SOME ARE CRUEL, SOME ARE EVIL, and some are just insane. That feeling. One that made her feel insane made her feel different. It pulsed through her blood, boiled it until she was hot and sweaty, though she never showed it. She never once showed the discomfort of being in her own skin made her feel. If she did, well people would lock her away; deem her crazy, mentally unstable. Maybe she was, maybe she was just going through a phase. If her father heard about the way she was acting at school, the way she felt on the inside, he most likely would give up on her; throw her away to the nearest doctor. Except for, he was a doctor. Well a doctor of sorts. He was an inventor. Maybe that was why she felt this way; he never paid her any mind. He kept to himself since her mother passed away, and he just kept himself busy. It made her wonder if he actually loved her. But then, what was love? It was just an emotion, something that Doris seemed to not have. Sometimes, alone in her room, she wondered what it was like to feel…to be able to love someone as her father loved her mother.
The school had let them leave one hour, one hour left for time to adventure outside on the campus and just play. So that was what everyone in her class did. Doris? She just sat in the corner under a dark shady tree, alone and unfazed by the world around her. Of course today was different; a bird had died just underneath her tree. Doris was interested by it, stepping closer and closer until she was kneeling before it, her skin close enough that she could of felt a dead feather, her head close enough she could smell the stench of the deceased. But she didn’t react. Didn’t shy away from the dead creature, didn’t wrinkle her nose in disgust, and didn’t back away from the stench. No she got closer and closer. So close one would think she would lean down and kiss the disgusting thing. But she pulled back, quickly getting up and breaking a stick from the dying oak tree that became her friend before getting back in the same position.
“It’s okay little bird. I will take care of you.” she whispered, a weird smile fluttering onto her face. It was one that children would scream and run from, parents would shield their eyes from, the devil would laugh at and the angel would cry at. It was the smile of a demon. Though she was anything but. She was an innocent little girl. She took the stick and poked the bird with it. “I am a doctor you know little bird…got my degree from my daddy. He said that one day I will make a good doctor. Don’t you think?” she questioned no one but the dead bird that could not reply. She laughed as if hearing something funny “Of course you do. Daddy thinks that a doctor will be good for me. Mama use to tell me that we needed more doctors, but then she died.” She said poking the bird once again with a stick.
“What do you think Mr. Bird; would you trust me with being a doctor?”

519 • @dor15 • i'm excited! love the creepiness xD One hour early. One hour to do what she felt like before she needed to be home to check in with her brother. Selena loved school, and to learn. The young brunette adored her teachers and always had a good time with them. You could say she was sort of a teacher's pet, but she didn't care if other students called her that. It wasn't her fault she was so likable. She was a friendly girl after all, and enjoyed being around people, as well as helping them. However, the fourteen year old could not complain about being let out early because she equally, if not more, loved being outside. Especially when it was so nice out like it was that day. The brunette craved the outdoors and became restless if inside for too long. There was just something about being outdoors and in the fresh air that made her feel at home; at peace.
For the first few moments being outside, Lena walked around the grounds of the school, looking around at all the other students and picking flowers. Well, technically they were weeds, but they were pretty weeds. Selena knelt down, and plucked the pretty yellow weed from the ground, twirling it around between her finger and her thumb. A sweet smile appeared upon her lips and reaching up to her eyes. Nature made her happy, as it was always so beautiful. She always felt bad for it when it got so cold that the frost killed it. At least, she thought she would feel that way. After all, she didn't have any memories of living during the winter time. It was all so strange, but that was the last thought she had about it for the moment. She didn't care to dwell on her lost memories.
Placing the flower in her hair, resting on her ear, Selena stood up straight before she continued to walk on. However, it wasn't long before something caught her eye. It was a dark haired girl that she knew from her classes. She didn't know the other girl very well, because she had never spoken to her, but she at least recognized her. Oh, what was her name? It started with a D, right? Dottie? No. Debra? No. Oh! Doris! Doris was her name! Skipping over to the girl, she stopped in her tracks behind the tree, peeking around to see what she was doing. Her brows furrowed in confusion at the sight of the dead bird, and the girl prodding at it with a stick. Her words were strange and kind of, creepy. She could feel the gulp that slid down her throat as she stared, caught up in the darkness of the girl. Lena had always known she was quiet, and usually to herself, but she had never thought that a personality such as this was stored inside such a young girl like herself. Taking a deep breath, she stepped out from behind the tree, mustering up a small smile. "Hey Doris, what are you doing?" She asked, crossing her arms nervously. "You, um, you know it's dead right?"

SOME ARE CRUEL, SOME ARE EVIL, and some are just insane. When the dead bird didn’t answer, the young girl pouted, her lip coming out and then she bit it, hard enough to draw blood. “You know Mr. Bird; it is rude to ignore someone when they are talking. Does this mean that I am not going to be a good doctor?” she questioned, her voice cracking. She wasn’t going to cry. Then a voice came from behind her.
‘Hey Doris, what are you doing? You, um, you know it’s dead right?’
Doris slowly stood to her full height, the stick still in her hands before she slowly spun around, her eyes wide and filled with sadness, a weird type of sadness that is. “I was just playing doctor with this bird…would you like to join?” she questioned with a creepy smile, head tilting to the side. But then her next words hit Doris hard and she had to glance back at the bird, “If you say that he is dead, perhaps we need to find a new bird.” she said before crouching down and scooping the dead bird up into her hands before turning back to Salena.
“You wanna hold him? We should probably bury him before we find ourselves a new bird to play doctor with.” she stated, holding out the bird for the young girl to hold.
