At the age of seventy-five, Fauna Newthatch knew she did not have a lot of time left in this world. However, she certainly wasn't going to be depressed about it. She was going to make the most of it, and part of that was making life as wonderful as it could be for others. Because of that, she wore many hats. She worked for various humanitarian organizations, as well as involved herself in charities. She organized little things as well, such as bake sales and community dinners.
Today she was what she was five days a week in the morning and afternoon, and that was a music teacher. She particularly loved working with the children. Their joy and eagerness to learn music made her feel young again. She also loved speaking with them before and after class. The students seemed to trust her on some pretty touchy subjects, and she tried to help as best as she could. Sometimes one needed help that bakes sales could not accomplish after all.
Between classes, she was helping a young boy find his voice. She played a tune on her piano and smiled as he seemed to be getting the hang of it.
"Well I think we found out what the problem was, good sir," she said with a chuckle as she ceased her play. "You're were trying to sing Tenor when you are clearly a gifted Baritone. Let's try the song again one last time. A-one and a-two and a..." She played as the boy sang again. When the song was offer, she clapped and took his hands. "Bravo, Harold. I think you have it. Now keep practicing and I'll see you soon." Fauna waved as he left the room and then made her way over to pour some tea.
