The soft leaf... the bitter odor. Yup, this was definitely and nine quarters Lamb's Ear, good for mixing with silty mud to make skin rash-treating poultices. Liam took a little and put it in his pouch, checked it off on the list, and then moved on, scanning the ground for herbs, flowers, anything that he could use and take back to the palace for scientific study. Some of the plants that could be found here in the Wood were not part of the Royal Science Society's collection; another reason why they considered Liam so important to their staff.
Oddly enough, he was dressed in a bright athletic suit. Liam had actually set out to collect specimens and get his daily jog in, but he found himself straying farther and farther off the path and walking more and more between patches of plants, searching them for described and/or named plants he carried on a paper list. Oh well. Everyone knew that his multitasking skills were close to nothing. He got too absorbed in his work.
Suddenly there was a rustling behind him, from a patch of bushes. It caught the doctor-in-training completely off guard. Liam spun on a heel, putting his dukes up, ready to deal with whatever--or whoever--came his way. The list crunched up a bit in his fist, forgotten for the moment.
Waiting. Rustling. "Show yourself." He said, cautiously. More rustling. It was definitely human, not animal, as it had an irregular pattern and would move from time to time. Animals stayed still for as long as they could.
