You were born as one of thirteen in the litter — the smallest, the roundest and the one who always had a twinkle in your eyes. You weren’t born in a house, but in a small alley in the center of San Fransokyo. The animal shelter took you in, but you were sick and weak and abandoned. They weren’t sure that you were going to make it through the night.[break][break]
Aunt Cass wanted to get the boys something — something that would make Tadashi and Hiro feel better about everything that was going on in their life, especially after she took custody of them — and that meant a pet. They visited the animal shelter the very day after you were taken in.[break][break]
Hiro wandered off and saw someone feeding you: the littlest, weakest kitten in the kennel — the one that was to be put up for euthanization the very next day. Aunt Cass wasn’t entirely convinced about you, but the way Hiro’s eyes lit up when he picked you up for the first time.[break][break]
“Are you sure you don’t want this one…? Or maybe this one…?” Aunt Cass had said. But Hiro was dead set on you — you the small round ball of fur that purred every time someone touched your back.[break][break]
“Ms. Hamada, this cat is going to be put down tomorrow…we’re afraid you can’t let your family take him home.” [break][break]
But it wasn’t like the Hamada family to take no for an answer — especially after everything they had been through. Cass demanded you were adopted into the family, and that was how you found your new home. There are few things in the world that you love more than your family.[break][break]
Once the smallest and the littlest of all the kittens, you grew to be a rounded, fat, happy cat in the arms of the Hamadas. You were shy at first, often hiding under the couch or fridge or whatever else you could find to keep yourself away from people.[break][break]
Eventually, you came around — you became sociable and kind…and rather fat. [break][break]
You were mostly an indoor cat. They often chalked it up to the fact that you had spent the first part of your life trying to stay alive in the world out there, but every so often, Tadashi and Hiro would take you out on a cat leash. You hated it — it made you feel foolish, but just the same, it made them happy so you would strut your stuff down the street just to get them to laugh.[break][break]
You often gravitated toward Tadashi, but that had nothing to do with liking either brother better. In fact, you loved them both equally. Tadashi’s stomach was just more comfortable to sleep on.[break][break]
After the night at the showcase, you stayed by Hiro’s side the whole time. You didn’t understand what was happening, why he was so upset…but you knew Tadashi was missing. He didn’t come home after that and you grew sad. You would curl on Hiro’s lap and lick the salty tears that fell from his eyes.[break][break]
You were always there for the Hamadas and they were always there for you — in a way, you saved each other and for that you were eternally grateful.[break][break]
[break][break]
But now you’re something different entirely. [break][break]
A human. Sweet and gentle, you crave the attention of most people around you. You love being around people, but a happy childhood? I wouldn’t bet on it. Cassandra — your best friend — took you in in this life as well and you became a sort of adopted sister. You have a tendency to curl up and fall asleep around everyone when you’re even the slightest bit exhausted — honestly, you sleep a lot more than most people.[break][break]
