[googlefont="Yellowtail"] Why Do I Feel So Alone Notes This is already a cuteness overload thread with the little girl XD Like One Red Balloon on a Sea of Blue "Ah, so you want a unicorn?" Carl raised his eyebrows and grinned at the five-year-old girl tugging on his shirt. "Are you sure you don't want a whale, or an elephant like your brothers?" He gestured to where, nearby, a couple of boys only a little older than her played with their rubber and air pachyderms. Both balloon animals had their trunks raised for good luck. "No. U-corn." Her big brown eyes begged him, pleading, adamant in her decision. The balloon vendor couldn't help but give in. "Okay." He grabbed another extra-long balloon from the stand and blew it up, then quickly and cleverly fashioned a tail and two back legs. He really wasn't being serious when he had asked her if she wanted something else; he actually took great pride in his balloon unicorns. He was kidding. Carl kneeled down next to her to do the rest, a body, the front legs, and finally a head- and the most important factor- a horn. She squealed with delight as he handed it to her, and hugged it to her chest. Her mother opened her purse, and pulled out some money just as Carl stood up. It was more than the cost of the balloons, and Carl went back to the cash box for change. "No, keep it." She said. "You made my children smile, and I love little Janice's balloonicorn." "Oh... Thanks." Carl reluctantly just put the whole thing in the box and closed it. "Have a nice day." He called after them as they walked away. Carl sighed. He loved to see them go, but at the same time, he hated to see them go. It got lonely here at the stand sometimes.
Making sure that the lock on the money box was secure, he took a deep breath and glanced up into the many colors of balloons that floated above his head. The sun shined through them all, casting colors on his face and torso. Balloonicorn... That was catchy.

Ellie walked along the main path of the village, her flats clicking in a one-two-one-two rhythm as she went forward. Her eyes turned this way and that, looking at the various vendors along the path. Ellie hadn't made too many friends in Wonderland, as she supposed it was just in her nature to not make too many friends. She wasn't exactly quiet, and that was her problem, she guessed. A lot of people had little patience for her wild and exuberant nature. Ellie could be blunt and straight-forward, but sometimes she got in a depressed mode. Today, unfortunately, she wasn't in a very good mood. She was feeling down about not having friends to do things with, and it was made worse by the fact that she had absolutely nothing to do that day. It made her think long and hard about why she couldn't make friends, and in turn made her feel bad about herself.
Still she walked, trying to keep her mind from wandering to darker thoughts, when suddenly she stopped. "Ooh - sorry," she mumbled as the person behind her ran into her. Ellie stepped to the side and crossed her hands in front of her, her eyes lingering on the balloon vendor who handed a little girl a unicorn balloon. Ellie grinned. He was so sweet to her - it was very charming. Ellie bit her lower lip. Maybe, just maybe, this man might be interested in having a conversation with her. If not, well...it would be a bit disappointing, surely, but she would deal.
As she walked toward him, her gaze never faltering, she felt a tug on her heart. There was something very familiar about him, but Ellie knew she'd never met him before, surely. Before her thoughts could gather, her mouth opened and she said, "That was so sweet!" She blushed and looked up at the balloons, smiling. "Um, so, do you think I could have a balloon?" she asked. Her eyes fixed on him once more and she felt her heart pitter-patter inside her chest. There was something about him that made her swoon and her heart swell with happiness. Sure he was definitely attractive, but there was more to it than that. She was sure he didn't feel the same, that she was just another customer to him, but Ellie knew she'd continue to think about this guy long after she left his balloon stand.
NOTES ; Eek they're just too cute. <3

[googlefont="Yellowtail"] Why Do I Feel So Alone Notes I feel that this is not as good a post as the last :c But yesss they are sooo cute <33 Like One Red Balloon on a Sea of Blue It was a nice day; no need to go stand in the shade. As long as you had some sunscreen slathered on, you were good to go until it wore off. People-watching was high on the agenda for Carl. Some passed the booth without as much as a glance, the ones that had never been customers, and some waved at him cheerily, the ones who had bought a balloon or two or fifty in their lifetime. No one stopped by today, but that was okay. If he demanded they purchase a balloon every time they passed the stand, he wouldn't have very many loyal customers. Suddenly he became aware of someone approaching him from nearby. Carl turned to face them, and was met with the sight of a young lady, looking to be around his age or perhaps a little younger, who had a really pretty set of hazel eyes and shock of red hair. She was smiling like there was no tomorrow, and he couldn't help but smile back. Her whole form exuded confidence and childlike innocence. For some reason, she seemed a bit familiar... but that was crazy, he had no memory of meeting her. Maybe she just reminded him of someone else. He really didn't know. "That was so sweet!" She quipped almost as soon as she was close enough to him to hold a conversation. The thought flashed through Carl's mind that ah, she had been watching for a few minutes then, and seen the making of the balloonicorn. He was partway through processing what to say back, when she did something he didn't expect at all: she blushed. That threw him for a loop and very off-guard. He never got a reaction like that-wether it was the joy of anticipating a balloon (which he knew she was going to ask for next) or a little bit of attraction, either way, it came as a total surprise. It took all he had not to lose his train of thought. Shyly rubbing the back of his head, he found himself glancing briefly down at the ground. He didn't notice at all that he, too, had turned a little pink in the cheeks. "Hey, uh, thanks."
It didn't take long for the expected next question. "Um, so, do you think I could have a balloon?" "Oh, yeah, sure, of course." Her hazel gaze strayed to the helium-filled rubber sacks drifting above his head, answering his first question about wether she wanted a floating one or a novelty one. Carl's knees threatened to become knobby, he was sweating bullets. Oh, he hoped he didn't show it. "What color?"
