| Buchanan's little apartment in the village was always clean since he was rarely there. His bed was forever made because he always fell asleep on the first surface he saw when he came home late at night. Typically it was the couch, occasionally it was the chair and once it was the kitchen table, but we don't speak of that.
He woke up in a pool of drool but of course it didn't register to him until he separated his cheek from the pillow. In disgust he wiped his cheek off with the sleeve of his shirt as he sat up. What time was it? He opened his eyes and blinked away the fuzziness until the clock's time became recognizable. He was going to be late. Bucky blinked a couple more times as the time settled in. "Oh crap!"
Bucky jumped up from the couch and ran to the bathroom, flinging his button up shirt off of himself. He quickly jumped into the shower, already deciding that today was not the day for a singing concert in the shower. Bucky quickly got himself ready for work and headed out the door, still putting his socks on. He spent most of his morning commute without one sock on and spent the rest with his shoes barely on but it was all worth it when he arrived to the restaurant with a few minutes to spare.
He believed that he should always be on time. The young man fixed his shoes before entering the kitchen, "Well rested and ready to cook, sir!" he called out before grabbing his apron.

Neil was more than used to the hours and pattern of running his pride and joy, the Eats Hut. After a few months (and, he felt, a lot longer than that, as his memory blank made it really hard to remember). The elder chef had this cycle of being at the place until close and then going home, getting ready for bed as fast as he could, and then hitting the pillow for seven hours (usually 11-6) before getting up again and showing up to work a half an hour before opening--7. That gave Kronk time to clean whatever needed it and start the day's preparations. 7, coincidentally, was also when the employees' shifts started. However, some of them showed up early, and Bucky was one of those. Kronk always kept an eye and ear out for the arrival of his young friend. He would understand perfectly if the kid was on time or a tad late, after all Bucky often ran to closing like Kronk did, but he never allowed himself that extra time. Today, like normal, Bucky scrambled into the kitchen like eggs. "Well rested and ready to cook, sir!" However, Neil grinned. This day was going to be anything but normal. This was it... the day. He had decided so as he lay in bed the night before. It was time to get serious with Bucky. If he was going to run the Eats Hut someday, Kronk couldn't keep putting this off. The kid needed to start being more of a chef, without the pastry formally affixed to his title. He needed to learn the secret. Da-dummm. Neil couldn't help but rub his hands together. "Good." | Bucky tied the apron around him as he looked out of the ordering station into the restaurant. The mornings were always packed and it seemed like today was no exception. He happily looked back at his boss who seemed even happier than him. Neil was a positive man and such an amazing cook but the twinkle in his eye and how he rubbed his hands together made Bucky a bit uneasy.
"Because today I am going to teach you how to make spinach puffs."
The young man's eyes widened in response. Neil's most famous dish was the spinach puffs. The first time Bucky had ever had them his mouth was in heaven. "A-are you sure?" Bucky was confident in his cooking abilities but he would feel awful if he ruined the recipe. "I don't want to ruin them.." The boy felt honored to even being working with such a great cook and now he was willing to teach him menu items that weren't desserts. He was up for the challenge but he didn't want to let Neil down.
