Xans shift at the chocolate shop had just ended and she, as per usual, took running out the door. She had discovered a little area just on the outskirts of town where she could easily build things and hide them safely from the rain. A cave of sorts, but fairly wide open. She had been asked by Jack Skelington to find a way to make various rides and attractions run smoothly at the festival. This was her specialty! Locomotives and the like. So, she often found herself in her wide mouthed cave the second she was off work. Which was where she was now. Wonderland had many things she could use, but they were all a bit strange and a little hard to work with at times. She felt like there was some other kind of material that would be easier for her... something denser, shinier... well, either way she was working with what she had. She had gathered stones, different plants and many other things here and there to build a sort of engine. She was working on the first prototype for the Ferris Wheel. She had maybe been there for an hour or two, and it was starting to get dark. She lit the lanterns on the cave walls, but that was when she heard someone walking nearby the cave. Eh, maybe they were just passing through? KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

Kovu's day started off climbing into an apple tree around noon to pick a bag full of fresh apples from the top so the villagers didn't realise he was taking so much from them. He returned the apples, and oranges, to the attic of which he was squatting, still unsure if anyone was ever going to move into the home below. He placed the bag in the corner of the room under a blanket he had swiped days ago. If one looked around the attic he lived in they would see plenty of cloth hanging, either blankets or clothing he wore. There were chairs from the rooms in the house below, as well as a bed he had manuvered to the room. Basically, everything in the attic had been taken from somebody else.
The rest of the sunlight was wasted by snooping on people of the village. Kovu enjoys knowing what they were doing, who they were. He actually enjoyed watching others enteract with one another and it seemed as though they all lived such different lives. Kovu didn't fit into the village, they were all so.. Privilaged compared to him. The sun finally set and Kovu was heading to the woods when he heard such loud noises on the outskirts. It seemed as if it was coming from a cave and what in the world was illuminating in there? Although he tried to stay quiet, to creep up on the noise, his foot slipped on a rock. Kovu didn't fall but the skuffed noise was loud, as was the rock that went tumbling through the cave.
"Ooops.."

"Hey!" Xan called out, flipping all the way around and pointing at her visitor. "Don't just stand there like a creeper or I'll have to throw something at you," she said before turning back to her project and getting back to work on it. Eh, the guy could come check it out if he wanted to or he could just keep walking. Either way, Xan didn't need to sit and wait to see what he would do, she had a project to finish! Not to mention that nothing could distract her from her building things for long. It was almost like an addiction. In fact, she was dead sure that she was some kind of engineer in her other life. She was so comfortable here with her tools and with random things to build with. She didn't need chocolate or- what? Chocolate? Making something out of candy... What an inspired idea!
"Hey, I could use a hand if you're still lurking," she said, not bothering to turn and see if the guy was still there.

Kovu wasn't exactly looking for anything nor anyone, he was just curious as to what the noise was and figured once he'd find out he would head to Scar's place. When Kovu's noise made it's way to the girl's ears, she called out to him and even pointed. Her voice was strong for such a young, feminine voice. Kovu froze, blinking once, twice, a third time before even taking another step into the cave. He remained quiet, still observing what she was making from some distant. What in the world was it? A few minutes passed before she called out again. She seemed fearless, not even caring who exactly she just invited to help her.
Kovu quietly slicked into the cave and stayed close to the wall. "What-" Kovu started, examining this crazy contraption before him. "What is it?" He scrunched his nose, not even bothering to take a look at the girl from where he was standing. Scar would be furious that he didn't follow protocol.

Of course, the guy got preoccupied in wondering what the thing was. Xan sighed, wiping the sweat off her forehead and continuing to work. She didn't turn around, for her hands were a bit preoccupied and she had to focus. "It's an engine, of sorts. Trying to build something for the festival."
She had no idea how she could build so well with such strange materials, but it came so naturally to her. It was easy to get lost in this train of thought and have no idea what time it was or how much time had passed. It was almost a sanctuary of sorts... A place where she felt safe and happy. Whether someone butted in or not.

An engine of sorts. Kovu still had no clue what that meant but he was intrigued that she could make it from scratch. The girl said she was making something for the festive and Kovu raised his chin. He had seen flyers about the festival for a couple days now and had no intention of going to such a thing.
Kovu scoffed, "A festival? This town is having a festival?" he chuckled at the thought of everyone coming together for something that seemed so lame. What was the point of inviting everyone -good and bad- to something like that? "You people are asking for trouble." He said lowly.

"Yea, what do you live under a rock?" Xan responded with a little giggle as he question the festivals existence. Hadn't he seen all he signs around town, the forest and the palace? The event planner, Jack, was a brilliant guy and he had spared no expense in advertising. Now he was saying that they were asking for trouble? She turned around this time, cocking an eyebrow at him, "What kind of trouble? The good kind, I hope!" she winked at the strangely angsty guy and turned back to the engine, sticking her hands deeper into the contraption, hoping that it didn't start winding and grinding on her and crushing her hands. Oh crap, now she really needed that wrench beside her. Or, well, that's what she decided to call the strangely shaped object that she had created to tighten things with. KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

"I live in an attic.." The young man spoke close to a whispering tone, he obviously didn't get the joke she was making. Kovu turned his attention from the crazy contraption she was making to the girl's face. He paused for a moment- she was actually pretty. It wasn't like Kovu thought she was going to be unattractive or.. well, the point was he didn't think about what she might have looked like in the least bit when approaching this place. Kovu quickly shrugged it off as he moved closer to her and the engine she was making. He lowered his brows and smirked softly, "Well you get the wrong people together and bad things are bound to happen." His eyes stared down on her as he attempted to make the most intimidating look he could muster up- it usually worked.
"I don't think you'll like it too much."

Xan didn't hear the attic comment, but it didn't really matter. He looked at her for a moment, as if contemplating her and what to say. So, she surveyed him in turn. Yeah, he was good looking. Very, actually. He took another step closer and she moved to the side, just in case he wanted to get a better look at the engine. Now, that was an odd thing to say. Bad things happened? Then his smirk vanished, which was a shame, and he looked as though he was going to eat her or something. She raised an eyebrow, starting at him for a moment before she burst out into laughter. "Well, if you don't like festivals them don't come. I'm going to enjoy it though," she placed both hands firmly on her hips. KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

Kovu was taken back at the fact that this girl just studied his face but it didn't matter. His scowling look did nothing to the girl, not a single goose-bump or feeling of unease. She was quick to dismiss it and his comment towards the festival. Well if you don't like festivals then don't come. She said plainly, causing Kovu's face to soften. His natural resting face was not one of intimidating but of a softer look.
He was confused for a moment- this girl actually confused him. She was completely unfaced by him. He stumbled to find a sentence to string together a response- what exactly was he to say to such an optimistic response? Whatever he was going to say he had to commit to it. Kovu tightened his jaw and tilted his chin down towards his chest with his eyes still on the girl.
"I don't think you'll enjoy it too much." He spoke deeply, looking from her eyes down to the engine she was creating. "You'll see."

His face changed to a softer one when she showed that the glare wasn't working out. She was sure she had been in situations before where someone had tried to intimidate her but... what did she had to lose? She had no memory here and therefore didn't really have a past. Well, she had her Wonderland claimed brother Ralph... he would be quite upset if something happened to her and probably crush the person who did it. So, she really didn't have anything to be afraid of. Plus, the guy just looked plain hilarious doing it, didn't he? Well, at least Xan thought so. Still, his jaw was tightened and he was still serious. She sighed, rolling her eyes at his apparent threat toward her engine. She turned to look at it before turning back to him with an eyebrow raised "All right, so either help me finish this so nothing bad happens, or get out of here," she wasn't being mean, per say, more like mocking his attitude. Clearly intimating people was not Kovu's strong suit. No matter how many stern looks he had flashed at this girl she was completely unfaced. She was immune to any form of intimidation and Kovu was sick of even trying. Defeated, he lost the tense look he carried in his shoulders and face. Within seconds the young man went back to his casual look of content and curiosity. He looked around the cave's floor at the tools she had laying around. He let out a deep breath before looking back at the girl in front of the engine.
"I've got nothing else to do.." He spoke softly with a shrug. "Fine. What do you need?" Kovu spoke plainly. It was better to stop wasting this one's time with his failing tactics and possibly make it up to her. Kovu would simply have to seek out Scar for a few more pointers another time.

Xan had met her fair share of villains, and rarely had the intimidation act worked. She just didn't take things that seriously. Sometimes that got her into major trouble, even if she didn't remember it, but overall people just ended up getting confused by her snarky retorts and ended up walking away or befriending her. She found it was best to treat everyone as innocent until they actually did something bad... well, it wasn't the smartest philosophy but it worked for her. Finally, he seemed to give up and agreed to help her. He didn't seem thrilled, of course, but she was glad that he was going to give it a shot. "Good," she said firmly, turning back to the machine like thing in front of her. "Come down here. I need someone to hold this right here while I tighten the bolt around it. Comprende?" she said, gesturing to where she needed a hand. It was quite lucky that he stumbled by, even if he was trying to be scary. "I'm Xan, by the way," she added. KOVU JACQUES ASSEMBÉ

Come down here. I need someone to hold this.. she referenced to the area that was lower and how to hold it properly for her. Kovu fought the urge to roll his eyes, he couldn't believe he was helping this.. this stranger make whatever the heck she was making. He let out another deep breath as he placed his hand on the object and moved it back into place for her to do what she needed.
Kovu turned his head to look at her as she introduced herself to him. "Kovu." He replied with a small nod. The ends of his lips curled into a soft smile. Kovu hadn't actually looked at the girl in light before this moment- she was very beautiful.
"So, do you have like.. Names for these things?" He asked, referencing to the bolt in her hand. "Or do you just-" Kovu scrunched his face, "ya know know what they are? Kovu had no idea what any of this stuff was, mechanics weren't really his thing nor were they even around in his other life.
