Shandor Kingsley was not a cruel man, but he was also not one for visitors. He lived in a manor house in the woods, along with several jungle cats. While they were loyal to him, they were about as friendly as he was to guests. If someone was a threat to him, they could very well find themselves at the cats' mercy. All this was because Shandor preferred the company of cats, and really wild creatures in general. He wasn't sure exactly why, but he loved felines as much as he loathed most human beings.
Shandor walked about his grounds, enjoying the fresh air. He carried a long cane with a silver tiger head atop it. Beside him walked his panther, Kipling, a favorite among his furry companions. Kipling was hunting about as usual. Though Shandor provided him with fresh meat purchased in the village, the beast did love a fresh kill. Shandor hardly condemned him for it. Kipling was a predator and it was nature's law, the purest form of law there was.
The two were walking about when Kipling stopped and growled. Shandor knew right away that he wasn't sensing small prey. There was a person nearby. Shandor stopped and looked around, with Kipling ready to attack on his master's command.
"Whoever you are... I warn you," said Shandor. "You visit had better peaceful... and brief one. Kipling here is anxious for... fresh meat after all."

(Love the name of the thread so much that I had to put my cat in it XD)
Keith loved the woods, he loved them more than working in his own shop. It felt like his home and he wanted to be there more than anything but he was a human not an animal, so he had to make his home in the Village with his Joke shop. He always made time to venture into the woods at least three or more times a week. So today was about his fourth visit of the week and he was picking up where he left off the last time he explored. Something in the woods was "calling" to him and he wanted to know what it was. So he roamed the woods looking for something familiar, something that he knew he had forgotten. Keith found his normal spot in a tree and pulled out one of his many books that he had somewhat collected.
Today, however, the man was not alone, as he could hear a growling feline. Looking over he saw a man and a Large Cat. With a bright white smile he looked down at the man and watched with delight. "Trust me, I don't taste that good." the man spoke looking at the cat. He then turned his attention back to the man. "I don't think I have seen you in these parts of the woods before. I am Keith." He jumped down from the tree landing in front of the man, he then offered him a hand.

Shandor eyed the intruder coldly. However, he had no particular reason to have Kipling attack the man... yet. The man could have made his way on his property to attack him, though if that was the case, he was a fool. The place was full of cats like Kipling. It could be he was there out of curiosity. That was almost as foolish a reason, but that one might not get him killed. Petting Kipling to calm him, he approached the man slowly.
"Perhaps you haven't seen me because I prefer to stay on my personal property... WHICH YOU ARE NOW TRESPASSING ON!" he growled. "I will give you a single opportunity to explain... your presence here. After that, I will decide if you are... welcomed here or not." The man had introduced himself though. Perhaps it wouldn't be entirely harmful to introduce himself as well. "I am Shandor Kingsley... and not one who accepts many visitors."
If he had watched Kipling, he would have noticed a look of curiosity coming over the panther. Kipling would still defend his master upon orders, but at the same time he found something interesting about this man. He sense... a bit of feline in him in the same way he did Shandor. For now, he watched to see how Keith would act. If he was a bit feline, was he a friendly one... or one not to be trusted. Things would be interesting either way.

Keith looked at the man, he didn't know about him. Who could own the woods? Why would you want to own woods? Retracting his hand, he ran that hand though his hair and laughed. "Well, you see I was sitting in my shop all cozy and bored when I thought to myself 'what a nice day to rummage though the empty home of some strange cat.' you see a couple days ago I found a place it was nice and warm and well I quite fancy it. That my new friend is where I am going, have been, and plan on going more." Keith looked down at the cat and smiled.
Lightly he reached into his pocket and pulled out a treat for the cat. "I found this while I was in the place. It's a feline treat." offering it to the creature he smiled. Looking back up at the man, Keith didn't want to cause trouble after all, this visit was nothing but a peaceful one. "I will respect your space this time, but next time don't expect me to just willingly give away my freedom. Unless you have a cute friend with you then I might." He smiled his big cheese grin.
The truth is if the man let Keith go the man would not leave the woods but simply go to another area.

Shandor didn't own the entire woods of course. He did own property on it though, and that was where this man was standing. He listened as the man went on about what he was doing there. So the man was just there to rummage through some strange cat's home. Shandor didn't care for his sense of humor, and continued to stare at him coldly. However, Shandor would still give him the benefit. He did raise an eyebrow as the man smiled at Kipling, and then as Kipling seemed to be calmed by him.
"Well, I am not... strange," he said. "Nor is my home... empty. However, thus far you don't seem to be of any... threat to me, so I suppose I can have you depart from here... unscathed." When he saw Keith about to feed something to Kipling. Shandor quickly cut him off with his cane. "Kipling is fed a... special diet. I suggest he not stray from that diet with some... treat from the village."
Shandor then drew close to Keith and his brow lowered.
"My space... is lawfully owned property," he said. "You will respect it now... and in the future. Otherwise, I have the right to decide if you will answer to Kipling and myself... or perhaps the Queen. Now I've given you the right to depart with the ability to... walk on your own. I suggest you take it."

music | Keith - others Keith looked at the man, he was strange. He might have said he was not, but then again, he knew what people could be like when others were in their territory, he was more cat like though which was weird. Could be a reason why he felt like he needed to show off. "Diet, right, cats on diets. Makes senese actually. Hair Balls really hard to get out of the furniture." the man laughed a bit, but when the man grew closer to him and he stopped laughing......could this guy be scary or what, now would be a good time to just poof but hey who can do that? The man brought up the queen, and boy did he think seeing her would be fun. She seemed like a lovely lady and well he was okay seeing her more. "Don't threaten me with the Queen. I don't fear her. I don't fear anyone." He then turned from the man walked away towards the outskirts of his part of the forest. His body movement showing a present of uncaring towards Shandor. |

Shandor sighed at Keith when he responded to the issue of the cats' diet. At least he was going to respect it and not try to feed them further. He could have found his hand bit off them. Even Shandor didn't hand feed his pets. He placed the food in pans as one would do for a common household dog or cat. And as far as he had known, he had never worried about hairballs.
The boy then walked away and Shandor was about to gladly let him. However, he then made a remark that peeked Shandor's interest. So he had a lack of fear. And apparently not only was he willing to defy Shandor, but the Queen as well. Shandor couldn't deny it. He admired such bravery, even if it was a tad foolish. He moved toward the young man.
"To mock a man... on his own property," he said. "To say you do not... fear the Queen. Strong words to utter. I should wonder if you would say such things in the face of the... Queen herself. I am admittedly... curious. Why do you not... fear... or at least claim not to."

music | Keith - others Keith was entertained with this man, he was enjoying the conversation and the man's seeming need to scare him, or at least that is what Keith was getting from the whole ordeal. Who was Keith to deny the man the answers he wanted from him. So Keith stopped moving and turned back to the man. He then gave his devilish smile. "Well the answer is quite simple." Here he went, about to explain something he himself did not understand. He didn't know why he wasn't scared of the man or the queen. Everyone seemed to be somewhat scared of the woman. Keith however, just wasn't. "It all started the day I woke up, I felt like I was doing my every day routine, Went to get some tea from my friend who never gives me anything so I end up going home to make some." Keith then paused from his story. "I really only go to the tea room to see March, good friend of mine, love the conversation." He laughed a little and decided to bounce back to his story. "The queen came out that day and I had a conversation for her, she just dosn't scare me." Keith felt that this was because he was just to quick for anyone to capture when it really had to deal with the past life of the Cheshire Cat. |

Shandor listened to the man's strange story. Part of it involved that idiot Marvin March from the tea room. Shandor went to visit that place once to purchase a box of tea packets to take home. March would not shut up about... well whatever he was going on about. And worse, as Keith stated Shandor never actually got what he came in for. Needless to say, Shandor never returned to the place to buy tea. Fortunately there was a decent brand sold in the village markets. Then came Keith's explanation about why he didn't fear the Queen. A mere conversation with her? He must have pleased or impressed her, and judging from what he had heard about the Queen, she wasn't easy to impress.
"I assume by the fact that you are standing here and... not in prison that all... went well?" he asked. He wondered just how well the conversation went. Did Keith and the Queen befriend one another? Was Keith seen as someone of value to the Queen? Oddly enough, Shandor wasn't surprised by this. The guy seemed like he could talk a good game and built himself up for another, even one of royalty. Shandor suddenly found himself wanting to hear more of this incident.
