[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] STARS ABOVE US [attr="class","next"] Kit looked up into the sun, trying to adjust his eyes to the strange lighting of the sort of ball of fire that had perched itself at high noon. It had been five months — five months to the day — since he had gotten here. Since they all had. Five months spent doing just this. They had tried to create something from nothing and so far, he couldn’t be more proud. Kit threw his shovel back into the dirt and threw it behind him as he dug the hole. He wasn’t sure how it had happened at the very beginning, but he had ended up at the helm of the village. Kit was the one who was calling the shots and making the decisions. Where to build, when to gather food, when to cook. The man reached up and drug his hand across his forehead, wiping away some of the sweat that was upon his brow. The hole that he was standing in front of was nearly a half a foot deep now and he slammed the shovel into the ground next to him. From his pocket he retrieved two tiny seeds from apples that they had collected in the forest. Kit buried them into the ground before using his hands to draw the dirt around them and refill the hole. Satisfied, he grabbed the small bucket of water that was next to him and sprinkled some of it onto the ground. Kit was a kind mad — a man who truly cared for the people that he had met in the village so far. He was a man who wanted to guarantee their success. Perhaps that was the reason that he had been chosen as their leader. The orchard was nearly done thanks to the citizens of the village. They had planted at least twenty trees within the past three days and soon they would have a grove big enough to provide fruit for the entire season. Things grew uncommonly quickly here, he had noticed. With a grin he grabbed the shovel and threw it over his shoulder right as a rain drop hit his nose.
“Isn't this just so,” He said as he held out his open palm to the rain. It was pouring in no time, drenching him almost completely as he ran through the sheets of rain. He made it to the village the ducked under one of the nearest shelters, leaning up against the wood planked door as he watched the rain soak his beautiful little kingdom.

i will sing a song about love
the moon knows my heart
Her gentle hand reached below, pulling an herb from the ground in which it grew. Smiling to herself, Clarissa knew she had found the one she had been looking for, as she was worried it might not be produced in the strange land they were in. Only months ago the people had been brought to Wonderland, memories left in the past. Some took it in stride, while others panicked and searched frantically for answers. Clarissa had been one to take it as it was, and not worry too much. She did not see the good in wasting her time worrying about something she could not control. However, she also did not judge those who were in a panic about the ordeal. After all, they were all confused, and had no understanding of what could possibly be happening. The young blonde was one to lend a hand to those in need, as well as a listening ear. Seeing people happy was one of the things that kept her going each day. She journeyed the woods only a few paces more, trying to see if she could find anything else of importance. Feeling as though it was probably best to turn back, she pushed the herbs gently into the satchel resting on her hip, the strap strung across her shoulder. Her feet carried her in a slow walk, her eyes taking in her surroundings, even if she had seen them many times before. The world in which they lived was a beautiful one, despite the loss of memories and the fear that dangers lurked about. Clarissa, like everyone else, wanted to know what her past had been and why she was there, but she was happy where she was; content even. Most that she had come in contact with had been most pleasant. Upon reaching the border between the wood and the village, a smile crossed her features, lighting up her eyes. It was her home; at least for now. As she continued on her path back to her quaint little house, a few drops of rain began to spill from the clouds. Still, she kept her smile. Rain was just water and never hurt anyone. It began to poor within seconds, soaking her from head to toe. It was then that she started to run, her feet carrying her swiftly across the village floor. Seeing shelter only a few more feet away, she kept going, keeping her sites on it. Her first instinct was to get inside, which led her to running into a man standing in the doorway, knocking her back just a bit. Unlike the usual girl who grew embarrassed in such a situation, Clarissa laughed lightly, fixing herself before her eyes met his. "I apologize, sir. Did I hurt you?" |

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] STARS ABOVE US [attr="class","next"] He didn’t have time to move. Kit hadn’t seen her before it was too late — before she was crashing into him standing in the doorway, looking like a fool. She must have been trying to get inside. Momentarily stunned, he spoke words in a jumble which was odd for the man that was so typically well-spoken and diplomatic, “Are you alri—don’t I’m terribly—I—“ She stopped him with her own apology and her own questioning of if he was alright. Was he? He still felt dazed. It was only then that Kit actually looked at her — the girl that had practically fallen into him on that fatefully rainy day. Her eyes met his and for a moment, Kit felt as if he had been lost until that moment. A beautiful creature. Her hair, light as gold, her eyes bright and thoughtful, a smile was still on her face despite the fact that she had quite. Kit thought surely if there was something that he had been missing that he had found it in that moment. Was there a need for sunshine when she was standing there in front of him? This version of the sun, this woman that seemed to illuminate the street despite the fact that the sky was dark and the clouds were consuming. She was laughing and it was…enchanting “I’m fine, Miss. I’m fine and you? I hope I haven’t done you too much damage,” He reached out for her hand, pulling her into the shelter of the overhanging to keep her out of the rain. He felt a grin on his own lips, “I’ve never seen someone so excited to be standing out in the rain.” He recognized her — how could he not? He was the leader of their little community and he had been with the same few people for five months. By now they had come to know each other, at least moderately. Her name escaped him — like the ethereal wings of an angel it slipped from his grasp every time he tried to remember who she was. The one with the herbs. It occurred to him when he noticed the satchel that sat on her hip. Kit’s hand seemed to have developed a mind of its own, reaching up to brush away some of her rain stained strands of hair away from her face, “Is this your house?” He asked, immediately pulling his hand away and running his hand through his hair, pushing it away from his own face.

i will sing a song about love Him stumbling over his words had to be one of the most adorable things she had seen in quite some time. Here he was, the community leader - one of the best speakers in the village, trying to find the right words to say after an innocent run in. But of course, the most important part was the fact that neither of them were hurt. Clarissa shook her head, not even worried about the questions he was trying to ask her. She knew what they were, but there was no need for them to be asked. The young blonde was alive and breathing. No harm had come from the incident, and she was extremely happy for that. Clarissa studied him, taking in his features. She had known of him for a few months now, but never had she been close enough to truly get a good look at him. He was handsome, with eyes blue like the ocean and a smile that made her heart skip a beat. It was an odd sort of feeling that she thought she had known once before; maybe in the past that she no longer remembered. However, there was something about it that both excited and intrigued her. Never had she looked at a man in their new life and felt so drawn to them. "I am most glad to hear that you are alright." She answered him, smiling at his concern. "Oh, yes, I'm perfectly fine. It was just a bump. I apologize again for being the cause of such a bump though." She said, looking up at the sky as the rain continued to hit her cheeks gently. Her glance immediately returned to him though and then down to her hand in his as he pulled her inside and out of the rain. Hearing his next words, she only shrugged nonchalantly, a light shade of pink coloring her cheeks from the unexpected contact. "A little rain never hurts. After all, it's what brings the earth life, is it not?" She told him with a warm smile as she patted her satchel holding herbs from the very earth she spoke of. For a man who was only just stumbling over his words, he had a confidence about him that she admired. The soft brush of his fingers on her face only made the pink shade grow darker as her heart sped up. For a moment, it was like she was in another world as she stood still as a statue, staring at the man before her. Never had she ever been this caught off guard before. Part of her felt an excitement that she wanted to explore even more. Her thoughts might have done so, but his words pulled her back to reality. "Oh - um - y-yes, actually. It is." She nodded as she stepped away from him and pulled the strap of the satchel over her head, setting it down on the seat closest to her. "I'm Clarissa, by the way. You're Mr. Princeton, correct?"

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] STARS ABOVE US [attr="class","next"]She wasn’t hurt. He was happy that she could figure out what he was trying to say behind his mess of words. He was normally so well spoken, it felt strange to be caught off guard like this…but there was something about the girl in front of him that had managed to fry his brain almost completely. Kit felt a certain amount of relief flooding through his veins as he looked at her shaking her head. She was beautiful — even soaked in the rain and standing before him as the victim of both of their nearly cracking heads — she was beautiful. “I’m glad you’re alright as well—” He managed to say, but he had interjected to soon, as she was still talking. He cursed himself internally. How was he butchering this so completely? Her smile seemed to light up the darkness of the storm outside and he wondered how he could have been missing it for the past five months. It was brilliant and bright, like something that he seemed to have imagined in a dream. He smiled too, unable to keep it down any longer. Something about her had him all out of sorts and he almost enjoyed it. There was an out of control feeling that he got for the few moments that he had known her and there was a part of him that didn’t want it to go away, "Forgive me for standing in your doorway. It must seem odd."He wanted to touch her face again — her skin was like silk. He wondered if her lips felt the same, but quickly pushed the thought from his mind. It wasn’t right of him to think something like that about a woman that he had just met. No, he would treat her with respect because that was what she deserved. But he couldn’t help but address the curiosity that brewed inside him. Had he known her before? Had they met before they had lost their memories? “It’s lovely.” He commented as he looked up at the small house. It was beautifully crafted and seemed to fit her, although he was confused as to why she wanted to live on the outskirts of town. Was she a recluse? She hardly looked the part, he thought as his eyes followed her hands placing the satchel onto the bench that was beneath the overhanging. Clarissa. It was just as beautiful as what he could have imagined. It fit her — light and melodic, like something that an angel could perhaps be named. Kit found himself wondering if that was what she was: an angel. He realized that he was staring and she had addressed him by his very proper name. “Kit. Mr. Princeton is what people call me when they’re cross about something in the village,” He always pressed for his christian name when he was being friendly with people. He ran his hand through his wet hair again, trying to get it to lay quite right on top of his head. It was a mess by now, sticking out in different directions — not like the normal, carefully styled and collected look that he preferred, “Were you out collecting flowers?” He asked, unsure of what to say next.

i will sing a song about love He was kind, unlike some she had met around Wonderland. Not that he was the only one to be kind to her, but there was something different about him. It was not only in the brief actions, but in his words, and even in his eyes. His whole presence so far embodied nothing but such a trait as kindness. It was a trait that completely made Clarissa relax and trust. Maybe to quickly, but trust she did. How could she not when he was their fearless leader; the one to speak up when everyone else had no idea what to do in the moment of arrival. His strength and compassion was something to admire. Clarissa smiled, despite the sudden interruption of her speech. It was easy to tell it was not intentional by the slight panic in his eyes. It was precious, actually, the way he kept messing up as he spoke to her. She would have never expected it with the strong speech he usually shared with the village. But she enjoyed seeing this side of him, because it made him vulnerable and real. He wasn't just a leader and the one people went to for permission or other things pertaining to the village. He was just like them, and she loved that about him. "There is nothing to forgive. I would never have expected someone to be standing in my doorway, but I do not mind in such a state of weather."
Her light eyes glanced about the empty place that usually just held one. Clarissa lived alone, even if it was not the ideal situation for her. However, the placing of her home was, because it was close to the woods that possessed the plants that held her interest. "Thank you." She told him sincerely. "It's not much, but it's enough and it's in the perfect place for what I do." She almost missed his hand upon her cheek. It took all she had to remind herself that she didn't truly know the man as much as she wanted to. But, he was different. She felt something she never had before. At least, not that she remembered. What if she had loved another in her past life? It was all so confusing and tended to make her cautious about who she spent her time with. Clarissa wanted to stay in that moment and forget about everything else. However, that could not be done. "Alright, Mr. Kit." She addressed him, still being proper about it, just using his first name instead. Her eyes lit up playfully as she smiled at him, allowing herself to take in every feature as she stood only inches from the man. Noticing him playing with his hair, she stepped closer to him. "Here, let me help you." Her hand rose from her side, gently running her fingers through his hair as he asked her a question of what she was doing. "Do I look like a woman that would simply pick flowers, Mr. Kit?" She teased lightly as she continued to fiddle with his hair. "I was collecting herbs - plants that can be used to help heal, as well as many other things." She took a step back, admiring what she was able to do with the hair messed up by the rain. Thinking for a moment, she soon perked up in embarrassment. She had been so caught up in, well, him that she didn't even think about showing good hospitality. "Oh, where are my manners? Can I get you anything? A towel perhaps, or something to eat or drink?"KIT THADDEUS PRINCETONnotes: gah! i'm in love <3 template by malin @ adoxography

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] STARS ABOVE US [attr="class","next"] Kit found himself smiling more than he normally did — a gentle smile that reached the very crinkles around his eyes and lifted his spirits. He found happiness in the village, in his sister, in his job, but this was something different entirely. Clarissa’s voice was singsongy, her laugh breathless and her heart seemingly so pure. “Snuck up on us, didn’t it? It’s rather—“ He had been about to say that it was rather wet out, but it seemed rather self-explanatory considering it was raining. What was it about her that made the normally well-spoken man practically fall into adorable pieces at her feet? “Wet.” He shook his head, putting his hand behind his neck as he sheepishly tried to hide the blush that was on his cheeks. It was very unlike him to act as such in the presence of a woman — regardless of where he was. Normally he was so collected! His eyes drifted up again, meeting her soft and gentle ones and he was lost. He could have been a puddle on the floor. Was there a need for sunlight when she stood in front of him? Kit couldn’t stop smiling — like a kid in a candy shop with a thousand quarters to spend on anything he pleased. But the only thing Kit was really after was to hear her laugh again. He briefly wondered if she lived there all alone, then decided it was a rather indecent thought. He couldn’t just ask something like that. It wasn’t for immoral reasons that the thought crossed his mind — but for the sheer question of her protection. She was on the edge of town and if she indeed did live alone, he would have to make sure the WPA’s night watch made sure to extend their circles to cover her home. He wasn’t sure he would be able to forgive himself if something happened to the woman in front of him. He smiled when she gave him his proper name — it was all that he could do. She stepped in, her hand fixing the pieces of hair that he seemed to have missed, “Thank you, Miss Clarissa.” He said with a laugh as he reached up and brushed his hands against hers as the pair of them tried to tame his now curling dark red hair. “So you’re rather like a nurse, then?” He asked, his eyes closing momentarily as she rearranged his hair in the way that she saw fit, “More resourceful than that if you can turn the plants of Wonderland into medicine.” And then her hands were gone — busy moving on to something else and Kit was…disappointed? He really shouldn’t have been. As she offered him hospitality, Kit leaned out from the overhanging to take a look at the sky. The rain didn’t show any signs of stopping and the dark clouds seemed to extend all the way over Wonderland, putting them in a dark casing for the rest of the afternoon. He wouldn’t get any more work done in the fields, “I could stand a towel if it's not too much trouble.” Kit said as he looked down at his water logged shoes. He wouldn’t mind kicking them off by the fire if she offered, but he certainly wasn’t going to invite himself inside. “I can wait here if it would make you more comfortable, Miss.” He said, tipping an imaginary hat with a wink.

i will sing a song about love Her smile would not cease, as her eyes glanced upon the man before her. Clarissa was enchanted by him and intrigued about his life outside of being their leader. He was obviously different in certain situations, with different people. However, wasn't everyone? It seemed that everyone wore a different face and personality depending on the people that surrounded them. Clarissa tried to be herself around anyone who crossed her path, but sometimes traits would involuntarily appear that seemed to comfort her throughout each individual scenario. Not with him though. She could be herself; she felt it in her heart and mind. "It did." Clarissa answered him, stopping shortly though to wait for the rest of his sentence. She paused as he did, feeling like she knew what he was about to say, and then he did so. A light laugh escaped her lips shortly after. He seemed so distraught from using such an obvious word. Honestly, if her mouth were to speak the same sentence as what he produced, she probably would have chosen the same. "Yes, it is very... wet outside." Her playful eyes met his again; the eyes that could easily make her get lost just by staring into them. Clarissa wondered if he felt the same heart beats and rush of nervousness that she did being around him. It was something that kept her on edge and confused her. How could she feel such things on a first meeting? Was love at first sight real? She never thought she would believe in such a thing, but perhaps, he was changing her mind. "You are most welcome, love." The brush of his hands against her sent tingles through her skin. For a moment, her mind traveled to his lips, wondering how she would feel if they met hers, if only his touch could do what it did. But she stopped herself as quickly as she possibly could. Was it wrong for her to be thinking of such an act? His question brought her even further to the surface, and back to reality. "Yes, like a nurse." She replied with a smile. "Thank you kind sir. I hope I am resourceful to those around Wonderland. I feel as though it is my calling to protect those who cannot protect themselves." Clarissa then removed her hands from his hair, a twinge of disappointment striking her after. It was like she wanted to continue touching him. Maybe just for the feeling she didn't have so often living alone, or perhaps it was because she indeed, liked him. Her blue eyes watched as he leaned out, looking out at the rain. Clarissa studied him, watching his movements, or better yet, how he moved. He moved like any other man, but with grace and confidence. He was beautiful standing there in her doorway. It seemed that she could not have been happier with how the day was playing out. "Oh yes, I will go grab one for you. And please, make yourself at home. I wish I had some clothes for you, but I don't think mine would fit and I don't have anyone living with me." Her smile appeared across her pink lips once more before she moved away and disappeared around the corner. It didn't take her long before she returned with a couple towels. One, she handed to him, and the other, she would drape around her shoulders, but it seemed she would not get that far. As she moved closer to him, her foot caught and she tripped forward into him, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck to hold herself up. "I- oh.. um - I'm terribly sorry." Still, she did not move as her eyes peered up into his. She was frozen in place, holding on to the man before her. [googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] STARS ABOVE US [attr="class","next"]Unattached? He briefly considered just blurting it out, but when she said that she was living alone, well, that certainly answered that question. Kit found himself smiling about the revelation, perhaps more so than he should have been. “Does…the WPA make regular rounds all the way out here?” He asked, but she had already disappeared around the corner. “I mean…” He wasn’t sure she could even hear him, but he continued his conversation. “I only mean to suggest that if they don’t they should. It’s not the safest on the outskirts of the village.” He looked around before grabbing the knees of his jeans and taking a seat on the little window seat that overlooked the front of the cottage. “Though, I’m sure you haven’t had trouble.” He was rambling, losing his grace and eloquent way of speaking. “You seem like a woman who knows how to take care of herself.” Kit cursed himself for saying that — it seemed like such a childlike thing to say at a time like this. He forced himself to think on other things — like the architecture of the ceiling. It was a beautiful home — but perhaps not as beautiful as the woman who occupied it, Kit thought. Clarissa was back almost instantaneously, but she tripped, falling into his lap. He instantly had his hand around her waist, trying to steady her, though she was probably already steady seeing as she was in his lap. “No…” She was apologizing and there was no reason for such things. “No, please, don’t be…Don't be sorry, it's not a big deal. Not really.” He found that he hadn’t let go. His fingertips still twitching ever so slightly as his mind tried to figure out what to do with her. “Thank you.” He said with a cheeky grin, but realized she probably had no idea what she was talking about. “The towels, thank you for the towels.” Releasing his grasp on her, he used the towel to dry off his damp face and then brushed it into his dark red hair. “I…I should probably get going.” He said aloud, though he didn’t want to go. He wanted to stay and get to know the woman sitting on top of him quite a good deal better. His eyes ventured to the window as the rain seemed to trickle to a stop. It was imperfect timing for he knew that there was more that he wanted to learn about Clarissa, but at the same time, there was more that he needed to do in the village. "The rain looks like it's finally quit."
