John and his two siblings had a rather charmed life. They never wanted for anything. John was happy as the middle child, because he was free to do anything he wanted and no one paid much attention to it. Of course, his idea of a good time was going to the family library and reading for hours on end. It probably wasn't exciting to most people, but those characters in the books he read were truly wonderful company, and provided him with countless hours of entertainment. Perhaps he delved so deeply in to the tales of others because he had no experience with such things himself.

Not to mention the fact that his parents were never around.. It wasn't because he and his siblings were unloved, but they had a lot of responsibilities. He understood that. Deep down, he was still bothered by it, but he would never tell them out loud. He didn't want them to feel pressured, and he certainly didn't want to be a burden. Besides, he and Michael had Wendy, and Nana to take care of them. John often felt bad for Wendy.. she was so young, and had so much on her plate. He couldn't have imagined what it would have been like to concentrate on an education, and helping to raise two young boys.

She had told him before, that he must not worry about such things, but it was difficult to someone who constantly over analyzed things, and worried about everything.

Wendy often told John and Michael about a boy named Peter Pan from a place called Neverland. Peter could fly, and he never grew up who would come visit her when he lost his shadow. Peter told her tales of pirates, and adventure, and she'd recall them to John and Michael. John took the role of Captain Hook when they acted out the stories..they were quite fun, and whimsical, but he thought they were just that. Stories.

One night, when Nana tucked him and the others in to bed, something incredible happened that he wouldn't have believed if it hadn't happened directly to him. He and Michael finally met Peter Pan. Obviously John was skeptical...he thought it was just a story, or a game. He'd never heard of such a place before as Neverland, and Geography was one of his strongest subjects. Although physics was another, and he couldn't figure out exactly what could make the boy fly as he did.

Peter had a small, winged friend named Tinker Bell who seemed quite unimpressed at being used to make the Darling children fly. Think happy thoughts.. that's what he instructed them to do..and so John did just that. Soon enough, they were all floating off the ground, and out the window, heading toward Neverland.

If things weren't strange enough already, they were introduced to Pirates who tried to strike them down.. And a group of boys who never grew old.. boys that saw Wendy as their new mother. They also met the Indians of the island, and were almost killed. Their time in Neverland had been just like the stories from the books he was so fond of..filled with adventure and danger. He never thought he'd be in such a position.

Peter returned John and his siblings to their home once the fearsome pirate Captain Hook was chased off with the rest of his crew, and they were once more safe and sound. John never forgot that time that he spent in Neverland, and how much he had changed there.. Not until the curse, at least.

John had grown to be a smart, charming young man who wanted to be a professor. All of that was forgotten when he was transported to Wonderland with no recollection of his past. Currently, Jonathan is making plans to start a University in Wonderland, that's open to all who'd like to attend..but first, he has to get it cleared with the Queen.
