Cogsworth was ever so sure that his mother would be ever so proud that she had put him through countless years of finishing school for him to end up as a clock. However, once he got through the first few years of being a semi-animate object, it almost became second hand nature. Not that he enjoyed his current set of circumstances. It was just easier now than it was before his first few months of denial and prayer to a deity he had only performed lip service to before. His colleague, Lumiere, had an optimism that annoyed him but it pushed him to continue on as though life was normal. Hard as that was considering that he was no longer human, Cogsworth trudged forward and accepted his duty. Adam never truly accepted his beastly transformation and quite honestly, Cogsworth could not blame him. While he did not like being part of the furniture, he would rather be a clock than an animal. What Cogsworth could not stand was the months of sheer boredom that would rattle his skull. He missed his job, he missed his family, he missed just being around other people. Days would be spent wondering if he could jump off the balcony and die or would he just be a broken wreck with no end. The only thing that kept him from testing the theory was this shred of hope that maybe Adam would find his true love. Being a romantic himself, Cogsworth thought that would be enough to get him through the years. And if not, if that last rose petal fell, then maybe he would see what would happen once you throw a clock off a cliff. [break][break]
But fortunately Belle did come. It was such a gift from Fate. Cogsworth was jaded at first, but slowly came around for this young woman being the one to break the spell. While the man turned timepiece was suspicious of most people around him, Adam was far more hopeless. It took work, work that Cogsworth was far more happy to do in order to break the spell, but Adam and Belle became amicable. And that turned into love. Watching that unfold was one of the most precious things in the world. For once, Cogsworth allowed his mind to wonder past the balcony. There was hope. And it all came to fruition when Belle gave Adam her love at the very last second. For the first time in a decade, he could feel soft skin around his form. He moved the way he was supposed to. Everything was back to the way it should be. There could no longer be any misfortune. Everything could go back to being normal and predictable. True love is supposed to solve everything wasn’t it? Dominique was good with numbers, the inner workings of a business and schmoozing. That landed him as a partner and accountant at the local gentleman’s club “The Pussy Cat” in Wonderland. Working with an eccentric ladies man who seemed friendly (albeit pushy) was decent enough. Dominique did the “boring stuff” as his colleague put it and he was happy in his position. He told himself each day that he was just binding his time until he could get his way into the castle and into politics. It was something that he felt like he would enjoy. And it would rid himself of the seedy aspect of his life. Sometimes, when his eyes blurred under the strain of his work and he needed the break, he thought about what his life was before and how he wished that he could remember. [break][break]
