Fulfill your duties, calmly and think before you act. This shall bring you honor and glory. Li could recite the Final Admonition since she was a child, her parents had prepared her well for the matchmaker. Their daughter came from a respectable family, it would only be fitting that she should marry in to another one of the same caliber. The moment the Matchmaker present her to Fa Zhou, she knew she had brought honor to her ancestors. He was tall, dark, handsome and polite; everything any young woman would want in a husband. She knew, in turn, she could fulfill her duties as his wife and be happy all at once. Eventually, as the couple adjusted to their marriage, there was a sense of new found love surrounding them. As the months went by, the young couple welcomed a child in to the world. The moment Li saw Mulan stare up at her with those beautiful eyes, it took Li's breath away. Never did she think that she would be capable of bringing something so precious in to the world.

Her good spirits faded soon as the war loomed over all of China. Her husband was called to the battlefield and Li had to deal with the reality that she could be left as a single mother and a widow. For months, she prayed to the ancestors to keep her husband from harm. Her firm believe in them solidified itself one early morning when news of victory rang through out the villages. Days later, when the soldiers all scattered back to their homes, Zhou showed up at their door. Li ran to him, after handing Mulan over to grandmother, and threw her arms around him. Her tears ran down her eyes and her hands clutched on to Zhou, unable to give him up once more. Peace settled back in to the land, but the war was all anyone would talk about for months to come. Zhou was branded a hero and, although he would have to live the rest of his life with his injuries, the Fa family moved on with life, knowing they had jumped over the biggest hurdle they would ever face.

Except that's not where it ended and the wasn't the most difficult thing the family would have to face. Mulan had been a spirited child since she drew breath, it was what Li loved most about her daughter. While Li was as traditional as she could be, her daughter looked to the future while keeping herself involved in the present. When the news of a new war broke out, Li felt the panic sinking in again. She looked to her husband, who had aged considerably since he had been in the battlefield last, and knew he was going to fight for his homeland once more. Some part of her accepted this, Zhou had always been a man of honor and nothing in the world would keep him from protecting China once more.

Before Zhou left to fulfill his duty to his country, Mulan ran to take her father's place. Although Li wanted to run after her and beg her to come back home, she knew her daughter would be executed if the truth was brought to light. They didn't hear from her for the longest time. Li couldn't eat or sleep, but she never gave up hope that her child would show her shinning smile at home once more. The day couldn't come soon enough, but when it did, Li was taken by surprise at how much Mulan had accomplished. The pride that swelled in her surpassed that of any other mother in China.

Once a devoted mother and wife, Li Su Yin finds herself without any family to call her own in Wonderland. Some part of the old Li unconsciously remained with her, she cannot see someone in need of care and simply turn the other cheek. This trait is what brought her to the Queen's palace, where she was quickly employed as a medical hand, despite not knowing much about it. She's hard working, despite her lack of expertise in her respective field, and she believes that even if she can't heal someone she can at least offer comfort. A smile goes a long way in her eyes, but she's quick to spot when it's insincere as well. She's polite, demure, and always ready to help when she's needed. Despite the strong beliefs drilled in to her head once upon a time, Li is learning that she's not defied by her pedigree and that a woman can choose the path she deems worthy for herself. Wonderland, unbeknown to her, offers her the freedoms she did not have in her past youth.
