Pongo clapped wildly with the rest of the audience as the song and evening came to a close. Patrons gathered their belongings and left the small but clean tavern. Up on the stand the musicians were chatting about how the night had gone as they put away their instruments. Pongo continued to sit at his table, waiting for this best friend, Roger. He didn't mind waiting for him, he seemed to do it often enough. At least, normally he didn't mind waiting. Today was different. Pongo had met this fabulous young lady who he thought Roger would really like. Of course he may never know. Getting Roger to look at anything but a piano for longer than a minute was difficult, unless it was another instrument. But he was bound and determined that Roger would not live a single life forever. Honestly, the man didn't even know what he was missing out on. Pongo's thoughts strayed to Perdita. Maybe he didn't know what he was missing out on either. The most he had done was stay at her house to long to talk with her. He hadn't made any advances to let her know he was interested. Why? Was he too scared? Intimidated? All of the above? Whatever the reason... ah, that didn't matter right now. Roger was the key to tonight. Roger who was going to go out with a fabulous girl and show her a good time. The musicians began waving to each other, saying good bye. Pongo stood up and walked up next to the stage, leaning against the front of it. "Great show tonight." he congratulated Roger, watching as he gathered his music. "Did you have any plans after this?" He knew he probably would say something like "practicing" but that wasn't enough to stop Pongo.

Roger was really glad that he was allowed to stand in for one of the band members, it was nice to help them out but also to play music. Besides it was just a little bit of extra money to be of aid. It was also fun, while teaching the piano was fun to he just felt a bit more drawn to the band and the lyrics for the songs. He never did try to write a song since the first thing he figured out he could do when he had little idea on anything was playing the piano, so he just kept with that. It seemed tonight was a good one, everyone seemed to like the song and once people left band members the band members congratulated one another. Roger did so since everyone did deserve due credit, even if he wasn't really part of their band. Taking the sheet of music he'd been given, they told him to keep it in case they ever needed his help again if their real piano playing member was ever out of commission for a little while. Grabbing his hat and coat, he put them on and found Pongo at the edge of the stage, it seemed he always showed up. Though what could one expect from a best friend?
"Thanks, that one was a bit tricky. I didn't have much time to learn that song." Roger replied as he got down the stage. "Not really. Probably go home and get some sleep before any family members of mine show up at the house."
Had Pongo ever met his Uncle? No he hadn't. Though Roger wasn't too sure if he had mentioned the higher class man to them before. Hard to say. Roger was sure that he had told him about his Aunt though, how she was always showing up to make sure he was alright.

The balloon in his heart deflated slightly. "Family? he said with an almost whine to his voice. "Tonight? This happened every time. Pongo would find someone he thought Roger would really like, and nothing. roger would have a very good excuse to not go! Family coming into town was a good excuse. Maybe Roger was meant to be a bachelor forever, never to find someone, always alone. Pongo put his pointer finger on the bridge of his nose, pressing hard. "Family." he said again, definitive. He could never win. But come to think of it... did he even know Roger's family? No, he had never even heard him speak of them. At least not... recently. Something tickled at the back of his mind, an annoying persistent tickle, like a hair caught under a shirt. It was right there, but he couldn't get to it. His gaze turned to the ground, frustrated. But then he remembered he was having a conversation and looked back to Roger.

The whine like sound was one that Roger knew well. Perhaps he shouldn't have mentioned that? Yep shouldn't have mentioned it considering how Pongo seemed to change in behavior.
"I don't know if they're coming. My Aunt usually gives me notice and well my...other family member he..he just shows up out of nowhere and catches me off guard. So really they might or might not show up, my Aunt hasn't given me any word on her appearing so she probably won't appear." Roger explained, hoping that would help convey what he originally meant.

He stood up a little straighter. "They might not come?" He asked. "That is excellent!" Even as he said it, he realized that he was slightly too excited about it. He was supposed to be a best friend, so maybe he should act like it. "Do you need any help getting ready? I could help you know." He offered, very sincerely. He loved to help, and if he went with Roger, he could make sure he met up with this lady. Plus he could raid Roger's treat cupboard, always a plus. He umped up on stage and grathered the last few sheets of paper from the piano. "Here, let me get those for you!" He put them in Roger's hand. Then jumped off the stage and stated walking out of the building. He paused and the door, he turned back to look at Roger. @rodger

Roger shrugged.
"They might not." Roger repeated course he was confused by Pongo seeming rather pleased with this. "Um..g...getting ready for what?"
Roger watched Pongo go past him quickly and up to the piano, grabbing the few sheets that were left at the piano and soon placing them in his hand. Poor Roger just stood there confused, while grateful for the hand he was just confused as to why his friend was so excited. The mail man quickly went to toward the door and opened it, only for them to finally halt in their quick movements to look back at confused Roger.
"W...Where are we going?" Roger asked as he started to walk toward the door where Pongo was.

"You know... getting ready for your relatives. But if they might not be coming, then I have an alternative to cleaning your apartment." He said, smirking as Roger started walking toward him. He was thankful that the elusive family may not be coming. That could have spoiled his entire plan! He honestly didn't know if it would work, but there was nothing wrong with going out with someone. It was just a date, what could go wrong? "There is a party tonight. At Gaston's tavern. And.... I was thinking it could be a great place to meet some people." Pongo elbowed Roger in the side. "It could be fun!" He was so glad he had been able to come tonight, if only so that he could invite Roger to the party. He held the door open for Roger, feeling the cool breeze shift across his face.

"My apartment's fine, usually." Roger commented. "The alternative being?"
Okay Roger knew that his apartment wasn't the cleanest of ones but it still was cleaner than some. After all you at least had room to walk around in as well as a place to sit. Mainly it was the desk and piano that were covered with stuff on it or around it. Though at Pongo's words, the blonde man just stared at em as he was elbowed in the side.
"A...A party huh?" Roger repeated, a tad nervous. "Well...I...I do hope you enjoy it Pongo. I...I don't think me going is the best idea."

" Oh come on, old chap! You need to get out, and don't say you were just out. Going to the same places you always go does not count as getting out." He walked with Roger out of the club. "You could meet some new people, and maybe even a girl." he looked at Roger, raising his eye brows slightly. Roger would never go if Pongo didn't drag him there, almost literally. The man was married to his work. But it was no good for him. No sir, time to help Roger get out of his shell and into the real world!
