“Dear Miguel, they say friends are the family we get to choose…BAH! No, that’s horrible. That’s cheesy and horrible.” Tulio grabbed his quill and dipped it back into the ink well as he prepared to write again. “Miguel, my best friend…I am leaving. No, god no that’s so dramatic. Miguel —” That was certainly not the right way to tell your best friend of more than twenty years that you were going out to target another mark, was it? Tulio stood up and walked to the top of the stairs. “I’m going out gambling…do you want to come?” There, it was as simple as that. No need to write a fifteen page long love letter to his best friend, was there?[break][break]
And so begins the story of Tulio and Miguel…or Miguel and Tulio. Gods among men. Tulio himself, was a boy born of a poor beggar woman and an unknown father. Many speculated his father was one of the soldiers who had stowed away from France before the war, but it was all gossip amongst the lower class. He was always the brains, the smarts, the monetarily motivated and the residentially proclaimed king of the streets. At least until Miguel came around.[break][break]
First introduced in their early years, Tulio and Miguel had been pitted against each other in competition. The same mark on the very same day. But when their eyes met across the table that fateful day, something changed. What was the point in running a scam by yourself when you could run it with someone who understands you? With quick fingers and a partner who could bring a whole village to tears with his own acted waterworks, Tulio and Miguel became a pair of the greatest con artists Seville…or anywhere else for that matter, had ever seen.[break][break]
The day that they won the map to El Dorado was one that would change the course of their lives forever. No longer were they just men with loaded dice and gorgeous smiles, but they had the chance to be gods…at least, if the map proved to be true.[break][break]
They were given a chance to test this theory when they accidentally stowed away on the infamous explorer Cortez’s ship. That should have been the end of it, but, as the gods would have it, it was only the beginning. They managed to break free of Cortez’s demanded captivity, stealing the conquistador’s horse, Altivo, along the way.[break][break]
They followed the marks carefully, learning the lay of the land until they finally found themselves at a giant rock exactly where El Dorado should have been.[break][break]
It was at that precise moment that everything changed. She has always been his salvation…the part about himself that he doesn’t quite understand. Chel. Running away from El Dorado’s guards, she ran straight into the arms of the illustrious con-men. As fate would have it, the sun shined upon them, lighting them up as gods of the city.[break][break]
Gods, gold, glory. It was all that Tulio had ever dreamed of. He and Miguel, together, ruling a bunch of idiots and making off like bandits. But it became something more than that. Miguel fell in love with the land and the people and Tulio fell in love with Chel. They each had something that kept them there…kept them as honest as they could be.[break][break]
In the end, it was up to them to save the entire city — and give up the riches and godliness. Tulio struggled with the decision, but he knew it was the right thing to do in the end. But that was precisely where Tulio and Miguel’s story ended… [break][break]

Overheard a week after waking in Wonderland:[break][break]
Alright so here’s the plan: We get a couple of those…you know those big caravan wagons and we set up shop around Wonderland. Bada-bing, bada-boom, we’ve got customers coming right to our doorstep. Customers for what, I bet you’re thinking, so here it is: We tell them who they were before five months ago.[break][break]
No, no, I know what you’re thinking, but I thought of it first! They’re moving caravans, got it? We travel the village and we get RICH! I’m talking billions of coins, just think of it Aurelio. Just THINK ABOUT IT. We could be gods. No body knows where they came from…so we just…make it up! We sell their past lives to them for a fortune and then we’re rolling in gold. Rolling in it!
