Once upon a time, Wendy Darling was an adventurous 12 year old little girl, her life filled with dreams and stories, stories that she would tell her younger siblings. Her vivid imagination and praise from her brothers, John and Michael is what sparked the fire within her father to look down on his eldest daughter and try to ruin her dreams and get her to grow up. But Wendy was rebellious, she didn’t want to grow up and because of her father’s threatening words and desires to have her abandon that childhood within her to prepare for the life of an adult, Wendy grew terrified of growing up and the stories she told of Peter Pan and the life within Neverland is what comfort her. But soon, her stories became reality and once finding herself in Neverland and in the arms of Peter pan, Wendy found herself beginning to mature, she was beginning to grow up. Wendy became a very prominent mother figure to the Lost Boys, her brothers and even Peter Pan himself. She began to accept her fate of one day growing up but she never lost her adventurous nature or let this destroy her wondrous imagination that grew within her.

Once upon a time, born into a wealthy family in the prosperous city of Bloomsbury, England was a young woman named Wendy Angela Darling. This young woman was the beloved daughter of both Mary and George Darling, a high up family in the England Society. But she wasn’t the only child to come from the Darling line, only four years later was born to the family a young boy in which they named John and then only four years after the birth of John came another son in which the family named Michael. At the age of only eight, Wendy showed that she was very imaginative, coming up with stories within her mind and telling them to her siblings. After they were all tucked into bed, Wendy and the boys would cuddle together in the Nursery, Nana by their side and she would tell those stories, stories of the famous boy named Peter Pan and his reign over a place in which she named Neverland. As a few years past, her stories gained so much praise from her siblings that her father learns of these stories and she disciplines here. At only the age of twelve, her father tells her it is her last night in the nursery and that it was time for her to grow up, this of course had been going on for some time now, but Wendy’s rebellious nature never listened to her father’s words.

As the night grows to a close, Wendy tells her mother the fear of growing up but her mother only tells her that it is what has to happen, that sooner or later Wendy will have to grow up, to become a woman, a wife and a mother and with those words she goes to close the window but Wendy tells her not to lock it because she has Peter’s shadow, something he will surely want back. And she was right, later within the night Wendy is awoken by Peter Pan as he tries to reattach his shadow with a bar of soap, and of course the shadow was not going back so she offered to sew it back on for him and that was when Peter learns that she has to “grow up” the next day. In the heat of the moment, Peter offers to take her away to Neverland so she would never have to grow up, offering her a place as mother to the boys that live there, in gratitude Wendy tries to kiss Peter but a jealous Tinkerbell pulls her hair and thus pulling Wendy away. Peter comes to her aid and goes to take her away but she pleads that she should be allowed to take her brothers, and reluctantly Peter agrees and the three of them prepare to leave with Peter who then teaches them to fly as each think happy thoughts and jump from their bed, Peter sprinkles them with pixie dust and off they fly to Neverland.

The second star to the right and straight onto morning, that is where they fly to and when they reach Neverland they are attacked by Captain Hook, but as Peter stays to fight the pirate he sends Tinkerbell off with Wendy and the brothers to take them to safety, but she in a jealous fit leaves the three behind but by the time Wendy finally catches up she is shot from the sky, but it doesn’t hit her and she falls towards the ground but is saved by Peter. Because they tried to shot Wendy down, Peter scolds the boys and then introduces Wendy as their new mother, in which they rejoice before Peter takes Wendy away to meet the mermaids. However, the mermaids start teasing young Wendy and attempt to drown her but then everyone is forced to hide when Hook passes by. Peter and Wendy then follow Hook to Skull Rock where they discover that the pirate had captured Tiger Lily, the Indian Princess. Wendy watches as Peter saves Tiger Lily and defeats Hook, but is left behind by Peter when he flies off with Tiger Lily thus making her have to try and keep up with him. The boys and Wendy are all invited to attend a celebration at the Indian encampment in honor of Peter’s rescue of Tiger Lily, but Wendy isn’t allowed to join the festivities and instead put to work gathering firewood. Upon returning with the wood, Wendy leaves in a huff when she sees Tiger Lily with Peter and leaves behind the celebrations and goes back to the hideout in which Peter stays. She had decided to return home with her brothers in the morning and this angers Peter, but Wendy is just ready to return to her life and upon talking to her brothers it is then that she realizes they forget what home is like and what their own mother is like and thus Wendy begins to sing to her brothers. The song, sung in Wendy’s sweet voice, triggers the Lost Boys into wanting to return with the Darlings to their home in England.

As they go to leave, Wendy and the boys are captured by Hook. Wendy remains faithful that Peter will save them, until Hook reveals that he has placed a bomb in the hideout. Hook gives the children the option of joining his crew, but they refuse. He then forces Wendy to walk the plank. As she drops, she is rescued in secret by Peter, who had been saved from the bomb by Tinker Bell. Peter frees Wendy and the boys, and Wendy watches them as they take on Hook. Hook is defeated and after the battle, Peter reveals that he will take the Darlings back to London and uses Tinkerbell’s pixie dust to make Hook’s ship fly. Wendy happily announces that she is ready to grow up, but her father reveals that he has changed his mind and that Wendy can stay in the nursery. George then notices a ship made of clouds sailing across the moon, and realizes that he saw it when he was young. The three, George, Mary and Wendy watch the pirate ship from the window, and soon it is gone.

As time goes on, the three children of the Darlings continue to grow and grow and soon Wendy is moved from the Nursery to a room of her own, it is in this time that Wendy catches the eye of a man, one that begins to court her. Wendy and Edward soon fall in love and at the age of twenty-two he proposes, but before they can actually get married a curse rips through and rips Wendy from the man she loves and leaves her in the arms of Wonderland, it is here that she forgets who she is truly. It is in the land of Wonderland where Wendy wakes up, the younger sister of Kit Princeton and she lives her life just as she did when she was younger before she agreed to grow up, she is still the adventurous and rebellious young woman she was once upon a time.
