you take nothing but the best when you're footloose and collar-free Dan whistled a happy little tune and wandered down the street, meandering, taking his time. He was in no rush tonight; he had time to stop and smell the midnight roses. Figuratively, of course. Really it was more like take in the atmosphere of the night. Though the silence and peace of the darkness wouldn't last forever, it still had a long, long way to go. Though not as long as the four cases of beer in his hands. No, those were destined for two stomachs very, very soon. His, and Atwell Easter's, to be more exact. It really wasn't that long ago, but they had met somewhere Dan couldn't remember now; the two had similar laid-back personalities and were incredibly friendly in general. Several times since then, Daniel had been to Atwell's house in order to let off some steam or just talk. Also a few drinks were always welcome. They were always on him, since he was the one just showing up out of the blue, and he didn't have a real house let alone a place to crash every night. Would he ever get tired of living like a rogue? Perhaps. Or perhaps not. He was content with it right now as it was, especially now as someone had warmed back up to him and were letting him sleep on their couch again.
Anyway, he got to Atwell's door, and after hesitating for only a brief second, knocked. Hopefully he would be there; really at the moment he just needed a friend to share a good time and be a macho man with. | | | I always seem to deliver a thread starter the day after I promise it o.o |

| Atwell didn't have much of a social life outside of the school. He spent all of his free time with his daughter or with his girlfriend and barely had time to spare to work out. He didn't realize how much work it was to be a father but he was more than happy that he became one. Today he said goodnight to his daughter and proceeded down the stairs to clean up.
The dining room table was still covered in paint containers and brushes. It was too late in the night for him to make Sophie clean it so he had her take a bath and head to bed. Atwell didn't mind cleaning up the paints, especially since a lot of the mess was his. Sophie was rather good at keep her work station clean but Atwell wasn't as gracious. He was almost done when he heard a knock at the door.
It was obvious that it wasn't Tania - that woman never knocked. Atwell assumed it was a friend, he was betting it was Daniel at this time of night. He dumped the container of brown paint water in the sink, grabbed a towel and headed to the door. Without looking through the peephole and swung open the door to see Daniel outside.
"Ay, mate!" Atwell wiped his hands on the small towel as his eyes diverted to the case of beers in Daniel's hand. "Ooohho, good timin'. I could go for a cold one. Com'on in!"
