(Prince Charming's Castle)
So this was the end? Evelyn sat in her cell, one protected from her dark magic. Charming and Snow had won and her reign and ended. She had been captured and it had been decreed that she was to be executed for her many crimes. The hearts of her enemies were pure, but the hard fact was that no one was safe until the Queen was gone. She honestly didn't blame them for thinking that way. She was well aware of what she had done.
One would think that the Queen would be standing in her cell and spouting off curses at anyone who past. One would think she would be scheming to escape death. But she was doing neither. She was just sitting there, staring at the wall. Something was on her mind though. A distant memory. She didn't know why it came to her, but it did. A look of sadness overcame her face, one that made her not look... well evil.
A guard walked in with food and water. This was to be the Queen's last meal. She barely glanced at the guard or the plate as he placed it on the table. She expected him to walk away after that, but he didn't... at least not for a moment.
"The princess wishes to speak to you," he said.
"Do I have a choice?" said the Queen with little emotion. The guard just nodded and left to allow Snow to come in.

"I have to try." Snow white said as she looked at the man who was to be the future King. "I know there is something more than just evil." Snow walked around in her bedroom. She had seen the Queen happy once before, before her father had died. Perhaps it was a trick but she could see something in the woman that she wanted to be true. "Snow, please she is nothing but evil, she will trick you." Snow turned to the man who was sitting and watching her. "She is still my mother, we might not be that close but still. I'm going to do this." the man smiled and nodded. "Alright, but be safe." The woman walked out of the room and made her way towards the Jail Cells.
"Killian will you please tell the Evil Queen I wish to speak with her." Snow asked the Gaurd who was watching the Queen. He nodded and also to her dinner. When he returned she took his place and walked in to the Cell. "Hello Evelyn." The girl smiled at her. She wasn't sure how to start the conversation. She wanted to know why, she wanted to know so much. She really didn't want to kill the queen, they were family after all. Yes Snow was mad at her but killing was one thing she didn't really want to do.

Well this was going to be interesting. Her sweet stepdaughter was going to have a pre-execution chit-chat with her. After all the hell she put the girl through, killing her parents, nearly killing her, and the girl wanted to speak to her. Evelyn wondered what there was left for Snow to say. She had her damned happy ending, and the Queen was to be no more. Why not rest a bit before she watched the Queen meet her end.
Still, part of Evenlyn wanted to hear what she had to say. Part of her even wanted to have a talk with Snow. They never really had a "mother/daughter" chat after all. Perhaps it would be a captivating experience. Perhaps it would be the last thrill the wicked prisoner had. Perhaps Snow was going to offer Evelyn a way out. If not, Evelyn wasn't going to beg for one.
She looked at Snow with empty eyes as the girl walked in and greeted her.
"I never thought this would be our final confrontation," she said. "A cozy little chat? Perhaps over dinner? This was quite a last meal you had the guard serve me. My prisoners were lucky to have stale bread and warm water." Regardless, Evelyn didn't touch her food. What did it matter if her stomach was filled or not when the time came?

When the queen said the words final confrontation Snow grew sad, she didn't want to do what was going to happen, she didn't really want to kill anyone but that is what the kingdom wanted. Snow was dreading the day she would end a life.
"I would like to talk to you about us. about what made us like this." Snow wondered why the queen would only feed her prisoners stale bread, that was very mean, but she guessed that was because she was known as the "Evil" Queen. Snow would get anything the queen wanted and made sure she was in comfort while she was in prison.
The princess then sad on the bunk across from her and watched the woman closely. Snow was nervous about asking her questions, she had so many of them and wanted to ask them all but she didn't want to push her luck with the woman. Some how Snow wished that she could help the woman, she wanted so much to be able to have the mother figure she was unable to have growing up, She just hoped that the woman would understand.

The Queen became more hungry as she continued to eye the food. Bloody hell why did it have to look so good? The fruit, the cheese, the warm bread, and the wine, truly a fitting last meal. She finally gave in and ate a grape. It was very sweet and she found herself savoring it. Was this food here because Snow did care for her? Or did the kitchen staff make it to mock her, letting her know she wouldn't dine like this again. What did it matter? She continued to eat as Snow spoke to her.
Snow wanted to talk about them. The Queen expected that. Some last effort to make peace between them. That wouldn't happen. However, Snow also wanted to speak about how this all came to be. Now that was interesting, and worthy of some final conversation. Perhaps some secrets could be revealed, secrets that would no longer matter to Evelyn as she was about to die. But the secrets could sting Snow for the rest of her life. Not a bad final thought for Evelyn before Snow met her end.
"Very well," she said. "Let us talk about how things have come to happen as they have. What would you like to know, my dear? Why I'm so wicked and nasty? Was there a time when I was a good little girl like you? Hmmm? Because there was..."

Snow Watched the woman eat a grape and the girl smiled, she really did like the queen no matter how evil she was, Snow always wanted the best for the queen and the people of her kingdom. She would do anything to make her Kingdom happy and well the kingdom was not happy with the Evil Queen.
As Evelyn started to speak Snow listened, Snow was a really good listener after all. It was a talent she was born with, she listened to the city people, she listened to her Prince, and she would always be an open ear for Evelyn. No matter what she would always be there for Evelyn even if the two were not friends, or even close. Snow just loved everyone and she wanted everyone to feel like they could talk to her.
The woman was about to tell her the secrets, the answers she always wanted. This was something Snow had looked forward to for a long time. Thankfully nothing was going to interrupt this moment, or so she hoped, she knew that the prince would not interrupt the talk and she hoped the guards would not either.

Snow looked like she was going to give Evelyn her full attention, so the former Queen went ahead and began from the start. After all, she needed to pass the time before her own time passed. Sipping from her cup, she sighed and began.
"I didn't start out... evil, but my family was," she said. "On the outside they were respected nobles. Behind the scenes, they played with dark magic and taught me to do the same. I almost fell to darkness immediately, but then something interesting happened... I fell in love." She stopped for a moment to see if Snow would actually believe that. Knowing how much the girl believed in true love, she probably would.
"Daniel was our stable boy," she continued. "He was good-hearted boy who was genuinely kind to me. He wasn't like our other servants, who treated me well because they had to. He taught me how to be kind. He made me hate the wickedness of my family. We planned to run away together..."
She then sighed. There was regret in her eyes then. She almost appeared like a different woman.
"Then, my parents made me believe that Daniel had betrayed our love, that he only wanted my money. They arranged a deception and Daniel was arrested. It was only years later that I found out about the deception. My parents revealed it to me before they mysteriously died. By then I was too cold-hearted to allow it to sway me. By then I was plotting to... well you know the rest. So as you've just heard, my dear Snow, I was once a little dear like yourself." Well almost the rest. As far as Evelyn knew, Snow didn't know just how her parents were killed.

Snow listened to the first part. She stated she didn't start out evil and Snow believed that, she had seen something in her eyes a long time ago that told her that, but she never believed that the woman would tell her that. What really got snow was that she had fallen in love, this caused snow to smile brightly. The girl was a strong believer in True love, and knew that everyone always had their true love, no matter what. Yet as she continued the story it kept getting sadder and sadder.
This made Snow frown. The man Evelyn loved was taken from her, she never saw him after that and then she was lied to by her family. Snow knew about lies and she didn't like them. She didn't want to keep them and she didn't want to have them around her. Snow White felt remorse for the woman, and wished she could help.
"I'm sorry you had to go though that. It must have been so horrible." Snow wanted to comfort the woman but she knew better, she knew Evelyn wouldn't like it to much so she just sat.
She then looked down at the floor, she wanted to know what happen to her parents, she wondered if Evelyn had known something she did not. She also wanted to know why she had treated her the way she did, but one question at a time.
"Do you know what happen to my parents?" She asked looking up at the woman with her cute innocent eyes..

Evelyn simply gave a small smile and nodded when Snow spoke of how sorry she was that her stepmother went through that. Evelyn didn't want or need the pity, but it was admittedly nice of Snow to say so. And that Snow... always so damned nice.
"I suppose it was to be my fate... to not find happiness... to be a child of dark magic forever," she said. "After all, one cannot ask for the family one is born into. I wish I could say that not having my 'Happy Ever After' has benefited me, and perhaps for a while it did... but now here we are."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow as Snow asked about what had happened to her parents. Well this was going to be interesting. With her about to die anyway and all, should she just tell Snow? Would it make any difference? Well, perhaps it would make it all the sweeter for Snow to watch her die, and... well... Evelyn didn't really want that. So... she would tell some half-truths.
"From what I was told, your mother was involved into a rather terrible incident in the woods regarding her carriage and a cliff," she said. Evelyn left out the past where Snow's mother drank the glass of cider made from cursed apples, apples that caused those who consumed them a horrible death at some point later on in order for the murder not to be traced back to the murderer. "And for your father, he had a tragic fall off the balcony. I suppose you must believe that I did this... but look at me and remember how strong your father was." Another half-truth... Evelyn had the huntsman push him.
A guard then walked in.
"Your majesty," he said to Snow. "It's time."
"Well what are we waiting for?" said Evelyn. "Might as well not dawdle."

Snow listened to the woman speak, she believed her, every word she spoke, After all, Snow didn't want to see the woman as an evil person, She was just misguided. When the guard came into the room Snow looked up at him. Did she really want to kill the woman, didn't that go against everything she was brought up to be. She didn't want to hurt anyone, she had a hero with a pure heart.
"Oh, right." she looked at Evelyn did things have to end like this. Couldn't she just help the woman, couldn't she just help Evelyn not be evil? Was it right to want to change someone even if it was good for every ones best interest. Snow decided it was best to give the woman a chance, one last chance, one last moment to change.
"Evelyn, It doesn't have to end this way. We can find that happy ending for you. You just have to open your heart." Snow said giving the woman the chance to change it all.

Evelyn looked deep into Snow White's eyes. A smile then formed on her face... and almost genuine one.
"You really would give me another chance... after all I've done to you?" she asked. "How noble of you." Evelyn sighed. "However, as tempting as that sounds, what must be done must be done. I wouldn't have it any other way." She then followed the guards to the middle courtyard, where the execution would take place.
As she stood and prepared for her end, a holy man present asked if she had any final requests. She looked over at the man and smiled.
"Oh indeed," she said. "By the old laws, the condemned is free to choose who his... or in my case her executioner is... pending it is someone the condemned had wronged. I choose to take advantage of this final freedom. Therefore, the one I choose to carry out my death will be none other than... Snow White." She turned and looked Snow dead in the eyes and gave the same pleasant smile as she had earlier... only there was hidden malice behind it. "And I do hope she finds some peace in finally disposing of the one who wronged her so much." She then nodded to Snow. "Well, my dear, what are you waiting for?"
