For most taking a break simply meant having a little lunch and chilling from the day's work. For Meg it meant getting away from the world... well the little part of Wonderland she knew. She, like most in the village, weren't too keen on what else was out there. Being in the place she called her shop and her home, she could be where she wanted to be... alone. Meg didn't know why, but she felt she had always been a loner. He felt good being alone. People were capable of betraying you, capable of hurting you. She didn't want that.
At the same time, she did long for someone. She wasn't sure who, but it was someone who was truly good. Someone who hadn't fallen to the dark ways of the world- the selfishness, the elitism, the urge to do wrong. But where was that person? She hadn't ran into someone like that yet... at least in her mind. Perhaps someone... some day... but she wasn't holding her breath.
Meg plopped down on an old, cushioned chair. She heard the growl in her stomach and rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, I hear you," she said. "Let's see what delicious lunch I can get out of a can today." She looked through her cabinet and found what wasn't the best selection of meals. She wasn't much of a shopper. "Tomato soup.. tomato soup... or tomato soup?" She grabbed a can, hardly feeling silly that she was talking to herself. She took the can opener and opened it before plopping it in a pot and heating it.

Sally was becoming more and more social as of late. She knew that no one had their memories, and it must have been hard for everyone. Slowly, people were coming together little by little and forming friendships and relationships...but one of her neighbors in particular hadn't seemed to do that much. Meg was a Jill of all Trades..she could do anything..but she seemed so afraid to let anyone in. Sally took it upon herself to make an attempt at breaking down the walls that the woman was putting up. It wasn't healthy to never let anyone close..was it? In her hands, was a tray of food that she had cooked. A pasta dish that she absolutely loved. Carefully holding it with one hand - very carefully, as it was quite hot - Sally knocked lightly on the door of Meg's home and shop.
It was lunch hour, so she was sure that Meg would be taking her break by now. After all, it was the reason that she closed up her shop at the moment as well. "Meg? Are you home?" She called from behind the door in a rather nervous tone. It wasn't that she was afraid of talking to new people..it was more that she was awkward, and nervous at how she would be received.

Meg watched as the tomato soup as it cooked. It was if waiting for it to be done was the most exciting thing that happened to her all day. That was sad, but then again Meg wasn't the whole "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere". Eating alone was just fine with her. She filled up a bowl and began looking around for a spoon. It was then that she discovered that they were all dirty.
"Great," she said. She looked at the bowl for a moment, then picked it up and was about to sip it. That was cut off by the knock at the door. Because it was so quiet in the shop/home, the noise startled her and almost made her drop the bowl. This irked her a bit. "Yeah... I'm here. Hold on a minute."
She stepped over and opened the door. She recognized the girl. It was Sally, the Seamstress from town. She didn't think bad of Sally or anything. The girl was nice and all. However, she was pretty much like anyone else to Meg; a customer.
"Come in," she sighed. "What do you need fixing?" Meg then smelled the food she had cooked. She turned and looked at it. "What's that?"

When Meg answered the door, she seemed a little busy..but that didn't stop Sally. She stepped inside after being invited in, and when Meg asked what she needed fixing, she shook her head and laughed. "I don't need anything fixed. You're off the hook for now." She was about to explain why she was there when Meg asked what she was holding in the pan. "It's lunch, actually. I made pasta and decided to bring it over to share. I'm horrible at making food for only myself. For some reason I feel like I always have to make it for at least two..which is weird since it's only me." She shrugged lightly, and gave her a warm smile. "But anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to join me?"
Sally was fully prepared for Meg to tell her that she was too busy, but it was at least worth a try. "That is," She started as she noticed the bowl of soup sitting on the counter. "If you don't already have other lunch plans."

Meg gave Sally a confused look when she said she didn't need anything fixed. Usually if anyone came to see Meg at her pathetic excuse from a home and workplace, it was because they needed something. Nobody ever came in for afternoon tea or anything like that. It wasn't like she usually had tea anyway. Nevertheless, here Sally was... not needing anything. Meg was not only confused, but curious as well.
"Off the hook, huh?" she sighed. "Hooray for that..." She of course didn't sound all that enthusiastic. Again, nothing against Sally. Sally was a sweet girl. It's just... Meg didn't care for casual visitors. Well... maybe she just wasn't used to them.
Sally then invited her to lunch. The food she made smelled really, really good. And her soup was looking worse and worse by the minute. She smirked when Sally asked if she had any lunch plans. She pointed to the soup.
"That was my lunch plans," she said. "Um... sure. Why not?" She then looked at her dining table, which had a mess of tools and paint cans laying on it. "We should go outside."

Sally could sense Meg's sarcasm, but merely brushed it off. It was clear that the woman was standoff-ish of others, and it wasn't her fault, really.. The poor girl was like everyone else - alone, and lost without her memories. Sally took it upon herself to help with that loneliness, at least as much as she possibly could. She watched as Meg pointed to what was supposed to be her lunch, and she grinned. "Looks like I saved the day." She shook her hips left and right, so that the pockets that were sewn in to her dress jingled. "I even brought forks. No plates, but who needs those?" She beamed.
When Meg offered to sit outside as there was no room, thanks to her current projects, Sally nodded. "Of course! Food is always better as a picnic anyway." She turned, and started out the door without another word. It might seem strange to others that Sally had cutlery in her pockets..but that was one thing she always was.. Prepared. She even had needles and thread in there - just in case anything needed stitching.

When Sally said it looked like she had saved the day, Meg placed her hands over her heart.
"My hero," she said with a fake swoon. This time she wasn't being sarcastic. She was actually just being silly. She even gave Sally a genuine smile to show it. "But seriously, thanks. I'm really getting tired of tomato soup."
Meg was glad Sally brought folks. The ones she had were probably dirty too. Wow, she really needed to do some dishes. She chuckled about the plates.
"Yeah..." she said, looking over at the dirty plates she had. "Who needs those?" Meg suddenly felt lucky that she found a clean bowl to make the soup. Wait... was that bowl clean?
A picnic? Meg had never done a picnic before. At least, she never remembered having one of those. She guessed there was a first... well a possible first for everything and went outside. She sat on the ground and looked at the food anxiously. He was also curious.
"So... I just have to know... why are you doing this, Sally?" she asked. "I don't think I've ever said more than a sentence to you at a time."

At Meg's mock swoon, Sally laughed. It was nice to see her being silly. Everyone should cut loose once in awhile. "I'm glad to help, little lady," she teased, not able to keep a straight face for very long. When the woman explained that she was getting sick of tomato soup, Sally scrunched her nose. That definitely wouldn't be hard to do. There was nothing wrong with eating soup, but every day? It would get incredibly trialing. "I can see how someone would get sick of it." She gave her a firm nod.
While they walked outside, Meg asked why she was doing this. Why she was suddenly showing up at her door with a huge pan of food, when the women hardly knew each other. That answer was simple. "That's exactly why, silly." Sally explained. "I figured it would be nice to get to know you, since we've hardly ever spoke." At least, as far as Sally could remember that is.

Sally seemed to enjoy Meg's humor, so... perhaps she could show a bit more of it around her. Time would tell. Meg had to be careful. Something told her that she had to be careful around people she accepted as friends. Something warned her of how easily anyone close could break her heart, friend or otherwise. But why? Where did this feeling come from?
When Sally explained why she was doing what she did, it made some sense. There was at least logic to it anyway. However, why Meg? Why was the Jill Of All Trades who did her work and kept to herself worth getting to know. Meg seemed to have a poor opinion of others, but had an even worse opinion of herself. Again, she had no idea where this came from, but it was there.
"Um... okay," she said. She then found a place to sit down, again anxiously looking at the food. "So... what would you like to know? I mean, there isn't much to me. I go around and fix stuff. That's.. well that's all I ever remember doing..." She then looked at Sally as if to ask if she felt the same way about her own life.

Being standoffish was part of the territory around Wonderland, Sally supposed. How could you get close to anyone, without knowing your past? Who knew really who friends and enemies were at this point? But Sally was trusting. Not too much so, but enough that she could confidently befriend those who seemed to close themselves off to everyone, and Meg happened to be one of those people. When they sat down, Sally pulled off the aluminum foil from the pan, and placed it to the side. She then handed over one of the forks to Meg. "Dig in." She beamed, and started to do the same.
Meg asked what she wanted to know, and Sally shrugged lightly. "Anything you're willing to share, I guess." She didn't really have a plan, or any sort of agenda. She just wanted to find a common bonding ground. "I remember fixing things too.. but it's mostly sewing things. That's why I'm a seamstress now. It just comes so easily."

When Sally pulled the foil from the pan, Meg smelled the full aroma of the food and her eyes lit up. She took her dish and it took every effort to actually use the fork to gobble it down. Yes anything was better than tomato soup to begin with, but this... this was incredible. If anything, Sally was an amazing good. Once she finished the food, she was sucking the remaining sauce off her fingers. She then looked up at Sally.
"Thanks," she said. "That was amazing." She then belched a bit, not really caring if it sounded lady-like or not. She then listened as Sally spoke of what she remembered. Meg was much the same. She remembered she was good at doing some kind of "oddjobs", but not exactly what. And that was what she was good at now, so at least it all made sense.
"So we recall knowing how we can do what we do now... but we don't know how we know," she said. "It all drives me crazy some times. I don't know what I was like as a kid. I don't know why I'm so weird around people... especially guys. I don't remember having a bad relationship. Heck, I don't even remember having a relationship." She then sighed and looked at Sally. "I... don't talk to a lot of people. Do you know if anyone else has this problem?"

While the two of them ate, it was relatively quiet. Sally kept finding herself drifting off in thoughts of a certain someone who always wore a pinstripe suit, and it seemed that Megara hadn't eaten a good home made meal in quite a long time. When the meal was finished, however, Meg broke the silence with a loud belch that made Sally giggle to the point where a snort escaped. "That means that it was good!" she cooed in delight. She was happy that Meg was enjoying the food, because Sally herself was enjoying the company. It was nice to just hang out with one of the other girls in Wonderland.
When Meg opened up to Sally, she nodded silently. She could relate to it. "Honestly, Meg.. I'm the same way. Well, I was. I kept to myself until someone came to me needing something stitched up or a dress made for them. But then I realized that if I want any link at all to my past, then I should probably start getting out and meeting people. Nothing will come from being alone." She gave her a small smile. "I've heard of people putting up walls for fear of being hurt, but don't you think that being alone will hurt even worse?"

Meg managed to laugh a bit when Sally laughed about her burp. She didn't say excuse me or anything, but then again Sally seemed hardly offended. She did managed to wipe her hands and mouth with a napkin. She wasn't a complete savage after all. She then took a happy breath and sat back.
"You're a really good cook," she said. "Heck even the people down at the tavern can't cook like that." And up until then, tavern food was about her only escape from the tomato soup cans. "Wish I could cook, but that seems to be one of the things I'm not very good at. Guess I have no reason to cook though." She probably never would. The thought of her having a family just seemed ridiculous.
Meg wanted to believe Sally about how good it was to meet other people. However, something inside her kept blocking the idea out. But why was that the case? After all, she liked being around Sally. She supposed it was okay to have one friend... maybe two later on.
"I've just felt that being alone means nobody's there to hurt you," she said. "No one there to say they love me and not mean it. I guess not knowing what it's liked to be loved makes it easier. I don't know." Meg sighed a bit. "I don't know."
