Madame Gothel, or Mother Gothel, is known to be a manipulative and selfish old woman. She has a cold front were she shows her evilest of colors. She is known to be uncaring, overprotective, abusive, arrogant, obsessive, and very short-tempered. But above that all she knows how to be elegant, and she is very caring, in her own sick way. She is conniving, mad, cunning, and merciless and is known to be nonchalant. She is greedy, her greed is only for youth and beautiful, she is very vain. She is willing to do whatever it takes to get what she wants, immortality as you will. She is also very secretive, having kept the secret of her own identity and Rapunzel’s true identity for eighteen years. Though she seems quite fond of the young princesses, she is anything but. She is rather passive and when easily angered she goes into a murderous state. Gothel takes “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” to a new level. But you see, before Gothel grew old the first time and became this way, she was a rather sweet young woman, spoiled but kind and caring. She was evening a lovely and fair young woman, protective of those she loved. But like everyone, time changed her, evil attached itself to her. Now with the curse, she is back to the nice young woman, but she is still a villian. Hit the wrong button and you will get the evil woman within.

History:

[break]
Madame Gothel, or Mother Gothel, was born to a beautiful and loving couple in a small village in the early Renaissance period. Her parents loved her truly, but they were poor and could not offer much for the young girl. Of course at the time she didn’t mind, the love that they gave her was enough. But when she turned eighteen, her parents were ripped from within her grasp and she was left alone. Because she was old enough to fend for herself, but that didn’t matter. Her beauty caught the attention of a young man, a man that was rich beyond belief and the two were wed. But you see, Gothel was barren, she could not produce children of her own. But that didn’t stop her husband from loving her all the same. But as the two grew older, they grew apart. She slowly began to age and age and soon her husband died and she found herself near the end of her life, but she wasn’t ready yet.

She found herself within a forest, her feet taking her up a mountain. She wanted to see the sea one last time, but while there she begged the Heavens, begged any god that would hear her to make her young and beautiful again, to give her immortality and that was when she saw it. It was a glowing and it was beautiful. Gothel quickly went over to where the drop of sunshine had fallen and there was a beautiful golden flower, she felt its petals and began to hum. Why did she hum? She didn’t know. But as she hummed she began to sing to the flower. And it started glowing.

‘Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine. Make the clock reverse; bring back what once was mine.’

The song came from her, came from her pain and greed. And it worked; slowly she felt a change within her. A change like no other. She watched as her hands began to change, going from a wrinkle mess to a beautiful unblemished pale skin. She was once again her beautiful and young self. For the next five hundred years, Gothel remained young and beautiful, wooing any male that would give her the time of day. Of course when she began to grow old she would go back to her flower and sing. Every few centuries a new flower would bloom when the other one withered away, but she was able to survive. She watched as down from the mountain, a kingdom prospered nearby, a queen grew ill while pregnant and then the kingdom went searching for the flower. Gothel of course had heard them nearby and fled, the guard found the flower and Gothel couldn’t stop him.

She followed them back to the kingdom and watched as her flower was fed to the queen, watched as a beautiful baby was born with golden hair. And that night, she began singing to the girl, the hair the new flower for her, and she cut it. As her hand slowly turned youthful, that one snip of hair turned brunette and it shriveled up again. She knew what she had to do, so she kidnapped the princess. Of course the king and queen came in and quickly she disappeared. Gothel isolated herself in a tower hidden in a forest far away from the rest of the world, where she raised Rapunzel as her own daughter. She was so protective of her new flower that she refused to let Rapunzel go outside, lying and telling the girl that the world was a dangerous place, that people would try to hurt them and steal Rapunzel for her gift. Though from their tower, whenever Rapunzel aged, floating lights floated in the air and Rapunzel of course grew curious of them, this made Gothel even more protective of the young girl.

As time grows on, Gothel raises the young princess for eighteen years, using her hair for youth and beauty. She is still just as manipulative and “overprotective” as ever. She constantly uses subtle jabs, over-the-top guilt trips and forbids Rapunzel from leaving the tower, stating that all mothers know best. Gothel, feeling as though she had won this battle leaves the tower once more, but once she returns Rapunzel tries to talk her mother into letting her leave, but Gothel snaps. Her daughter rejected, changes the subject to focus on her birthday, and asks Gothel for paint for her room made from white seashells, which of requires a three-day journey. Gothel, confident that Rapunzel is safe, she agrees.

During her travels she comes across Maximus, who is now without a rider. Realizing that means that his rider is in the forest and could possible discover Rapunzel, she hurries home. She calls to her daughter…but nothing happens. Desperate, she reopens the previously sealed entrance to the tower; there she is terrified to find no one there. But she does discover something else, Flynn’s satchel with the stolen tiara and a wanted poster, she then believes that her flower had been kidnapped and leaves to find her with her dagger.

She comes across the Snuggly Duckling tavern and finds her flower happily singing about how she left her tower, it is there that she watched her flower and a man escaping through a hidden tunnel when the royal guards arrived. She of course uses her beauty and flirt with Shorty the Pub Thug before threating him to find where it leads, of course he is drunk and tells her the way. She follows his instructions where she comes across the Stabbington Brothers. She uses this to her advantage, giving them the crown but tells them she can offer them an even greater treasure, along with revenge on Flynn. It is that night she finds Rapunzel and talks to her, trying to get her to return to the tower. But Rapunzel refuses, and Gothel insist that Rapunzel is being naïve and the only reason why Flynn is with her is to get the crown, which she thrusts into her flower’s hands before telling him to give it to him and test his loyalty before disappearing. Gothel’s plan is put into action while Flynn and Rapunzel are watching the lanterns the next evening. But before she can get her flower back, she is hit by darkness, darkness so powerful that she is lost within it.

The curse had striked and left Gothel in a new form, beautiful but foreign, though it isn’t foreign to her. Now she goes by Amara Gothel, a young barmaid in a Tavern in Wonderland. She has reverted back to her old self, the kind woman before finding the flower, but she is known to show some of her old wicked ways when hit the wrong way.
