Belle's Book Shop wasn't the busiest shop in the Village. In fact on some days it could be quite empty. It seemed like people were more interested in purchases that would either fill their bellies or make them look pretty (or handsome). But Belle hardly complained. She just enjoyed being around so many books, and if she got a customer or two... all the better. She did well enough to make a living, as a good few folks at least needed books for their jobs or for the school.
Belle hummed to herself as she walked in from the back of the shop with a stack of books she was to stock. Beside her was her chocolate brown cat, Aesop. She looked at the silly wall clock with the chubby and grumpy decorative face. She chuckled a bit.
"Is it tea time already?" she asked her feline. "Well that was a swift morning, wasn't it?" . She made some tea, and then poured it into her favorite cup. The cup looked like all the others, aside from the fact that it was slightly chipped at the top. While some would throw such a cup out, Belle deemed it special and used it all the time. Adding milk and sugar, she took a sip. She then gave Felipe a bowl of milk, bread, and a bit of meat.
"I suppose I should eat something as well... but not until I finish this chapter," she said. She then seated herself and grabbed a nearby book. It was one about a far away land where amazing and unusual things happened. Belle had several of those in her personal collection. She loved each one, and dreamed of going to such lands one day... if they actually existed of course.

Books! And cleverness! There are more important things -- friendship and bravery. @belle woot! |
Her eyelids fluttered open, a large yawn escaping from her lips as she stretched in bed. Blinking a few times, Anna allowed her eyes to adjust to the stream of sunlight that almost perfectly hit where she laid. Mornings were not her thing. In fact, she usually looked like some horrible monster whenever she awoke, with her hair all out of place and dry drool right on the corner of her mouth. It was frightening really, but that was who Anna was. A typical young woman just trying to survive life. And live it of course! Anna never let a single moment go without meaning.
Pushing the covers off of her lazily, she kicked her feet a few times to fully reveal her legs from underneath. She sat up, wiped her eyes, and then finally stood from the bed. Her mind was telling her to jump right back in and forget about the day, but she knew that was not possible. She had work, and how could she resist her job when it put her around chocolate every single day!
By the time she had finished getting herself ready, Anna had an hour to spare. Despite being an anti morning person, she still liked to give herself some time to walk about. Greet people, and let the fresh air fully wake her up. She left her quaint little home to make her way through the village where she worked, smiling and waving as people passed her by. "Hello." She would say to one. "Good morning!" To another. A smile was always plastered upon her lips, as she had no right to complain about her lovely life.
Walking past the bookstore, Anna's eyes caught sight of a book she had been waiting to come out. Her eyes widened in excitement as she ran to the window, almost tripping on her way, mind you. With a bright smile, she rushed in the door, forgetting the world around her as her feet swiftly carried her to the stand that held the book. With one hand, she grasped it gently to pick it up, as the other ran over the smooth cover. "I have been waiting for you to arrive!" She exclaimed excitedly to the book, her mind not even on the fact that there was another person in the room.

Belle was now no longer in this world. She was in a place full of elves and dwarfs and funny little people, along with a dragon of course. The world of course all existed in the book that her nose was stuck in. Belle was almost done with the chapter she was on, just one more page. However, the story was coming upon a very thrilling part and Belle was tempted to start on the next chapter. Would the dragon finally fall or was the town doomed? Belle didn't see or hear Anna when she walked into the shop. It wasn't until she concluded the chapter and placed it down to sip her tea that she saw her cat quite focused on something... or rather someone. "Aesop, whatever is the ma... OH!" she said, spotting Anna. "Oh dear." Belle blushed a bit. She quickly put down her book and rose, stepping over. "Hello there, and welcome to my shop. I'm Belle. I see you're interested in..." Belle then beamed when she saw what Anna was interested in, forgetting her embarrassment. "Oh, I love this book! I love the part where she... and the part with the... oh, I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't read it, but it's an amazing book!" Belle always loved to see someone sharing interest in the same books she did... or really in any book. Often if she didn't know about a book, someone else could make her want to read it. Hearing a voice, Anna was pulled from her own little world, turning to a young woman. She seemed a bit distraught. Maybe for the same reason Anna was surprised she had not seen the other girl there. She had been drawn into the book, forgetting all other life. "Hello!" She exclaimed with a bright smile upon her lips, pulling the book into an embrace against her chest. "I'm so sorry I didn't greet you before. I wasn't paying attention. I just saw the book and got excited!" Her excitement got the best of her; her arms being thrown out to the side, causing one of her hands to knock into a book stand. "Oh no!" She squeaked, terrified and embarrassed. Moving as fast as she could, she grabbed a hold of the stand so it didn't knock over, but she couldn't help the few books that fell to the ground. "Oh, I'm so clumsy sometimes. I'm really sorry!"
As she bent down to retrieve the fallen books, she heard the woman introduce herself. "It's very nice to meet you Belle. My name is Anna." She told her as she stood back up straight and returned the books to their rightful spots. "I really am sorry for that little scene. I really should be careful." Anna spoke in a more rushed tone now that she was embarrassed. "So you like the book? That's so exciting! I can't wait to read it even more now!" She beamed, still holding a nervousness to her expression and a blush to her cheeks.

The girl she spoke to seem quite embarrassed, but Belle was hardly upset with her. She thought she seemed quite friendly. "Oh, it's quite alright and I understand," she said. "I know how it feels when you see a book you want to read. It's truly one of the greatest feelings in the world. It's positively heavenly."Belle then chuckled when the girl knocked the books over and quickly helped her pick them up. "No, no reason to apologize," she said. "I really should move the stand closer to the wall. Believe me you're not the first to ruin into it. Even I've done so." She then smiled as the girl introduced herself. "It's lovely to meet you. Anna, I've always loved that name."Belle really didn't want the girl to feel bad. She gave her a warm smile and shook her head. "Nonsense," she said. "Please think nothing more of it." Belle then nodded about the book. "I've read it three times now, and every time I've found something new and fascinating in it. Perhaps after you read it, we can discuss it over tea. Speaking of... would you like some?"ANNA ELIZABETH DELLE

Anna beamed at the woman's kind words. "I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels that way! I mean, I really enjoy being outside and seeing the lovely world around me, but there's nothing like curling up with a good book that takes you to a world so different from ours." Sure, she was rambling just a bit, but she liked to talk and Belle seemed like the type that would be okay with that. After all, she seemed really nice and very easy to get along with. At least, that's what she could tell so far.
"Oh, oh I'm so glad." She chuckled, a hand on her chest. "I mean, not that you or anyone else has run into it. But really, I'm such a clumsy person. I really wish it wasn't so, but I just can't help it sometimes!" Anna told her, laughing again. "Thank you. I really like your name too. Simple, but elegant at the same time."
Anna was beginning to feel like she was making a quick friend. The brunette was positively lovely, and made her feel so much better about the situation. Some people were down right rude about such things. But not Belle. "That would be splendid! I shall finish it soon so I can take you up on that offer!" She nodded to her new found friend with a genuine smile upon her lips. "Sure! I would love some if you don't mind. Do you want me to go ahead and pay for the book before we sit?"

Belle knew right away that she had made a new friend. It was so good to see someone as interested in books as she was. Books took Belle where she wanted to go. She went to far away lands where incredible people and creatures lived. She was anywhere but... well... reality, which could be so dull at times. Plus reality was a place where she was missing something... or someone, but couldn't figure out what or who. "It's so amazing," she said. "Why last week I went to a place that one could only get to through a magical wardrobe. It was a land of eternal winter ruled by an evil witch. But then this noble Lion and these brave children... oh I don't need to say anymore. Sorry, I love to talk about the books I've read, but I try not to spoil them." She blushed a bit. Belle shook her head once more over Anna feeling bad for her clumsiness. She thought of it as a positive thing after all. "Oh don't fret about being clumsy," she said. "It's part of what makes you unique, isn't it? Sort of like how I don't pay attention to things when I start reading. Our flaws make us special just as our positive traits do. Anyway, I think you're wonderful, Anna."Belle stepped over and poured them some tea. She then looked over at her curious cat, who still watched Anna. "This is Aesop," she said. "He's very sociable. And you may pay for the book at your leisure. For now, I would love to chat if you have a bit of time. It's not often I find someone who loves books like I do." She then served Anna some tea. "I know which one you're talking about!" Anna exclaimed excitedly. "Oh, I love that book, and the rest of them as well. I've probably read the whole series three times!" She told the girl, a bright smile staying plastered on her lips. "So, yeah, no need to apologize." Anna was really glad she had met this girl, and surprised she had never talked to her before. It was a shame really.
Anna continued to smile at Belle, a feeling of comfort washing over her. The brunette was so kind and welcoming. It was nice, seeing as not everyone was like that. "Ohhh, I like you!" She told her with a clap of her hands. "You're super nice and definitely know how to make a girl feel better!" The compliments and assurance from the brunette that stood across from her definitely made her feel better.
Anna's eyes glanced over to the cat that was watching her, curtsying in response to the meeting. "Hello Aesop. Such a pleasure to meet you!" She exclaimed before sitting down across from Belle. "Okay! I would love to chat for a bit."

Belle beamed when Anna said that she had read the series Belle spoke of three times. This was too good to be true! She wondered what else the two had both read. "I've read them twice and am planning to read them again soon!" she said. "So perhaps we could talk about them then. I'd love to know what all you have read."Belle blushed when Anna said she liked her and that Belle knew how to make someone feel better. "Oh, it's really nothing at all," she said. "I'm just being honest about you. As far as I can tell, you seem a good and respectable person, and one I hope to be friends with."Aesop meowed at Anna and her curtsy, but the closest thing he gave to a bow was him laying down and watching her as she sat across from Belle. "Wonderful!" said Belle as she sat. It was nice to have someone to chat with, about books or anything else. "So what do you do in the village?" she asked. "I mean, if you don't mind me asking. I enjoy learning about other people here. It seems I don't explore this place enough to really get to know many people."ANNA ELIZABETH DELLE
