tag; @sophie | Atwell had met a child months ago and felt a strange familiar fondness towards her. In time he stayed close to her, watching over and protecting her. When he found out the tender young child had no family of her own it broke his heart.
After signing some papers and fixing the small room in his apartment for a bed, Atwell welcomed the girl into his home and into his heart.
The man underestimated taking care of a child on his own. Although she was sweet, she was a handful. He couldn't wrap his mind around the idea of something so small having so much energy. Yet here she was, telling him about her day at the ice cream parlor.
"A'right sheila, what flavor ya havin'?" He managed to slip his words in before her next sentence. Atwell's eyes glanced over at her as he scanned the aray of ice cream behind the counter. He paused a moment and narrowed his eyes at one of the name tags for the ice cream.
"What in the world is birthday flavored?" Atwell swung his head to the right and looked at Sophie with a grin. "Reckon I'll try it?"

hop, hop, hop. Over the past month, life for Sophie was amazing. Once upon a time she had been orphaned, living in a small orphanage in the village. Of course she went to school daily and had taken a liking to the subject of art. Art was her escape from the world, an escape from the loneliness of not having parents to care for her. sure Miss Perry was amazing, and she was rather nice. Sophie desired an adventure, a family to call her own, and a home where she didn’t have to share her little toys with anyone. That was until a month ago, she had returned home to the orphanage, a man was there. She had instantly clicked with him and the papers were signed. She was adopted by a man, a nice and sweet one at that. Even though she was fourteen in age, she still had the energy of a younger child.
So standing in the ice cream parlor, the familiar sound of her adoptive father’s accented voice filled her ears. Her eyes scanned the assortments of different flavors; none so far looked appealing that was until Atwell pointed out a flavor. Birthday flavored? Her eyes quickly flickered over to the delicious desert, and of course it looked rather appealing.
‘Reckon I’ll try it?’
Sophie nodded her head, a few strands of blonde hair slipping from her bun. Her hair was rather short, but it was enough to get up in a bun on her forehead, to hide the mess of it. she had cut it herself, back in the orphanage and had ruined it, but it was slowly growing back to looking normal, and with the help of Atwell he had gotten it cut so that it would grow to be the same length. It was just extremely short. “I say we both try it.” she said with a smile, her eyes staring at Atwell lovingly. As only a child would look at their parent.

tag; @sophie | There were few things in this world that truly made the rough and tumble man happy and beside him stood the biggest reason of them all. Atwell would never forget the look upon the small girl's face when he walked her from school to their new home on the outskirts of the village. It was a light blue home where she could have a large room all to herself. Although she was not encouraged to cut her hair herself anytime soon, Atwell encouraged any of her other interests and tried to be open minded.
To be honest, he was proud of her (if the many pictures hanging in their home wasn't proof enough).
Not one day passed that he ever regretted the decision to adopt the blond girl that now stood beside him at the counter of the ice cream parlor. He allowed a chuckle to escape his lips as the girl looked up at him with such affection. Atwell crinkled his nose with a smile, "Yea," he stretched out the word and hunched down a little closer to her for a moment. Birthday cake flavored sounds quite nice to them both.
"Do we want a normal borin' cone or these?" He gestured to the dark brown waffle cone in the display of cones they had above the counter. "A waffle cone? Doesn't look a thing like a waffle.." Atwell leaned towards Sophie and whispered to her, "Where'n the world do they get these names from?"

hop, hop, hop. Sophie was smart. Extremely smart. She was also very talented, many of her artwork was littered around her room, the house and even school. She was the top of her class, beating everyone for their money. She had awards and even a fair few trophy’s to show her brilliance and talent. But she never bragged. While others around her school bragged to their friends about their accomplishments, Sophie never did. If someone congratulated she would smile and say thank you. Sure she went home and told Atwell everything, secrets she had been told, and awards she had been given. But she was a lively bubbly girl. She wasn’t mean or rude or known to brag. And that was what made her special. She wasn’t like anyone else. She was her own person, her own persona.
‘Yea. Do we want a normal borin’ cone or these? A waffle cone? Doesn’t look a think like a waffle… Where’n the world do they get these names from?'
Sophie laughed “It’s called a waffle cone because the design of the cone looks like the same design of a waffle, see?” she questioned pointing to the waffle cone. “I want a waffle cone…normal boring cones are just…well boring.” she said with a small child-like smile upon her face.

Atwell grinned at the girl beside him as she explained to him why they were called waffle cones. The man enjoyed learning a thing or two from her and boy could learn quiet a lot. On the other hand, he always enjoyed testing her as well but that was simply because she always passed with flying colors. The man enjoyed watching Sophie succeed and there was no doubt in his mind that she could do whatever she put her mind too.
"Well that would make sense wouldn't it.." His voice lowered to a soft mumble as if he was speaking to himself. Atwell turned to Sophie once more, "Why doncha find a seat." He said through his grin.
"Smart as a whip, that one." Atwell spoke proudly to the worker behind the counter. "How 'bout ya get us 2 waffle cones with 2 scoops of Birthday Flavored ice cream."

easter bunny, hop, hop, hop! Sophie was glad that she was able to bring her intelligence to the table; she loved seeing Atwell smile at her, his grin reaching his eyes. She loved the feeling of making some proud, even if she was orphaned at a young age, with Atwell…it was like her past was never there, that she had always been with Atwell, and for that she thanked whoever brought the two together every day. Someone had drawn Atwell to adopt her, and if she could figure out who she would thank them with all her heart. ‘Why doncha find a seat.’Sophie smiled “Alright.” she said as she slowly moved away from the counter and scuffled over to one of the seats, slowly sinking herself down at the table as she waited for Atwell and the ice cream. Hopefully the Birthday Flavor would be a good taste, though she didn’t think why it wouldn’t be. She twitted her fingers, before quickly taking out her notebook filled with drawings and flipped it open, pulling the pencil out of it and began working on a setting, Easter eggs littered everywhere. It was brightly colored, at least in her mind it was, right now it was just black and white, some of it not even finished. But as soon as she was done, it would be beautiful.
