Maxwell Bay walked through the village, a place he didn’t live in but visited quite frequently. He was a doctor with the royal guard, kind of like a military doctor, taking care of wounded soldiers if that ever happened. He really didn’t like his job much; he would prefer to help everyone. There was just something about wanting everyone to be well that was just part of his personality, like it was programed in his brain. That’s who he is and no one was going to change it.
He knew that he would be getting strange looks. People knew what Max did for a living. He probably wasn’t very popular here in the village unless he helped someone directly. He had to do a lot of things in secrecy because he knew that he would get in trouble if the guards find out he was also treating the prisoners that they had at the castle too. He would probably be arrested himself for doing that.
Max stopped when he reached a bakery. A large smile appeared on his face and he walked inside. A cupcake or chocolate chip cookie sounded really good right now. He loved sweet things. Max stepped inside and didn’t see anyone. He walked around the shop then stopped in front of the counter where there he could see through and saw decorated cupcakes. Max smashed his face against the glass and peered at them and then smiled. He would get a few of those.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] KEEP YOUR EYES ON ME [attr="class","next"] Kitty threw some of the flower into the pot as she kneaded it — the consistency wasn’t quite right for donuts, it was a little too watery. Reaching up, she brushed some of her hair away from her eyes, the flour finding its way onto her forehead as she worked. She was a baker — a skill she really hadn’t know she had had until a few months back. It had just come to her and one day she was throwing together the best donuts this side of Wonderland. The little bell at the bakery made a jingling noise and she immediately jumped. “Customer?” She said aloud, sticking her finger into the pile of icing nearby and then sucking it clean. Customer, she affirmed as she peaked her head out from the back of the store and found that there was a man quite literally pushing her face against the glass. She bent down behind the counter where it took was made of glass and looked at him. She didn’t even bother to fight off the smile that was on her face. He was strange — and she liked him already, “Hello, you.” She said, pressing her hand into the case, as if she could reach between the two and connect them some how. “You’re new.” Her voice was aloof, it was the kind of voice that didn’t seem to belong to the petite blonde behind the counter. "Where'd you come from?"

Max still had his face mashed up against the glass staring at all of the cupcakes. He didn’t hear the person walk in since he was caught in his thoughts. He was still trying to decide on which one he wanted to eat. He thought they all looked good and was so tempted to get them all. He knew that that would lead to an extreme stomach ache so that was not probably a good idea.
He heard a young womans voice greet him and he looked at her, moving his face across the glass. She was reaching and touching the glass with her hand and a smile appeared on Max’s face. she had then asked where he came from and Max removed his face from the glass and then stood up now looking at her from over the counter.
“uh, what do you mean? I came from here?” he asked not really sure what she meant by her question. “or just now, I came from the palace.” He then said, trying to get an idea. “Did you make those?” he asked now pointing at the cupcakes that were in the glass. “I would like one please.” He then said politely. There really wasn’t a mean bone in Max’s body. He was always so happy and polite in general. There really was even a few things that made him angry as well.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] KEEP YOUR EYES ON ME [attr="class","next"]Kitty found herself giggling at the strange man and his face pressed against the glass. He was odd — she rather liked odd, considering she was a bit odd herself.
“I mean where did you come from before—“ He answered her question, saying that he was from the palace. He certainly didn’t look like a prince to her, but she could have been wrong. Kitty always liked to see the best in people and she imagined that he could be a very likable prince. In fact, her her eyes, he probably was. Instantly, Kitty labeled him as Prince in her mind. It was a nickname that would stick…at least mentally. “You’re the Prince?” She asked, trying to not laugh even more as she pressed her fingertips to her lips. “Nice to meet ya,” She said, giving a silly little curtsey.
He pointed at the cupcakes and she leaned forward, looking through the glass as she nodded. They sure looked good — she wasn’t sure where she had learned to bake, but it was an extreme gift that she had, “You seem like a blue icing kind of guy.” She said as she pulled one from the case and set it down in front of him. She was about to tell him the cost when she saw his smile. He seemed too nice to charge — Kitty often got in trouble for giving the food away for free, but she didn’t mind. It was worth it sometimes.
Reaching in, she pulled out a cupcake with vibrant green icing and stuck her finger in the icing, before placing it into her mouth, “I’m Kitty.” She introduced herself, leaning her head forward awkwardly as if she expected him to pet her hair.

Max stared at the girl and then his eyes widened when she asked him if he was a prince and he held up his hands to deny and she then said it was nice to meet him. “Uh, no…” Max started. “Not a prince. I’m a doctor. The doctor for the guard and palace and stuff.” Max replied to her, hoping that it didn’t hurt her feelings that she was corrected.
She commented about how he seemed like a blue icing kind of guy and she set down a cupcake in front of him. He smiled and then looked up at her. “How much is it?” he asked politely, wanting to pay for something that looked so delicious.
He then watched her stick her finger in the green icing of a cupcake and put her finger in her mouth and he just tilted his head to the side. Why would someone do that? The actions he witnessed sometimes confused him, and even the things that people say sometimes as well. He didn’t know why since he was human too; it was just something that was, well missing.
She introduced herself as Kitty and Max smiled and picked up the other cupcake and looked at it. “I’m Bay, uh, Maxwell Bay. People just call me Max, or Bay…” he paused a moment. “You can call me Max.” he smiled before he mimicked her action by sticking his finger in the blue icing and placing it in his mouth too.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] KEEP YOUR EYES ON ME [attr="class","next"]“A doctor,” Kitty repeated, still grinning from ear to ear. That certainly seemed to fit him a bit better than a prince, although she thought that he could have perhaps been handsome enough to be a prince. Almost immediately she lost track of her thoughts and found her nodding her head, “What’s a palace guard need a doctor for?” She questioned.
He asked for the price and she shook her head, leaning forward to put her elbows on the counter. She was still holding her own cupcake in her hands, using her finger to dip into the icing, “Nothing. Doctors don’t pay. It’s company policy. Plus you have a nice face.” She said, plopping some more of the icing in her mouth as she watched him carefully.
He didn’t pat her head or stick out his hand for a handshake, something she found very odd for some reason. Just the same, she drew back and shrugged her shoulders, “Max. Maxy. That’s nice.” Kitty said with a laugh. He didn’t look like he knew what he was doing and Kitty wondered how a guy like that could possibly become a doctor — then again, he did seem extraordinary sweet. As he plopped some of the blue icing into his mouth she stick her finger in the green and then placed it on the tip of his nose. “Why is a doctor like you at the bakery? Baked goods are bad for your health.” She informed him as she spooned some more icing into her mouth, “Too much and you’ll just—“ She puffed her cheeks, “Balloon up.”

The young doctor looked at the blond girl in front of him and he just continued to smile. He nodded still with the smile on his face. She then asked what the guard needed a doctor for and Max just shrugged. “No clue, but I am the doctor so I just go with it. I also help people around the town and stuff if they don’t mind coming to see me.” Max merely shrugged, now turning his attention back to his cup cake. He took a bite into the cupcake and then looked at her. “This is good.” He said with his mouth full of cupcake. He finally swallowed and then smiled to her again. “sorry. This is really good.”
She complimented his face and he titled his head to the side. “Uh, so do you?” he simply responded. He had never heard that kind of a compliment before. That just made him smile more. She then asked him why he was here and he shrugged. “I like baked goods.” He merely said. “Besides, I am a doctor. I know how to take care of myself.” He tried to wink but didn’t realize he was actually blinking instead.
He then took another bite of the sweet cupcake and before long, he finished it. “I will definitely come by more often. Never knew that cupcakes were so good.” He smiled and then looked at her. There was just something about her that made him want to stay here, that made him want to call her hairy baby for some strange reason. He just couldn’t explain it.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] KEEP YOUR EYES ON ME [attr="class","next"]“I wouldn’t mind coming to see you. You seem like a nice doctor,” Kitty said as she leaned forward against the glass casing of the bakery’s counter and looked at him. He had his face shoved full of the cupcake and she couldn't help but laugh. “You’ve got…” She reached up and brushed some of the icing off of his nose before plopping it into her own mouth. “Good, right?” He smiled and agreed and she suddenly was very happy that she had put together a new batch of cupcakes this morning before he came in. There was something so satisfying about having someone compliment her baking. “If you think these are good, you should try the donuts.”
He said that she had a nice face and Kitty wasn’t sure how to react. She almost expected him to pat her on her head, but he didn’t. Instead he just smiled at her. She did have a nice face, she thought as she grinned back. Placing her head on her hand, she watched as he gave a few prolonged blinks in her direction. Kitty returned the same notion, curious to see if it was some sort of weird doctor’s greeting. “Since you know how to take care of yourself…” She leaned down and pulled out one of the donuts with chocolate icing and rainbow sprinkles and held it out to him, “Try?”
He had already finished the cupcake, she smiled at the thought. He needed more sweets. At Lucky Cat Cafe, there was no such thing as too many sweets. He said he would be coming back and Kitty grinned even larger, “I’d like that.” She said, reaching up to tuck a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear. She liked Max. He was nice. "I mean...we alternate flavors weekly." She quickly covered her oddity by rambling. "I think we wanna try wing flavored cupcakes."

Max’s smile widened when she said that she wouldn’t mind coming to visit him and saying that he seems like a nice doctor. That’s all he really wants to be, someone that people wouldn’t mind seeing even though he is in the palace. All Max really wanted to be was a friend to everyone. "you would be the only one. And I would like you to come visit me. I just want to help people, you know? How can I do that if everyone is afraid of going to see you?" he smiled to her and shrugged lightly. She then reached at him and took some of the icing off of his nose and Max started blushing. Why was this so awkward for him? he watched her eat it and he nodded at her next question. she then told him to try the donuts and he nodded once more. “I think I might have to.” He replied, still not being able to control his blushing or his smile.
She then offered him the donut that had chocolate icing and rainbow sprinkles. The donut looked so good, Maxwell didn’t even hesitate to pick it up and try it. He took a big bite out of the donut and it took him a few moments to chew and swallow. Maybe a big bite like that wasn’t a good idea. He looked at the donut then to her. “I need like over a hundred of these.” He simply said before taking another bite from it.
She told him that she would like him coming back more often and the young brunette haired man just smiled at her. she then went on and said that they alternate flavors weekly. “Looks like coming once a week is something I have to do then, huh?” he laughed and took another bite from the donut.
There were other reasons as to why Max would come back. He really liked Kitty. She was different from most of the few people that he has met here in Wonderland and definitely the nicest person he had met here.
