Personality- At first Dimitri was greedy, only interested in money. He had no regard for anyone else’s feelings. He also could care less for a place to call home as well, which Anya finds strange. He is very sarcastic, cunning, sly and can be fairly arrogant. Dimitri can also be manipulative and charismatic knowing how to talk people into things and sort of control them coercively. Underneath all that though, Dimitri is a kind and considerate, and understanding. He began to stop caring about the money and longed for Anya’s affection and happiness. He matured by the end of the movie into a gentleman who only wanted the love of his life to be happy.

History- Dimitri was a servant boy in the palace. He knew exactly who the royal family was and thought that the youngest daughter Anastasia was a brat. He saw her at a ball, being where he wasn’t supposed to be and was then brought back to the kitchens. [break][break]
When the revolution came, Dimitri helped Anastasia and the Empress escape and she dropped the music box. Dimitri was knocked out by one of the soldiers and left there.

Years later at the age of twenty six, Dimitri became a con man and grew up as a kid on the streets. He was found by his dear friend Vlad who helped take care of him and was like a father and mentor to the young lad. Dimitri’s goal was to find some girl to take the part of Anastasia and bring her to the Dowager Empress to con the woman out of millions.

What Dimitri found though was the real Anastasia, though she didn’t know she was the real Anastasia and neither did he. She agreed to go to Paris and along the way they faced a derailment of a train, teaching her how to act like royalty with the help of Vlad, Anya almost walking off the end of a boat and then the trip to the house.

Anya said everything she was supposed to, to Sophie. He was caught off guard however. Dimitri never told her how Anastasia escaped but Anya had told her that there was a hole in the wall and a boy and Dimitri then new that she was the Princess Anastasia. That was when his fear started sinking in. Dimitri believed he was going to lose her.

After a night of shopping in Paris, they went to the Russian ballet where Anya was Dimitri’s date. Halfway through the show, he went to talk to the Empress where she outed him as a con man. Anya over heard it and called him a liar and slapped him across the face. Dimitri hijacked the Empress’s car later that night and brought her to Anya. He made her half believe him by showing her the music box.
[break][break]
Dimitri left them alone, glad that they found each other. He was summoned to claim the reward but refused. He told her what he wanted she couldn’t give him. Dimtiri was about to take the train to Russia but then decided to go back for Anya. When he did, she was being attacked by Rasputin. Dimitri stepped in and tried to help but was knocked out. Once he came to, Anya hit him in the nose. The two reconciled and in the end, they eloped and went back to Russia.
[break][break]
After the curse, Dimitri was raised by Vlad. There were no records of his parents so he was an orphan. Vlad took him in and the two still became conmen. There were just some things that couldn’t change even with a curse in action. Dimitri uses his good looks and charisma skills to talk people into things and can be highly manipulative.
