(Couldn't resist putting the pic in. ONLY TIME I'LL DO IT!!!) Milo knew that the festivel had been approaching for several days now but still, he didn't really think of taking part. He was just so caught up in trying to figure out what the crystal he had was! He searched through quite a few of the books that were in the school library as well as the one in the village....to no avail. So here he was again, searching through books trying to figure out what this interesting little trinket was. The problem? The problem was he was sitting down in that accursed boiler room while the festival was going on! That was the problem. A few staff members tried to convince him to come out, heck even a student tried. He merely told them that he'd go later and that he just needed to find something...well it had been quite a while since someone had come to try and get him to leave course you couldn't detour Milo for anything when it came to this. Heck getting him to stop doing anything that he was determined to would give you no results. It was quiet down in the room until the sound of something going through the pipes and the boiler complaining in it's loud metallic and lifeless way.
However he soon heard the sound of the door opening for who cares amount of times, still he didn't look up from the book as his eyes scanned the words and pictures on the pages. A little odd mess he had going on, for some reason he had a desk down here though it was old and clearly not a good idea to have students use. Course the top of it was littered with books; some he borrowed and would return and others he had purchased.
"I'll be out in a few minutes." Milo told the person who had come down for most likely the same reason as the others.

Eve wasn't going for the festival, she didn't have time for that. She had plenty of research to do and a festival wasn't going to put a stop to that. Sadly, the books in the palace library were... Limited. Eve often had to go into town in order to find books that would her needs. However, she had trouble getting through to the library through the crowds of people attending the festival.
Before she knew it, she was herded into a building and in order to dodge the crowds she went into the first door she could find. She descended the stairs to a strange room with a loud boiler and a pile of books. Well, wasn't that convenient?
"Oh, I do not suggest going out there," she said as she approached the pile of books where a voice had come from. "It's a mad house," she gently moved a few books aside in order to see him. A guy with sandy hair and glasses. And... "what are you reading?"

When the books were pushed aside, he looked up and was surprised. He didn't recognize her as a student or a member of staff, well considering it was a festival out there people might be celebrating in doors too.
"Oh, sorry. I thought you were one of the students or staff members who've been trying to get me to join in before I'm ready." Milo said as he set the clear crystal that was attached to a string of sort to serve as a means to have it around his neck. "I'm Milo Thatch and you are? Oh this is just a book on crystals and gemstones, I'm trying to figure out what this crystal is but it's not in any of these books."

Eve was the last person who would suggest that he go out there into the festival, as proved previously. However, she understood how assumption for it seemed that many people could easily have come down to try and beckon him to the surface. Eves eyes were drawn to the crystal, and she tried not to stare for too long. It really was fascinating, that was true.
She tore her eyes away from the crystal to look back at him as he spoke. "Milo. I'm Everest Emerson, the royal botanist researcher," she leaned forward on the desk to get a better look at the crystal. "I'm sure I could help you figure that out," she added.

A trinket of his that he had when waking up, though why did he have it? There was something to this thing, tied to the forgotten past and he was going to figure that out. Figuring out just what type of crystal it was could help him out. Noticing that she was looking at it before she looked back up to him, he gave a smile.
"Puzzling little thing, I know. I've been trying for hours and I've been getting nothing." Milo said, course he was soon surprised by what she said she was. "Quite a position you've got, I'm just the guy stuck in the bolier room making sure it runs. Sure I do other stuff but it's mainly that noisy thing. Sure, a fresh set of eyes might just be what I need. Thanks."

"Pleasure," Eve crossed around the desk, moving some books aside as she did. Once she was in the same side as he, she leaned over in order to get a closer look at the crystal. "Sometimes a second eye is just what you need. I'm incredibly grateful for my assistant in moments like that," she explained.
"So, you just make the boiler work and read a lot?" She asked, turning to look at him for a moment. He seemed like a smart guy. At least, smart enough not to have to sit in a boiler room day after day.
"Did you bring this with you or find it here in Wonderland?" She asked, referring back to the crystal.

Milo scooted a bit out of his seat, not enough to fall out of it but just enough to give Everest some more space when she leaned in to look. This was a new situation for him to be in, this close to a girl. Course he wasn't thinking anything wrong it was just his social awkwardness kicking in.
"Yeah pretty much..." Milo answered. "According to the director and his staff I'm needed more down here than in any classroom."
It was odd to him that he was placed in here when he was knowledgable in other areas, like a few languages but eh not important. He just had to accept this fact that this was where they must've thought he was best suited. Either that or they were just too lazy to hire a actual matience man or woman for this thing.
"I must've, I woke up with it and....well I just feel like this is important somehow. To me that is." Milo answered, not too sure on how to put it.

"Well, that remains to be seen," Eve commented as he explained why he was banished to this boiler room. She always gave people a chance to prove themselves and she could see potential after spending time with someone. Just the fact that he didn't want to be down here was proof enough for Eve that he shouldn't be.
"Aw," Eve acknowledged his explanation as to how he received the crystal. "Well, it looks important. Could certainly be a key factor in finding out where you came from. Have you learned anything adopt it yet?" She asked as she leaned away from the crystal and from him. She had never seen anything like it and was quite sure that she was not from the place it came from. Still, it was interesting that it had come with him from the old world, wherever that was. That must mean something big would be coming from the thing.

Who would wanna be down here? It was miserable and cramped, sure his large assortment of books wasn't helping but eh it was tolerable. What he wanted was a better position or one that was more useful, like teaching. He knew many things and they could be useful yet here he was.
"I haven't found anything, it might look similar to some things but it's not them." Milo answered.
Looked important? It sure felt like it was certainly important in some way though if he was right or not on this it at least felt important to himself.
"I do think it holds something about who I am, though what it is exactly I can't be sure." Milo added.
@eve (Sorry this took so long)

"Aw. Well, I do hope you figure it out," she said, pulling away a little in order to fold her arms over her chest. "I have some good resources back at the castle, if you want to try using some of my equipment. I mean, normally I wouldn't just let anyone come in and use my stuff, but I think if this will help you unlock your past... well, I think everyone needs a past," she explained. She knew this memory wipe stuff was bad enough, she wanted to help as many people as possible to fix it.
