James was always getting himself into trouble, even when he was just a baby. He often contemplated a larger meaning to life rather than growing up and becoming a lawyer or a doctor or something else that was fitting for a boy of his families’ station. He didn’t think any of that sounded like any fun at all, not too mention it all seemed entirely unnecessary. All of the hullaballoo that people made about him at parties just seemed foolish. His mother showed him off like a prize that she’d won after a very long and hard competition. ”Oh, look at his head of hair! And only a month old!” If she was so proud of it, why couldn’t the hair go on to be a doctor instead of him? He would rather be a... Explorer! An archeologist! Something that was different every day! One reason being a baby sucked was because you had to do the same thing every day and no one understood what you trying to say. It was downright unfair.
[break][break]
Five years later, James had officially decided that he was done with this upper class business. He wanted to make some real change, in a world without so many bow ties and people pinching his cheeks. So, he ran away. He wasn’t sure where to, exactly, but he went ahead and made a break for it while his mother was entertaining friends for tea. He had no idea how sad she was how would he? For all he knew she was just glad to be rid of the little boy who spit on his father’s nice shoes and make a ruckus. He had no idea what heartbreak comes when a mother loses a child.
[break][break]
A few days after he left he was in pretty bad shape, physically at least, but he really enjoyed being out on his own! It was a little weird, at first, staying hidden in strange places. But he came to found that he liked discovering new and odd places. He liked making friends with the little rats and stray cats he’d meet around the outskirts of town. Soon, however, he was found by a boy with strange funny hair, leafy clothes and the ability to fly. Well, that seemed entirely normal to James for he never really heard that flying was out of the question! So, it was quite easy for the small boy to fly as well, following the leafy guy on a very strange journey to Neverland.[break][break]
He stayed there from then on and slowly became Peter Pans second in command for he was the first one Peter brought to Neverland. As it turned out, every time he and Peter went back to visit their home world they aged just a little, which meant that they aged incredibly slow for once you’re in Neverland your aging stops completely. James’s name was changed to Slightly early on, and he had forgotten about his parents over time and about the name James all together. He grew up to be outgoing, adventurous and a little bit eccentric. He, along with other boys that he and Peter recruited, started to where animal themed clothes as they become one with Neverland and its forests. Slightly took on the Fox, because he felt he had a lot in common with the animal. Elusive, fast, brave and clever. These were all things Slightly admired about himself and Peter often complimented him on his ability to lead whilst Peter was away. The group of young boys who lived there called themselves The Lost Boys, led by Peter Pan.[break][break]
There was a short time in Neverland where things were different for Peter Pan, Slightly and the Lost Boys. A girl named Wendy Darling and her two brothers came to stay with them. Peter had invited Wendy to come and tell the Lost Boys stories! While the Darlings where there, however, a bit of a war broke out between the Lost Boys and the pirates. They used Wendy against them and the Lost Boys were kidnapped. All Slightly cared about in that moment was protecting his friends, but the pirates had discovered their hide-out and it was all downhill from there. As they waited to walk the plank, Captain Hook told them that Peter Pan was dead, for he thought he had succeeded in killing him.
[break][break]
Peter was Slightly’s oldest and only friend, so this news caused him to become quite angry. Being the brave kid he is, and a little bit reckless, Slightly took to yelling out that it wasn’t true, that Peter couldn’t be dead. His faith never wavered, right up to the moment that Peter in fact did show himself and rescued them. A fight ensued, something that Slightly loved. He was always adventurous and incredibly handy with a sword and using every day objects against people. The Lost Boys won, and the Darlings were returned to London.
[break][break]
Little time passed after that, at least it didn’t feel like long. The more Slightly thought about the Darlings the more he wanted to go back to the world he left behind, but he couldn’t. He wanted to stay and take care of the Lost Boys. Not to mention Peter. He could tell their ‘fearless’ leader was lonely now, and he didn’t want to make it worse by leaving. He didn’t have much choice though when the curse hit and suddenly everything was being ripped away from him.
[break][break]
Now, with no memory, Wonderland doesn’t seem that strange to him considering his mind is conditioned for Neverland. He knows that there are people out there whom he cares about, whom he is meant to help lead, and a best friend who needs him. He just doesn’t know who they are, or where to find them.
