Their kingdom was by the sea, and from the time he could crawl and was taken to the beach to play, he was intrigued by the ocean. As he grew, he preferred to spend his days at the beach as opposed to being tutored in various royal arts by his valet Grimsby, much to the head servant's chagrin. At the age of fifteen, he went out to see the ships which belonged to his father. One of the sailors invited him out on a fishing trip, and in no time flat he was hooked on sailing. He asked the sailors to teach him how to do various things about the ship, as well as fish. By age seventeen, he was an expert sailor and fisherman. Though his father would have preferred that Eric be the prince he was, he could not deny his son his happiness and gave him his own ship on his eighteenth birthday. From that point, Eric spent a great deal of time at sea, only remaining in the castle when necessary. However, when Eric was in the castle, he was a good prince and treated all with dignity and respect. On the ship, he was just one of the crew, laughing and singing along with his good mates.[break][break]
Tragedy almost struck one night when he and his shipmates were celebrating a big fish catch out at sea. A storm broke out, and lightning struck a barrel on the ship which contained gunpowder. The explosion knocked Eric unconscious and sent him overboard. He was as good as drowned until a mysterious and beautiful young woman rescued him. Her singing caused him to open his eyes, but he only caught a glimpse of her. However, he immediately fell in love. [break][break]
Eric spent a great while searching for this mysterious girl, knowing he was meant to be with her. He found a girl stranded on the beach one day, and thought it was the girl until he found she couldn't speak. However, after spending time with her, he began to grow strong feelings for her. That was, until he saw another girl one night walking the beach and singing the song he had heard when he was rescued. He quickly approached the girl, and in no time flat they were to be married. During the wedding, chaos erupted and it was revealed that his blushing bride was a sea witch named Ursula and the quiet girl he had grown fond of was indeed the one who rescued him... and a mermaid as well once Ursula transformed her back. When the sea witch took the mermaid, who's name was Ariel, Eric went after and defeated the sea witch in order to get the love of his life back. Sadly, it seemed like their love was not to be until Ariel's father, King Triton, saw how much his daughter loved the prince and made Ariel human again. The two were married and it seemed it was another case of happily ever after... [break][break]
Then the Curse broke out. Eric was no longer a happily married prince, but a fisherman who worked on the docks of the sea off the coast of Wonderland. Eric is still very much the lovable and respectable man he was before. However, there is now a loneliness about him and one he can't quite explain. He's very charming and has had girls interested in him, but none seem to suit him... as if he is waiting for the right one to come along.........
