challenge: hundred word stories. If you've never heard of them there's a link, but the short version is that a Drabble is a story of (typically) 100 words. It's a writing technique that focuses on brevity in writing - trying to focus on what matters in a work. And since it's writing related I figured it'd be fun to put here for people to give a try.
Here's How It Works:
- In a second, I'm going to give a prompt. You write a Drabble-length (Title Not Included) response based on the prompt .
- When you post your response to the prompt, include a new prompt, which will become the current prompt.
- Another person comes and writes based on the current prompt, leaving their own prompt, rinse, repeat.
General things to note (in no particular order)!
- Prompts can be anything, so long as they don't otherwise break rules of the site - a word, phrase, picture, video, etc.
- Feel free to respond to past prompts if you come up with something you like. But if you do, please do not replace the current prompt - that one is valid until someone responds to it specifically.
- Barring the leader-types saying otherwise, I personally have no problem with Drabble responses that use canon characters possibly claimed by someone else for RP. Just don't expect anything you write to be incorporated by players with a character claim in their RP.
- Player-created characters should not be used in your Drabbles without the consent of the player.
Alright, nothing else I can think of - so hopefully this takes off, and folks have fun!
Example: Runaway Queen
Elsa’s feet ran across the ground, eyes wild with fear. Her dress for the coronation blowing behind her, pale blonde hair perfectly placed within its bun. From behind her she heard someone calling her name, but she didn’t care. Anna was better off without her, the whole Kingdom would be better without her. What kind of Queen would she be if she let people get hurt because of her…abilities? She wouldn’t let anyone get her. She wouldn’t let anyone fear her like the rocks had told her when she hurt Anna. She ran across the lake, it froze beneath her.
The Current Prompt Is: Falling in Love.

falling in love, There was no reason for her to feel this way about him.
She hated him. At least, she had until she hadn’t. Until the very moment that he had showed the disparages of his human kindness and revealed his hand, she had hated him.
Tania breathed in as she picked up the tiny dagger and balanced it on her fingertip. She flipped it into the air and caught it before launching it into the sketch of Buddy Pine across the room. It found its mark.
“I think I love you.”
The knife landed in his heart. new prompt:
losing someone

A Change In Design
He was responsible.
It was flashy, it had ambiance. It was a classic design. He had INVENTED the cape that everyone know associated with supers. And yet now that was all for nothing. Blood stains. You can never get blood off anything whether it is cotton or skin.
E always thought there was time to say something. To tell friends how he really felt, how close he was with the people that entered his life. He admired Supers. Yet it was because of him that they were dropping like flies. Flaws, his flaws, that he imposed upon them.
No capes.

abandonment, It was a new feeling in his heart. Not the same bubbly feeling that he got when he was around Elsa and Anna in their childhood.
Olaf’s little stick arms pressed to his abdomen as he tried to figure out where it was coming from. She had left him — all alone on the mountain and he felt…sadness?
Emptiness was closer to the feeling inside of his crystalized snow-balled body segments.
Where had she gone? She was his everything and now he had nothing. Olaf crunched through the snow on his way down the mountain side — looking for something to ease the ache. new prompt:
anger

COLD AND DARK
Of course they went together perfectly, the way that the cold and the dark both sing the song of despair in a horrific harmony. Jack could feel his skin getting colder, the prison walls were becoming comfortable around him. He was starting to feel like he belonged there. In a cold, empty and dark place. He wasn't going to cry, he promised himself he wouldn't. What had he done? He chose this path, the path of cold and dark. He had chosen to be someone Elsa couldn't... he slammed his fist against the wall and screamed at himself. She couldn't even look at him. (my anger sort of bled into regret but... they're similar, right?)

Screaming, she pulled herself from a dead sleep. His face was there, just out of reach. Floating in the oily black sea, only his face was visible. Yet she did not know whose face it was. She felt she should, she had known him. But no more. Taken from her, just like everything else. And no matter how hard she tried to remember, his essence slipped through her fingers. She ached to know him, ached to understand what he was to her. But he remained just someone she knew, once upon a dream.
