THOUGHT MYSELF TO DEATH | here we goooo! haha hope my starter is okay! stop her, okay? don't let her die >.> |
It was an unusual day for Violet, being separated from her best friend. Ever since she had met Ariel Morgan, she attached herself to the girl. The redhead that was Ariel held so much confidence in herself and had an outgoing nature that Violet wished she possessed. The only time she consisted of such a state of personality was when she was around those she felt most comfortable around. She had a small group of friends that saw this side of her, but they were definitely the only few. Still, it was rare to see. Violet was reserved and held an awkwardness about her. Her self esteem was barely in tact, despite the fact she was a beautiful young woman with a personality some would prefer. The raven-haired girl just couldn't get herself to believe high things about herself.
So, without her friend, she wandered about with nothing to do. Vi was currently unemployed, seeing as she had no clue what she would even be good at, if anything. Therefore, she had no where she was expected to be. She kicked at the ground beneath her and continued on her walk, her eyes downcast. Her attention was hardly on the path ahead or where she was going. She just, went.
It was when she found herself in front of a peculiar door that she realized she had no idea where she was. However, Violet was aware of the door that was positioned only feet from where she stood. It was only a few months ago that someone had died because of it, right? Her feet carried her forward until she was standing directly in front of it. All she had to do was reach forward to turn the knob. Her eyebrows furrowed in curiosity, wondering exactly what was behind it. But that was what happened to the other person. They got curious. Still, she couldn't help but reach forward, her hand slightly shaking. She wanted to know what was behind that door and if it was a way out.

Buddy had finally wiggled himself free of Tania’s grasp. The girl seemed attached to him as of late and while that was all well and good, there was a bit too much. He had gotten rid of her with a well placed “Oh Tania, what’s that over there?” before sprinting away the moment her eyes were off him. He needed to get back to work. He had not been by the door in days. He wondered if another “drink me” bottle would be propped up against the door as Tania told him. He was no chemist, but surely organic compounds weren’t a far stretch from machinery.
But as he approached the area where the door stood, he realized that he was not alone. His eyes narrowed, expecting that Tania had somehow beat him to the door. But upon further inspection, he saw that it was a smaller woman with long black hair, not Tania. What was she doing there, gawking at the door?
Oh don’t tell me that this is going to be a damn tourist attraction. I’ll never get any work done now.
He took a step forward with the intent to yell at her and shoo her away but then he saw her hand go towards the knob of the door. His heart jumped in his chest, realizing that if she would touch the door than she would most likely explode into a million pieces. While the observation was not something he would normally pass up (if he saw exactly what happened that would value his research a hundred fold), he felt something…maybe a good deed wanting to spring out of him. There was a sudden urge. He wanted to save her. He wanted to be a hero.
It was as though his body was being controlled by something else as he promptly ran towards her, grabbing her and pulling her away from the door. He tripped, his balance failing him, and they both tumbled to the grass before the door. Buddy fell on top of her, the girl taking the brunt of the fall. “What are you doing that for? Don’t you know you could be killed?” He asked as he tried to get up, scrambling to his feet.
“A thank you would be in order.”
VIOLET ISOBEL PARR Notes: He's such a great hero. xD

THOUGHT MYSELF TO DEATH | love it! love them! i have this odd sort of feeling that they might not actually hate each other xD |
An unusual day it definitely was, for as she was just about to touch the knob of the door, a man knocked her away. It was too fast for her to even react. One minute she was standing in front of the door, ready to open in it. The next, she felt an arm around her waist, roughly pulling her away. Unfortunately, the man lost his footing, causing them to both crash to the ground, him landing on top of her. The force had knocked the breath out of her, making her gasp as a reaction to the weight.
For a moment, she laid there, trying to gather her bearings and take in what just happened. Her cheeks quickly became a dark pink color as Violet realized her face was only inches from the stranger, making her highly uncomfortable. Not that she was comfortable in the first place with the fall to the ground and then the weight of a man landing on her. Her terrified eyes watched him as he stood from her, practically lecturing her about the door. Her head shook a couple times from side to side, as she sat up, but kept herself on the ground for a bit longer. "I - I -" She couldn't spit anything out. Violet had never been good with new people, let alone men.
"Thank you." It slipped from her lips only seconds after he mentioned it. She knew she owed him a thank you, maybe even more. If it weren't for him, she could be dead. What was she even thinking? Why did she almost open the door? It was stupid of her and something she would remind herself to never do again. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself down, especially her nerves. "I was curious." She told him in a whisper, finally letting the words come out that she had wanted to say before. "I, um... I know it was stupid."

He stood before her, noticing that she had not gotten up either. She looked absolutely terrified, her eyes full of panic. Her paltry gratitude didn’t make him happy considering that he saved her from complete oblivion. He had lost a great observation, something he would have to pay for in the future. But oddly enough, there was a bit of pride blooming deep in his belly. In all things considering, he did do a good deed and he saved someone. He was a hero, momentarily. And that made his lips curve into a gloating smile. “I saved you,” He said, smugly. “You owe me now.”
Buddy offered his hand to her, wanting to help her back on her feet. “Still, you shouldn’t be going around touching things you aren’t sure about. This is a dangerous place even with the fun colors.” Apparently there was something in the water that was making people run around with crazy ideas like touching dangerous doors, drinking out of random bottles (The incident with Tania’s ‘drink me’ potion was still fresh in his head. She could have been killed, what was she thinking? Stupid girl), and conversing with animated flowers. Good thing he drank coffee.
There was no further talk about her “owing” him anything for saving her life. He figured it was implied and that he could get what was owed to him later. Sure heroes were supposed to do things selflessly, but something in him didn’t want that. It was like he wanted anything from her. Maybe a bit more of her being thankful, he did save her life after all. His ego could use the boost and she needed to understand that her life was in his hands. Oh that thought ran through his head quickly. Having a life in his hands…

THOUGHT MYSELF TO DEATH His words hit her hard, making her even more concerned. Owe him? Violet understood that he had saved her life, but what did she have to give? She didn't have a talent. She didn't have anything of luxury or value. She wanted to help him, for helping her, but she honestly was useless. "I-I'm sorry. I don't, um, I don't have anything to give you." She told him, sounding defeated.
Watching, she sat there for a moment as he reached out his hand to help her up. Vi couldn't help but stare at it for a moment, wondering if she should take it. He couldn't be that bad, right? He had just saved her life. With a shaky hand, she finally reached forward and took his outstretched hand, using it to pull herself up. "Thank you." She told him again, this time for helping her up, but she was still very grateful for what he did for her. "I know." She nodded, agreeing with him. It really had been a stupid decision. Simply put, she wasn't thinking straight.
Clearing her throat, she looked around for a moment, unsure what else to say, or do. It was awkward just standing there, but then again, she wasn't expecting to meet anyone. Or to go through what she just had. Wait, she had just met him, but didn't even know his name. "Do you mind me asking your name?" She spoke up, looking at him again. "I'm Violet."

“You should think about that the next time that you put yourself in a precarious situation. It is important to have things close at hand…” He commented as he took a step closer to her. He squeezed her hand and pulled her up, taking a step back as he did so. He glanced at the door and figured that it would be better to walk away from the temptation. Sure, he had thought about just taking a chance and opening the door himself. But the risk was too much.
“Buddy,” He said simply, tilting his head as he went to walk past her, figuring that the conversation was over. He had saved her, she would either endanger herself again or she would go on her way. He didn’t want to bother himself with her. Especially when he figured that he should at least go find Tania to see if she had gotten back home okay. Part of him hoped that she didn’t just so he could feel more important, that she was too incompetent to even walk through the woods without him by her side. That small bit of power left him craving for more than just two girls and their dependence on him. There could be more.
“No more touching the door, okay?” He did say, stopping short. He went to turn to look back at her, a look of intrigue passing over his eyes as he saw the scared aura that was still surrounding the girl. “Hey…you look like you’re still at death’s door…what’s going on with you?” He asked her. He figured that Tania could wait for a while. She always would….
