Alice strolled through the garden, admiring the scent and beauty of the roses. She was drawn to them for some reason..but the odd thing was that she couldn't decide if she loved or hated them. There was a strong emotion linked with the flowers, but it was very troubling. Still though, she did enjoy looking at them. She could certainly appreciate their beauty, no matter how she felt about them deep down. As she walked, she noticed that there were some white flowers amid the red ones. She stepped closer to the white roses and she bent at the waist to sniff one of them. The petals were soft against her nose, and the fragrance filled her nose with delight. However, she suddenly heard a voice in her head. "Paint it red!" the voice shouted to her. Suddenly spooked, she jumped back with a small squeak. She looked around..but no one was there.
Maybe she was going crazy..or maybe the world around her was just crazy, and she was perfectly sane. Deciding to see if it would happen again, she lowered her nose to the rose again. "Paint it red!" the voice shouted again. This time, Alice spoke to the voice in her head.. even though she realized it was only a memory, or perhaps her imagination. "No!" she huffed. "I don't want to. It's perfectly perfect just the way it is." She spoke to herself, trying to push the voices away. "Keep it white." She nodded firmly.

LET ME STAND NEXT TO YOUR FIRE S omething seemed familiar about this garden, like he had seen it hundreds, maybe thousands, of times. Roses he found a little plain, but still they seemed to harbor some familiarity so he was drawn to them. They were so red like the drop of blood from a pin-pricked finger that they almost looked painted. But that was silly--who would paint flowers? Talon was naive to think he'd been here alone so when he heard the voice of another person, his head jerked immediately toward the sound. He had to tread carefully around some tall bushes and peer through a view thick vines, but there she was: a blonde talking to herself. Talon wasn't one to believe in stereotypes, but... Starting toward her, Talon chimed in in a playful voice, "I agree!" Once he approached her, he offered her a nonchalant smile. "I don't know what I'm agreeing to, but you seemed upset about it so I just thought I'd agree." @alice

She hadn't been expecting anyone else to be in the garden. Not in this part, at least. Alice was good at sensing that she was being watched, and she felt it right now... but really, it could have been merely the roses. Sure, they didn't have eyes or mouths, but they were alive, weren't they? But this was something different. She couldn't shake that voice floating around in her mind though, telling her to make the roses red instead of white. It seemed her argument was backed by a stranger whom suddenly revealed himself and voiced that he agreed with her. "Oh," A light blush touched her cheeks. "I didn't think anyone else was here." Even though she was bickering with herself quite intensely.
"I promise I wasn't talking to myself. Well.. I was, but it was more talking to a memory. Or.. a dream maybe? Oh dear.. this sounds so confusing, doesn't it?" She clutched her hands together behind her back and started to chew on her bottom lip. "I.. kept remembering someone telling me to paint the roses red...but it makes no sense. Who would paint a rose?"

LET ME STAND NEXT TO YOUR FIRE I t seemed that Talon had embarrassed the poor girl. Of course, that only made him smile a little wider, not out of malice or anything, but just because he found it kind of funny. She really shouldn't have been chagrined if she had the gall to talk to herself in a public place, right? Hearing the girl mention painting roses, though, caused his brows to shoot up, shocked that she had had the same notion as him. With his face slowly descending from surprise back into a warm smile, he replied, "You know, I... actually thought the same thing. But they look painted, don't they? The red ones?" He paused, looking away from her, appearing lost in his thoughts a moment. When he returned his gaze to her, he seemed almost convinced of something. "I think they look fake. The white ones are perfect, like you said." Talon shifted his stance into one a little more casual and gave the girl a teasing look. "What are you doing in the rose garden anyways? Are you trying to make the roses jealous?" @alice

Deep down, Alice wondered if she knew this man.. but he didn't seem familiar to her in any way. Then again..these days, things that were familiar seemed to come and go so quickly. It was so strange, and so very difficult to keep up with. When he spoke of the red roses looking as though they were painted, her eyes widened. He saw it too?! She gasped and nodded frantically. "Yes, yes they do! It's very curious..." She lowered to her knees carefully, and touched one of the petals of the red roses. "They even feel a little different." She lifted her gaze to him again when he asked if she was there to make the roses jealous. Instantly, she blushed once more.
"I highly doubt that," She said in an 'as a matter of fact' tone, but she was still smiling. "But it's a very kind thing to say. Are you always this charming?" She asked as she rose to her feet once more, moving her hands to brush off the bottom of her light blue dress. "Or am I just lucky enough that you found me on a good day?" There was a teasing tone in her voice, that seemed to take over the dreamy tone she normally had.

LET ME STAND NEXT TO YOUR FIRE T his seemed easy. Too easy. Even if he hadn't thought the roses were painted, she would have believed that he did all the same. Maybe he was wrong, but this girl just seemed far too naive. Talon smiled again as she blushed again. For once in his life (that he could remember so far, anyways), he was not being entirely untruthful. It was a somewhat strange feeling that he was sure he couldn't recall before he had woken up in this place, but it was something like tiny bugs in his chest. He had heard someone say the word before... Attraction? That is, if someone was pretty or handsome? Talon did find her pretty, prettier than plants--which was an odd feeling to him--but that wasn't going to stop him from leading her astray. Just a little astray. "I'm just being honest! What do roses have on... oh," Talon paused, seeming a bit distraught. "You know, I don't think I even know your name. I'm Talon." He was really starting to get ahead of himself, but fortunately he was able to tie it back into something simple: a name. @alice

Alice felt something strange, and unusual. She loved watching butterflies flitting around, so she likened the feeling to exactly that. Butterflies, flying around in her stomach. She thought he was quite handsome, but how was she supposed to react to it? He seemed to be enjoying her company as well, so she went along with their exchange of words, trying to act as normal as possible. Alice was a strange girl, so being normal came rather difficultly to her. He introduced himself to her, after inquiring her name. It was only polite to respond with her own. "My name is Allison," She spoke with a small curtsy. "But you can call me Alice, if you'd like."
Alice is what she preferred to be called, but she'd really answer to any variation of her name. As far back as she could remember, though - which wasn't very far at all, actually - she'd never been called Allison. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Talon." Deciding to continue the conversation and speak about something other than the roses, she switched topics. "Are you going to the festival that Jack Burton has planned?" She inquired with a slight tilt of her head.

LET ME STAND NEXT TO YOUR FIRE A lice, Alice, Alice. Why did that name seem like nails on chalkboard to him? He knew he had never met this girl before or heard her name, yet... he loathed it all the same. It wasn't until he felt the crease of his frown that he realized his expression had taken a complete nosedive. Hastily he built up his smile again and replied nonchalantly as if nothing had been wrong in the first place, "It's a pleasure to meet you as well. Do you mind if I call you Allison?" Talon didn't make his unease conspicuous, but there was still that nagging at the back of his mind. Where had he heard that name before? Regardless, he shook it off and tried to focus more on the conversation at hand. Talon mimicked her head tilt, though not purposefully, and shook his head slightly at her. "I hadn't even heard about it," Talon lied, "but if you needed someone to go with you, I wouldn't say no." He flashed her a little sideways grin. @alice

Alice noticed his seeming disapproval of her name. He was quick to attempt hiding it, but that's something that someone notices, isn't it? He then asked if he could call her Allison, and although it sounded like she were about to get punished or reprimanded in some way, she still obliged with a smile. "Allison is fine." He then told her that he hadn't heard about the festival. How could he not have heard?! It was the first event in Wonderland, that anyone could remember at least. "Really? Well it's a good thing I told you, otherwise you'd be the only one stuck in your house and not having any fun."
When he spoke of how he would go with her, if she wanted to, she opened her mouth to speak..but then he gave her a sideways smile and she practically lost her memories again. Only this time for a far different reason. "I, I, I, um.." She fluttered her lashes at the unexpected offer of an escort. "That would be lovely, Talon. Lovely, and fun."

LET ME STAND NEXT TO YOUR FIRE T alon actually had not been planning on going to the festival, but after hearing how big an event it was supposed to be from Alice, he started to grow excited about going. There would be a lot of people to talk to, and this Jack Burton fellow... He had to be some kind of leader figure to throw a whole festival, right? Talon started to brainstorm. "Great!" Talon exclaimed, sincerely a little excited. Having someone to accompany him to the festival just seemed like a nice time on top of allowing him to snoop around a bit. After all, it didn't have to be all business. Talon didn't know why he had hated her name so much, but he certainly didn't hate her. "I can't wait to go the festival then--I don't think I've ever been to one. Have you?" questioned Talon. He couldn't remember much and had never thought that other people didn't remember much, but he was now compelled to find some solidarity in someone else never going. It just seemed like such a sad thing that he'd never experienced any, so he wanted to know he wasn't the only one. @alice

Of course no one had recollection of their memories for quite some time now, which was a curious thing in itself, but it was always strange to come by someone who couldn't remember things. Even though it seemed to be...well...everyone. It was like the whole of wonderland was mad, in the strangest of ways. Yet Talon seemed to recall that he'd never been to a festival, and honestly, neither could Alice. "Actually," She spoke, lifting a hand and touching her index finger to her lips in thought. "No.. No I don't think I've ever been to one either. I do remember a lot of tea parties though, I believe.. isn't that peculiar?" The 'memories' she spoke of were very vague.
The only reason she could even recall such a thing, is because it was the closest thing to a gathering of friends that she could think of. "I believe the last one I went to could have been..a birthday party of sorts." She tilted her head slightly to the side once more. She had no idea why she was rambling..perhaps it was because she was nervous? Or maybe it's because she had no one to talk to like this otherwise.. aside from apparently the voices in her own head. "Anyway, it's exciting that we'll get to experience a festival for the first time together."

LET ME STAND NEXT TO YOUR FIRE I t was almost a relief to hear someone else hadn't remembered going to any festivities, but at the same time, he was a bit distraught at the fact. Talon had met a few people who had no recollection of what happened before they were suddenly in Wonderland. For him, it was kind of the opposite. Wonderland looked and seemed the same to him--almost like home--but he had no idea where all these people with no memories came from. Because it certainly wasn't Wonderland. "Tea parties?" Talon repeated, screwing up his face in playful disbelief. "Don't stuffy noblewomen go to those? You don't seem stuffy to me. Quite the opposite, really." Tea parties sounded boring--who wanted to sit around a table full of women denying their own age and drink bitter tea? Maybe he was just simpler than he liked to believe. Grinning, he replied to her last comment, "Yes, it will be. I just hope it won't be too strange to go with someone you've just met." @alice

When Talon spoke of tea parties being for stuffy nobelwomen, she had to giggle at the remark. It seemed that the tea parties she knew of were completely different than his views. She couldn't remember the ones she had before this life, but she could definitely recall the fun she had with March and Keith at their iced tea 'party' in the Mad Hatter's Tea Room. "There are places where tea parties are completely different. It's nice to know that you don't think i'm stuffy, though." She spoke with a charming smile. "One day, you might even attend a tea party.. If there's enough incentive."
When he brought up going to the festival with someone whom she had just met, she glanced down at the ground briefly before returning her gaze to his. "Everyone you meet in life is someone you've only just met at one point or another, are they not? Especially now, with no one having their memories.. maybe we're not even strangers at all." She had to admit, there was some sort of familiarity to him, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why.
