i'm thinking it should eventually wear off by itself, yeah? and then tania's so happy that she hugs him and insists on staying on his couch. OUTFIT click [newclass=.next::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px;[/newclass][newclass=.next::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #000;[/newclass]

Impressive. “You’ve been outside all day and you haven’t been eaten? And you have avoided being stepped on and trampled? Good for you, you aren’t entirely useless,” Buddy said, figuring that if she was outside for more than a few moments than a bird would swoop down and feed her to her young. But it seemed that she was crafty enough to avoid certain death. He imagined that she would not be able to get herself out of sticky situation. She either had the brains or the brawns to get through it and he had to admire her for that. Wait, no admire her? For sheer dumb luck of not being something’s lunch? That wasn’t something worth applause.
“And you figured that you would just drink it instead of trying to ask someone about it? Maybe me or someone in the village? You’re awfully too adventurous for someone with your weakness,” He said, taking delight in insulting her. Especially when she was so small and he had so much to work with. But he couldn’t blame her enthusiasm, especially if she truly believed that the potion was somehow connected to their memories. He wondered if drinking random bottles of drink was her first step, how far would she go with she was truly desperate?
There was power there, having her so small and he so big. Her tiny hands on his finger coupled with the way she asked for his help. ‘Please,’ she told him, her hand now touching his palm where there was a lit dot from his injury days earlier. He could indulger her or he could deny her. It all depended on what he wanted to do. “I could use a nurse on call. If I keep you safe until you are big again, I want you to promise to come whenever I need you for whatever reason to treat whatever or whoever I need you to. And you cannot ask questions,” He stood up, figuring that he had got his way. She didn’t have a lot of choice in the manner. Buddy could throw her out of his house and leave her to the mercy of the woods.
“Try not to fall off anything or hurt yourself until I come back. I want to see something,” He said, an idea going through his head. He ran to his study, grabbing the first piece of paper he could find. “Hold on, I want to see something,” He told her as he ran back to the coffee table. He used his nimble hands to fold different angles of the paper before setting it down on the table, “Get in,” He prompted her as he waved his hand at the paper airplane. He wanted to see what happened.
He would not tell this to anyone. Buddy kept this secret close to himself. He always wondered what it felt like to fly. He wondered if he could find a way here in Wonderland to feel himself in the air. But there were so many other things that took precedent. He couldn’t afford that luxury to do things that he wanted.
TANIA ODESSA PAMYAT Note: Sounds good. He's going to have fun with her until then. She's like a little toy now. Then when he awkwardly pushes her away after the hug, he can ask her out. Bbbies!

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"]Not entirely useless? Was that a compliment? Tania wasn’t sure what to say, but she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks as it had in the woods a few days ago. The strange feeling in the pit of her stomach was back and she took the opportunity to look away. It wasn’t as if he would really be able to see her blush when she was so small, regardless. It was a matter of pride, she supposed. But he was right back to insulting her within a few seconds, bringing up how silly she was to have drunk the potion. Tania couldn’t necessarily disagree, considering she herself had thought it stupid. But her memories — or lack thereof — had her out of sorts. She craved to know. She needed to know. There was a part of her that regretted hurting him the other day. She had only done it to prove a point, but seeing the light light across his palm made her feel guilty. Little Tania bit down on her lip as she continued to look up at him, hoping — praying — that he would help her. If she couldn’t get Buddy, she wasn’t sure where she was going to turn, “Done. Nurse Pamyat at your service.” She said with a nod as he asked for his own personal nurse. She could do it, she wouldn’t mind. The not asking questions part would be a little more difficult, however. About to say something more, Buddy stood up, startling her as she backed away from his hand. For some reason, there was a looming thought in the back of her mind that told her to be careful and wary. She was little and the fall from the coffee table could spell the end of her existence if she didn’t constantly guard herself. A paper airplane? Tania looked up at him before she shook her head , “Uh uh.” She wanted to say no, she really did but the idea of flying? It intrigued her. She put her hand over her mouth, debating. It was dangerous, but it was probably the only time that she would get to experience something like that. Pressing her lips into a thin line, they started to curve against her will, exposing a gleeful smile that she had been suppressing. She wanted to know what it was like and she was going to do it. Stepping lightly over the paper, she positioned herself in the little pocket that Buddy had created in the middle of the contraption, "Have you ever tested this before? I mean for all you know I could go crashing to the ground in record time..." It didn’t seem safe in the slightest — in fact, it seemed more like a death trap than anything. She glanced up at him for a moment, observing the strange twinkle in his eyes. It wasn’t something that she had seen before and it closely resembled a look of excitement, “Buddy — be careful…with me.” She muttered the last part as she gripped the edge of the paper terrified of what would happen if he launched her into the air recklessly. She was like a tiny infant in his arms. The possibility of ruin lay on the surface.

Buddy hoped that she would keep her word because he planned to keep his. He was not against working with people. He knew that they had their uses and he was not strong enough to do everything on his own. He just did not want to associate himself with anyone, too fixated on getting out of this realm. It wasn’t familiar to him. Even though he had no memories to recall, he had a stinging feeling that talking flowers were not part of his world. Things were more conservative and less fantastic. He had to swallow a bit of his pride, starting with Tania.
Tania had shaken her head, fear evident in her stance yet at the same time excitement. And that was what he expected. From her standpoint, it must look very intimidating. She would get inside and try it out. He knew it. She could not resist the allure no more than he could if he were in that situation. He watched as her tiny body got into the nook of the plan. At her question, he thought back to the numerous paper planes he had thrown when he was in the depths of a writer’s block of sorts. It was basic gravity and velocity. And his experience with design allowed him to experiment with the flight time and pattern of the craft. “I let a ladybug craw in once before I threw one. It seemed okay when it landed,” He said with a shrug of the shoulders.
Be careful…He had never thought about being careful just because it was Tania, but then again he had made an agreement. That must be what she was talking about. “Nothing is going to happen to you. I promise,” He told her as he went to pick up the airplane, his movements slow as he looked around the room. He walked over to where the living room met the hallway that would lead to the kitchen and his workspace. He turned to face the coffee table and the couch behind it. He looked at Tania and told her. “Hang on tight and trust me.” He took a deep breath before he counted down, “Three. Two. One.” With a flick of his wrist, he threw the paper plane, not with force but with finesse. He watched as the paper plane glided at a slow speed (slow to him, probably not so much to her). He followed it, ready to catch the plane if it decided to nose dive on him.
But it flew steadily, losing altitude with each passing moment until it landed on the couch. Buddy walked to the couch and sat down next to the paper plane. He picked Tania up, looking her over for any possible energy. “How was it? I bet it was fun. Kind of a weightless feeling right? Euphoric?” He shot off questions with a light in his eyes. He wasn’t jealous that she had gotten the opportunity. He was happy for her. He knew that his day would come soon.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"]It seemed ‘okay’?! Tania bit down on her lip, fairly hard as she thought about the possibility of dying. This could be it. She could very well be spending her last moments as a tiny little bug soaring through the air completely at the will of Buddy Pine. She might. The brunette gulped as she looked up at him, trying to get a read on what he was thinking. Something was different in the way that he spoke — something that made the pit of her stomach feel like it was doing summersaults. It was just the nerves, she assured herself. It had to be. ”Nothing is going to happen to you. I promise.”And she believed him. There was a sincerity in his voice, something that she hadn’t heard before. Her knuckles were turning white from the amount of force that she was exerting to hold herself still in the miniature airplane. What if she threw up? That would be terribly embarrassing. Buddy would probably never let her live it down either, would he? She would remain his little ridiculous pet for the rest of her— “Three. Two. One.”She was flying. The pit of her stomach flipped over and the wind was rushing through her hair at what felt like a million miles per hour. She was free — she was flying and she was free. A million thoughts rushed through her head, but none of them stuck. They were all just passing ideas that flitted in and out of her brain, blessing her with their presence before they disappeared into nothingness. She was gliding through the air as she stuck out her hands, side to side, feeling the air swoosh around them. She laughed. For the first time all day, Tania laughed a true and delighted sort of laughter. But before she knew it, it was over. The plane slowly made its dismount and landed on the couch with a screech (to her). Immediately she jumped out of the plane, her head spinning, her heart thumping in her chest as she looked up at the looming shadow that was suddenly over her. Buddy picked her up, his eyes searching her as if he was looking for something. Was he checking to make sure that she wasn’t hurt? Tania immediately shook her head, shaking away the very thought. That was so incredibly un-Buddy like that there was no way. “It was…It was incredible! Buddy you have to try it! You have to!” She gushed running to the edge of his palm and stopping right before she toppled over. She wanted to reach up and touch his face, explain to him how it had felt, but he was too far away and she was much too small. “It was like being free. Can we do it again?” She wrapped her arms around herself as she spun around in a circle. She wanted to do it again — she wanted to do it a thousand times. As she spun, the tiny Tania fell and laughed as she sat in the palm of his hand, staring up at his face. He was beautiful in a strange sort of way. Maybe those were the kinds of things people who were small noticed. She could kiss him! Wait, what? Tania felt her face go bright red at the very thought. What was she thinking? Of course she couldn’t kiss him. This was Buddy Pine! This was the pain in her butt that she had practically sworn to loathe for the rest of their lives in Wonderland. She reached up and pressed her cool hands to her cheeks, hoping to stop the blush before it could run any further. Her limbs were starting to feel funny — suddenly she felt rather as if she was running a fever.

She was laughing and it was a nice thing to touch the ears, something that made his heart jump up in his chest. Why he felt his way over some flighty girl he wasn’t sure. She seemed to enjoy herself and he listened as she told him all about the flying. She didn’t look like she had been injured in flight which was a good thing. That meant that the paper plane was safe and could be used again. He could feel the enthusiasm in his hands. He could sense the high she had gotten from the flight and he secondhand joy was passed on to him. He was grinning, picking up on her excitement. He moved his hands slightly, making sure she didn’t fall over and fall down on the rug.
“You may not have noticed but I am a bit too large to try the plane and I am many months away with coming up with something of my own size to use,” He told her. No doubt that such a large craft could take that long to complete and he also had to gather the materials. He also wondered if there was a valley he could use to test the gliding craft. Once he got the hang of gliding he could go further than that. Oh his mind was going a million miles a moment. To think of what he was capable of and what he could make…
“Again?” Well wasn’t she a spunky one? “Maybe in a bit. I don’t want you to get sick,” He said as he went to get up from the couch. He was tempted to move a finger to her, to feel her and wonder how she would feel being so small. Buddy also wondered how much he would get away with since he could do whatever he wanted with her. But he made a promise. He kept his promises, as far as he knew anyway. If she did not follow her end of the bargain, then he could lash out and use her. Either way, he needed to get these thoughts out of his head. He left the paper plane and went to walk to the kitchen. “You must be hungry being stuck in the forest,’ He said, looking down at her.
Buddy sat Tania down on the kitchen counter and he went to lean up and open the cabinet. “I hope that you don’t like tea because I don’t have it. It seems like everyone in this place drinks tea.” There was a sour expression on his face at the thought of the hot, tasteless drink. Drinks should be cold with massive amounts of sugar and caffeine. “I have coffee and I can make biscuits. And once you get big again, you can pay me back,” He said as he pulled down the coffee bag from the cabinet. He collected his kettle as well and went to put it under the faucet of the sink. He filled the kettle with water before setting it on the stove to boil.
As he fiddled around with the preparation of the biscuits, he could feel her gaze on him and it made him feel….nervous? Was that a creeping anxiety growing in him? But why? She was nothing to be worried about. She shouldn’t even be here in his life. And yet she was, invading his personal oasis away from the average people that assembled in this world. She was just like everyone else…Well…she was a bit different. She had bravery and cleverness…Like a lotus growing up out of mud.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"] Tania wondered what it would be like. Flying through the air again — this time with Buddy. She imagined reaching for his hand as they hit peak altitude. Laughing and screaming their way through the air. Freedom. No restrictions, no expectations, just the pair of them, “Huh?”“Again? Maybe in a bit. I don’t want you to get sick.”“Oh,” He had answered her with such confidence that Tania found herself actually taken aback. Her cheeks flushed again, this time surely coloring her red. As she sank into the palm of his hand, she touched the scar again with her fingertips — nothing more than the gentle brush of her tiny fingertips against his skin. Buddy Pine. She repeated his name in her head. He was not like the other boys. The boys in the village thought Tania immature, she knew. She had heard them whispering about her. But Buddy didn’t — he indulged the strange ideas that she had in her head and it gave her hope that there was more out there then just what they had seen. There was still so much to learn. “A little, yeah.” She had been wondering around all day without anything to eat. It dawned on her as she placed her hand over her stomach; it gave a growl. She shook her little head in response to his statement — she actually hated tea. Well at least, hot tea that came in little tea cups. There was something strange about it. Instead, she preferred the sugary kid that had ice stacked to the top of the glass, especially on hot summer’s days like today. Tania’s chin jerked when he mentioned being big again. She was rather enjoying being little. He was far nicer to her when she was the size of a small doll rather than an actual human and feared that when she returned to normal size he would be right back to his regular self. No, now Buddy was sweet and verging on kind. Tania watched him carefully as he started preparing their food. His hands moved in a sort of expert fashion and she wondered what kind of person he had been before this. Had he been a mechanic? A baker? She couldn’t see him as anything other than an engineer really — probably the smartest of his class with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Buddy probably had never been able to express that he had a heart of gold down there but she had seen a glimpse of it. “What do you think about Wonderland? I mean, really think about it?” She asked as she sat down indian style on the counter. Sort of leaning forward and cocking her head to the side as she started to count the freckles on his cheek. Surely there were hundreds, “I sort of…” She trailed off as she got to her feet, following his hands with her eyes as she stood and began walking across the countertop, “I don’t know. It feels weird. Everything about it feels weird.” She loved her sister and her job, but there was something unsettling about not remembering who she was. Maybe Buddy understood that, “The talking flowers the way everyone just ignores the fact that five months ago no one has any idea who they were…”Her voice trailed off again, for this time her eyes were glued to the kitchen window where a beautiful rose bush had grown up the panels of Buddy’s house. The white petals brought back a strangely fond memory of their first meeting. The tingling feeling in her hands was beginning to spread, ricocheting up her arms and legs, but she ignored it. She walked back toward him, taking a seat on his hand that was resting on the counter. She liked being close to him for some reason, “How can we just ignore something like that? We pretend like this is the way it’s always been, but what if it’s not?” She wondered aloud. Buddy was the only person she felt comfortable talking about this stuff with for some reason.

He had woken up in this strange world alone and with no memories to serve him. He had no one, no friends or family. Everyone seemed to find other people to live with. Perhaps he had been alone in his previous life. There was a bitterness about it. He was between a rock and a hard place. He wanted to be with people and yet at the same time, he didn’t want it. Instead he spent his time trying to figure out a way to get out of this strange world. He had found the door, heard the stories about someone dying as they tried to open it. And all of a sudden, numbers and designs and blueprints ran through his mind as though remnants from his past life, a life he didn’t remember. He seemed to have education in design, specifically weapons and flying crafts. Sometimes he would wake up in the mornings as though he remembered. But as he left the unconscious world, it was taken from him in a flash.
“I think that Wonderland is unpredictable and dangerous and that people are far too content to be here. I don’t understand it. I don’t want to. I want to go home. Wherever that may be. Somewhere with a waterfall I hope,” He muttered as he stuck the pan of biscuits in the oven, slamming the door shut. Somewhere with good electricity and plumbing wouldn’t be too bad either. And people…what if he had been forced to come here but whatever he had was back in his world, his home? He couldn’t imagine being a large social butterfly, but there had to be someone. There had to be people with the same sort of engineering background and intelligence as he. He needed someone to bounce ideas off of, someone to critique his work. Someone to be loyal to him…Something stung within him at that thought. As though he had lost that loyalty. As someone betrayed his trust or did he betray theirs? Was that the reason why he was alone?
Something dark, something angry, something resentful, something bitter.
He had gotten up on the counter, sitting on it and letting his legs dangle. He looked over to Tania and watched as she sat on his hand. There was a ghost of a smile on his face before he went to raise his hand. He took a better look at her and somehow he couldn’t imagine just putting her out now. He would probably still be in his workplace, still working and still oblivious to everything that would happen outside his house. And he probably wouldn’t have noticed the roses that were growing outside of his kitchen window. “Well, I’m going to get out of here. If everyone is happy here, they can stay here.” He wondered why the flowers chose to grow here out of all of his neighbors. Maybe he should cut them. People will get ideas about him if he had flowers around his house. They would think that he was someone sensitive they could go to in their times of trouble and he was most certainly not anyone’s therapist.
He set Tania down on the counter as he went to take off the coffee kettle from the stove. He went to collect a mug for himself and a teaspoon from the cabinet. He poured the coffee into his mug and in the little teaspoon. He set the teaspoon next to Tania before asking, “Cream or sugar?” He asked as he went to take the sugar bag and promptly dumped a gracious plenty into his mug, letting it settle for a moment before he started to stir it with a spoon he had gotten out.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I WILL SHOW YOU FEAR IN A HANDFUL OF DUST [attr="class","next"] Where was home? Tania looked up at him, the confusion evident in her eyes. She felt the same — she longed for something she could not quite understand and she knew it was silly. Neither of them had any idea what they were missing. What if she hated who she had been before? What if he hated who he was before? Would they ever really know, she wasn’t sure. She would have given anything to see what was churning in his head — what strange thoughts he was drumming up. Tania could only imagine what it was that made Buddy tick. Her body was lifted into the air along with his hand and she let out a tiny gasp in response. It was almost like flying again, but more safe. She felt safe with him. An interesting turn of events, she supposed. And she most certainly didn’t want him to go away from Wonderland. Her cheeks stung with a blush again as she contemplating asking him to take her with him. But she wouldn’t. It was too strange. Everyone was banding together because they had no choice — they felt stranded and they latched on to the first person that they connected with. She wouldn’t be that kind of person…at least, that was what she hoped, "I think a waterfall would be nice." She wondered if maybe that was his way of remembering. Perhaps their dreams were they reality. She shook her head. Surely things didn't work like that. As Buddy placed her back down on the counter she felt a pang of disappointment as he walked away. She wasn’t sure of the reason she had grown so attached to him in the time that they had spent together. Perhaps it was just nice for her to be able to talk candidly to someone who she thought understood her. He was rough around the edges, she had already established that in her mind. But he cared — or at least, that was the impression that she was beginning to get. "What if you're not happy there either? I can't help but wonder what would happen if I ended up hating who I was before—" It had only been five months. How strange it was to think. Perhaps her attachment to Buddy was more deeply rooted than just the feeling of understanding. She related to him. No, she wasn’t a moody recluse, but she, too liked her coffee with extra sugar and understood the way that he felt about Wonderland. She got the sense that maybe they could have known each other back then. He placed a small spoon next to Tania and she grinned, “You can just pile that on here, too.” She said, nodding toward the abhorrent amount of sugar that he had just put in his own cup of coffee. She pressed her lips to the tiny (well normal sized to her) spoon and took a sip. It was delicious — a blend of flavors she hadn’t had before in combination. But the pit of her stomach suddenly felt a little off. Tania stood up, her eyes wide as she pressed her palms into her stomach. She was feeling faint. Was that the light that everybody talked about? Leaning forward she felt the strange feeling shoot through the rest of her limbs as tiny Tania fell off the countertop and hurtled to the floor. It was like flying again — the very thing that she knew she loved. Freedom. But it was also dangerous — wasn’t everything? The fall was shorter than she thought it would be — by the time that she hit the floor — her head taking most of the impact — she was back to her normal size, "Ow." She managed.
