When the Village found out about the Masquerade Ball, Mickey seemed quite excited. The Village hadn't had something big since the Summer Festival. Mickey had been so busy then with the Putt-Putt that he didn't get to really attend the festival all that much. However, he would be able to attend this one. However, since it was a Ball, he needed to find a date. He could only think of one person who he wanted to take, the person who he believed was his soul mate and best friend in the world. With a bit of nervousness, he asked Minnie and was delighted when she had accepted. From there, he anxiously counted down the days until the Ball. When the night of the Ball arrived, he chose to wear a handsome little costume, one a bit befitting of his personality. He was in a tux and tails with a top hat. His mask looked like that of a mouse. Prior to meeting Minnie, he wondered what she would be wearing. He knew she loved cats given how much she adored Figaro. A cat and mouse costume together would be amusing. He of course had found out what she had chosen by the time they stood outside the palace entrance. MINERVA TAYLOR WALTERS

the way it brings out the blue in your eyes is the tenerife sea tag: @mickey | outfit: CLICKThe land was abuzz with the news of the Masquerade Ball, but Minnie purposely held back from joining in the excitement. If this event was going to happen, all of her employees would want the night off and of course she'd give in to their requests. Someone had to stay back to run the business, especially since Mr. Rattshire made it clear that he was going to be sniffing around the Magic Kingdom for a while.
Yes, she wanted to go, but it wasn't her plan. It wasn't until her friend Daisy convinced her to just close for that one night, that Minnie realized there was no use in staying back. She'd have to talk to Mickey about it first, he was the owner as well, she couldn't close without his consent. Before she could talk to him about it, he asked her to be his date. From that day, Minnie had a smile permanently stuck on her face.
Daisy had appointed herself Minnie's stylist for this one night, primping the girl on how to act around her date. Minnie knew how to act around her own best friend, she didn't need Daisy for that. However, she nodded along politely. Daisy put the finishing touch on Minnie's hair; the bow Mickey had given her long ago. Once Daisy was done, Minnie was set free and on her way to meet Mickey. When she caught sight of him, she wondered if she played it too safe. Her dress was what one would expect her to wear, pink lace, long, and it covered her up nicely. Her mask covered her face enough to pass whatever dress code the Queen had set forth, but anyone could tell who she was.
"Wow, look at you." She stopped right in front of him, checking his costume in amazement. "I like your mask, you look very handsome."
Minnie hesitated for a moment for reaching out to intertwine her fingers in his. She was more than comfortable around him, she'd been since she met him, but sometimes she held back in fear of crossing a personal line with him. "Ready?"

Mickey beamed a thousand lights when he saw Minnie for the first time since donning her costume. He had always thought Minnie was beautiful, but now she was beyond stunning. Mickey felt his heart warm and butterflies begin to fly in his stomach. He almost felt like he couldn't tell her how he thought she looked without sounding completely silly. Finally he took a deep breath and gave it a shot. "Minnie, you look... you look absolutely wonderful," he said, relieved he could get that out and sound fairly decent in doing so. "And your mask is really cool as well. I like the design."Then Minnie reached out to take his hand. Mickey had hugged Minnie about a thousand times, and while the hugs always made his day, there was something about this holding of hands that meant more than all those hugs combined. Mickey gulped a little and it took him a moment to register that Minnie had asked him if he was ready. He found himself blushing heavily and hoped the mask hid that. He looked over at her and formed the best smile he could. "Yes, ready," he said. Then they walked in and Mickey looked at all the people dancing. He then gulped again and turned to Minnie. "Um... would you like to... would you care to...?"MINERVA TAYLOR WALTERS

the way it brings out the blue in your eyes is the tenerife sea tag: @mickey | outfit: CLICK"Dance?" she offered help by finishing his sentence. The corner of her lips pulled up slightly, showing him a smile. Minnie could feel how nervous he was and she wondered if he could feel her nerves as well. She decided to take charge by tugging at his hand, pulling him to the dance floor. There they joined a handful of couples engaged in their own worlds, some were twirling around laughing, others were whispering sweet nothings in to each others ears.
Minnie turned her attention back to her partner, letting his hand go but not before giving it a gentle squeeze. Her hands moved up to his shoulders, unsure if she was doing this right. This was the first time she was going to try dancing with someone else. Her only other experience was singing and dancing around in her room while Figaro chased after her.
The orchestra's tune changed, going from the festive music they'd been playing to a slow, sweet melody. Now this she could work with. There was no need to learn any fancy moves, she'd only have to let him lead her on the dance floor and pray that she didn't step on his toes. She didn't realize that she'd been holding her breath until she made eye contact with him. Minnie slowly exhaled then leaned forward, nestling her head on his shoulder.

Mickey gulped a bit when Minnie finished his sentence for him. He hoped that he didn't sound overly silly by not being able to ask her properly. When she didn't reply, he worried that she was having second thoughts about going to the dance with him. He soon found that there was nothing whatsoever to worry about. She smiled at him and pulled him to the dance floor. Mickey was now grinning the biggest and silliest grin he had ever grinned. Soon, they were in each others' arms and dancing. The grin turned into a regular, bright smile. He had never been happier in his life until this moment, and it was clear to him what was probably clear enough already... He loved Minnie Walters. He looked into her eyes a moment, taking in their beauty before she rested her head on his shoulder. He blushed a bit, but the butterflies were gone from his stomach. He felt calm now, at peace. He wished the dance would last forever. "Minnie," he whispered. "Thank you for coming to the dance with me. I want you to know something." He sighed a moment. He did want this to come out right. "You're very special to me. The most important person in my life. I just want you to know... I love you."MINERVA TAYLOR WALTERS

the way it brings out the blue in your eyes is the tenerife sea tag: @mickey | outfit: CLICKAll her worries seemed to vanish the moment her head made contact with his shoulder. She felt safe, happy, and she knew she was were she belonged. She could have stayed like that all night, even if there were no words spoken between them. Then she heard Mickey's soft whisper near her ear which made her turn her head up slightly, her blue eyes looked fixedly at the corner of his mouth as he continued.
She was ready to thank him for asking her to the Masquerade, but knew it'd be impolite if she didn't let him finish. As he went on, she started to realize something was different about the way he spoke. It had nothing to do with the words, he'd always let her know she was a special part of his life. It was the tone of his voice, almost as if he was going to share a big secret with her. But there were no secrets between them, right? She'd always been completely honest with him.
Then as he finished his sentence, she realized what was happening. It took her completely by surprise. She pulled back, her arms still on his shoulder, almost pulling him with her. Minnie stood there for a good moment, staring up in to his eyes. She'd heard him right, right?! But then, what exactly did he mean by that. She loved many people, they were great friends. However, her love for this man surpassed that tenfold. It was different, she'd known that for a long time now.
"William..." His first name was so foreign to her lips, she'd only referred to him by it once before. This seemed like an appropriate time to use it though. She felt the knot at the back of her throat, rendering her speechless. However, she needed to acknowledge his feelings somehow. Minnie supported herself on her tip toes, in order to get a good look at him. Even so, she was still significantly shorter than him. Her lips managed to peck his cheek, but it wasn't enough for her. She let her lips brush against his, the warmth radiating from his skin left her wanting more as she leaned back. "I'm sorry," was the first thing she managed to say as she slightly shook her head in embarrassment.
"I shouldn't have done that... no, what I meant to say is... I should have asked first. What I mean is," she stopped herself to let the situation sink in and to calm her heart. She drew a small breath then looked back at him. "I love you, too."

Mickey felt a wave of nervousness flood over him after he told Minnie that he loved her. He had no clue how she would react. Would the dance be over there and now? Would she walk away from him, shocked over the sudden announcement? If that were to occur, it would devastate him. To have the friendship they had already jeopardized would be too much to bare. Apart from loving her, he considered Minnie to be his best friend in the entire world. If that changed... Then, something odd happened. She called him by his first name. She had only done that once before. He wasn't sure how to react to it, but even if he did, he would let Minnie finish what she wanted to say. It turned out she said nothing. Instead, she kissed him, first on the cheek and then on the lips. Mickey's face turned bright red at this. He was far from upset though. Inside his heart a band began to play joyous music. When she apologized, he shook his head and smiled. "Don't apologize for not asking first..." he said. "Otherwise I'll have to apologize for this one." He then leaned in and kissed her again.
